Members RogerNewcomb
I thought all three Best Song nominees sucked, even my beloved Dolly. Two of the performances were spirited but the songs did nothing for me. I think Oscar should change the rules about best songs and not make it so strict. For me, if it's on the soundtrack, it should be eligible. I think Jon Stewart was too bland. Not edgy enough for the audience, and too watered down for everyone else. They were trying to be in some middle ground that didn't work. Some loved it, but most critics skewered it. I agree with them. I think he should have just went for it and made it memorable and if he bombed, at least he was totally true to himself. Now that it's been a week, I'm not as upset about Brokeback losing. Years from now it will be remembered a lot more than Crash ever will so that lasting impact is really the true award.
