Dr. Strange

Marvel made it official and cast Benedict Cumberbatch as their Sorcerer Supreme.  He isn't famous to anyone but comic readers but this is perfect casting.   Until then, here is a blurry copy of the forgotten TV movie from the 1970s

He's so boring.

Anyway, my main interest in Dr. Strange was usually just Clea, and whether Clea would ever actually join The Defenders, after hanging around their team for years on end. Finally, she actually did, only for this to be dropped as they went through creative change #493.

He's talented and I'm good with it. I wouldn't have minded Nic Cage, though. That poor man (who is apparently deeply in debt, hence his taking literally any project that comes along) desperately needs the kind of career rehab RDJ got.

Johnny Depp was reportedly top on the list, but gave them the run-around way too long.

They're both talented. Nicolas Cage has just been mired in schlock and ham for years. RDJ wasn't too far different fifteen years ago.

The only time I've ever seen Nic Cage display any talent was in Leaving Las Vegas, and to a lesser extent Adaptation.

I suppose *maybe* an argument could be made for the first National Treasure and, I guess, Moonstruck.

But he's always been, to me, a mediocre actor who occasionally stumbles into roles well suited to him.
