Members Bright Eyes
The nominations for the 2015 Independent Spirit Awards have been announced and can be found here: https://s3.amazonaws.com/PressReleasesSA/2015_SA_nomonesheet_112514v2.pdf The awards will take place on February 21, 2015, one day before the Academy Awards. First, I am super excited for Xavier Dolan. I love everything this man does. He is my idol. If he wins, I'll probably jump out of my seat in happiness. Secondly, if Patricia Arquette is going supporting for the Oscar like she did here, I would think that basically gives her a stronghold on the win (hopefully!), leaving Julianne Moore without her toughest competition in the leading category. If both of them win on the night, I couldn't think of an option more perfect.
Members Mr. Vixen
Arquette will definitely go supporting, and she'll win. And this is Moore's year. It has to be. She's so, so long overdue, and I've heard Still Alice is a career high for her (hard to believe, since she's so good in everything). Julianne Moore, Felicity Jones, Rosamund Pike, and Reese Witherspoon are pretty much locks at this point, and I think that fifth spot will go to either Jen Aniston for "Cake" or Hilary Swank for "The Homesman". I just don't see Emily Blunt getting in there.
Members Bright Eyes
You're so cute thinking Jennifer Aniston has a chance. Hilary Swank at least has history on her side, especially with that second win that she didn't deserve.
Members Mr. Vixen
I never in a million years would've thought Aniston stood a chance, but early reviews are outstanding and almost all of the major prediction sites (who are generally pretty spot on) have her bubbling under, about to crack the top 5. And girl, BYE. Swank earned every bit of that second oscar. Her work in MDB was outstanding.

Members Bright Eyes
No. Julianne Moore. Two n's, two o's. I am, however, kind of torn between Keaton and Redmayne. My heart tells me to go for Redmayne because he's one of "my" actors, but I grew up with Keaton, who I have also found quite enjoyable in interviews promoting Birdman. Plus, I really think the Oscars will go to him as a career achievement, with the thinking that Redmayne will have another shot sometime later in his career. Members Mr. Vixen
Agreed. This is Moore's to lose, and if she DOES lose, I will be extremely pissed. Bright Eyes, what do you think about Jennifer getting a SAG nom? I'm so baffled by the Naomi Watts nom. I mean sure she was good, but that's a huge WTF. If they were gonna nominate a supporting actress from that movie, to me the obvious choice was McCarthy. And if they wanted to nominate Watts, her work in Birdman was far more deserving (but maybe the fact that Emma was the "lock" for that movie had something to do with it?). I think if Aniston manages to get a nom from the Globes tomorrow, she's got a good chance at a nod from the Oscars.
Members ThePrinceOfSunspear
Yall know Rosamund Pike is gonna win and she totally deserves to. Hopefully Benedict Cumberbatch wins but I'll admit I have yet to see The Imitation Game......
