I'm sure the bad weather and the youtube crackdowns have aided soaps numbers across the board, but GH been consistently gaining viewers since LAST AUGUST. The numbers prove it's a solid 6 month UPWARD trend:

GH monthly viewership and 18-49 demo averages:

Jan 2013 2,834,200 653,600

Feb 2013 2,777,500 631,250
Mar 2013 2,612,750 611,500
Apr 2013 2,668,200 637,800 - 50th anniv/Nurses Ball
May 2013 2,550,750 617,750
Jun 2013 2,500,000 555,750
Jul 2013 2,455,600 588,800 - Fell to new 18-49 all time low

Aug 2013 2,573,500 616,500 - 4wk straight viewership surge -

Mac & Flea's wedding & Spixie baby birth

Sep 2013 2,776,500 703,250 - 8wk straight viewership surge & Hit 2yr 18-49 high - Britt gave birth, Luke kicked off Cassadine Island adventure

Oct 2013 2,821,400 737,800 - Hit new 2yr 18-49 high -

Robin, Robert, Jerry, Faison returned

Nov 2013 2,963,750 737,750 - Hit 6yr ratings high, 4yr 18-49 high -

Robin reunited w/Luke, Robert, Anna. Patrick & Sabrina wedding

Dec 2013 3,067,500 740,000 - Hit #1 in all demos since 2007 -

Robin reunited with Emma and Patrick. Warehouse shootout

Jan 2014 3,145,000 730,600 - Highest monthly viewership average since 2008

Since August 2nd, GH has gained 705,000 viewers. That's impressive and I say this as someone enjoying very little on GH these days.

How do you think having The Talk and The Chew have helped? I know in my area The Talk comes on after the soaps. And even though they have guest stars from Y&R on their sometimes they usually only get like 5 minutes of airtime.

I think that they have promoted soaps stories and had actors on and that's nice. I think that the soap promos during non soaps also helps. It's not as if only soap fans are watching these shows and they may help bring old viewers back in.

I'm not saying soaps need to worship these shows and thank them endlessly by any means. But I do think having a broad daytime lineup of more than soaps is helpful.
