I don't know if there is already a thread but just wondering if there are any fans of the original Miami Vice. I beleive it's still shown on some network. I have the DVD's and think it was a pretty interesting show. hot music, real Miami scenes and everything. I know it was very dated...very 80's but it was very popular. I also loved when Izzy was on. He was so funny!.

Actually if you've seen Don Johnson lately, he's lost weight and looks good again. I think he did it for the new movie he was in. I would love to see a Miami Vice reunion of some kind.Even though the 80's are long gone, usually around the beaches there are still pastel stuff...especially in Florida. they could easily do a Tv movie or something. I know there was a big feature film but i just coulnd't see anybody else playing Crokett and Tubbs.

As much as I loved this show as a kid, the first thing that I'd noticed when I'd first seen the reruns on Centric was that it aged very poorly because of its MTV Cops premise - the very criticism that TV critics had of it at the time, from what I'd read.

As great as Don Johnson and Perfect Moment of Truth looked in their pastel suits / sharkskin suits, it didn't make up for the flimsy plots or the cheesy love scenes (though I did enjoy Pam Grier's stint on the show). If I tune into this show these days, it's only so that I can relive my childhood through the tunes of Phil Collins, Tina Turner, or old-school U2.

On another note, I had no idea that the guy that played Noogie died of AIDS. I just assumed he was living a civilian life these days.

Holla!

I love Miami Vice. I wish Centric would play it more. A few years ago they played marathons all weekend.

I remember not knowing much about the show until then. And, then watching the episode where they killed Larry. And, I was so pissed.

I loved Stan. Loved him! He was what Cliff was to Matlock. And, I adore Cliff from Matlock.

I have to post the opening.

I think that was the dumbest thing John Diehl ever did. He left because he wanted to do movies and see where his career would go. I know he wasn't a huge star but the show just lost something when he left. I loved when Crockett would kid around with them on stake outs and stuff.

    • I thought my ears were hearing things wrong when I was working and listening to the show. But Lucky is leaving again already

. Please at this point don’t bring him back again.
    • Did Carrie say her son was graduating from high school, or college, and that's why he and Austin couldn't make the trip to Salem? Does that mean Carrie's son is currently the same age as Sami's granddaughter?  That's one nutty family….
    • Exactly this. I don't watch Days but on Y&R the lack of sets is directly cutting off story possibilities.
    • I just meant because Drake and Wayne are very different actors at least from the clips that I’ve seen. Even with time between the two actors, it’s still a major role and love interest being recast. So I still stand by my question of I wonder how people in the 80’s felt when Drake took over as Roman. I defintely agree with Tomas and Derek being recast long before Ted.
    • Couldn’t have summed it up better myself. Truly unbelievable Sami of all people will have no parts of John’s death or memorial.    Also strange it appears neither Claire is being brought back? But somehow we got Chelsea of all people for Victor’s funeral.
    • Days actually has a hospital and police station. You get sick and get treatment off camera on Y&R. Chance solves his cases at Crimson lights. You also ignored there’s the Bistro, the newspaper, Titan, DiMera. Complaining about the Salem Inn when multiple people on Y&R regularly just used the same GCAC hotel rooms. But you have your opinion and I have mine. I’m going to agree to disagree and move on as you tend to get condescending when trying to prove a point.
    • I hadn’t considered Leo’s connection to Diana and The Spectator, so I appreciated that they circled back to close that loop. I have something of a blind spot regarding the period around Leo’s introduction. As a result, I’ve never quite reconciled that his mother is supposed to be Genie Francis’s Diana. I may quibble with recent episodes, but more often than not my reaction has been, “They think of everything.” Separating the art from the artist, as it were, Jennifer’s hair and outfit were remarkably chic. It’s hard to believe the same people were responsible for dressing both Hope and Jennifer this week. Some may disagree (though they would be mistaken), but Jennifer’s blunt haircut and her dress, modest yet genuinely flattering, looked far more modern than Hope in that gaudy Chanel knockoff.
    • So Kim Zimmer had beef with a rookie in both her original run and her return run. 1987 Kim Zimmer was 32 and Michelle Forbes was 22. 1995 Kim Zimmer was 40 and Cynthia Watros was 27. Aging star having her shine stolen by a rookie 10 years younger and a rookie 13 years younger, not surprised there was beef. I wonder if there was any beef between Kim Zimmer and Beverlee McKinsey.
    • Not only that, I never realized they had ever shown Tony and Annabelle's kid. I assume those scenes were Bea's swan song. Even though these episodes are now in a period when I had been watching the show regularly, I noticed this viewing a wildly obvious shift in tone from episodes broadcast a few months before. It puzzled me until I noticed Pam Long was no longer listed as head writer, only Jeff Ryder. I gotta say, it's jarring how much certain characters--mostly women--have suddenly changed. It's like a demon took over Claire's body since she gave birth. Reva and Roxy are so manic it's hard to watch them. I think this is when Reva started to really annoy me. I could take her or leave her before.  Don't even get me started on how stupid Alex has become. I don't think DNA tests were easily available quite yet, but that she accepted Simon without thoroughly investigating the story he told her about his mother is unbelievable, even though she is vulnerable because of Lujack's death. Whatever flaws Long had, she did write women as much more complex and believable.
    • The final season had a darkness and sadness surrounding everything and it was painful to get through. There were times I was like "make it make sense". Sign of the times. Hired on the cheap to fill both the good mother role and family conscience role.  Did the writers really think that 25 years later (going by real time) the audience wouldn't notice the dust off of The Sound of Music?
