I just wanted to let all the OLTL & AMC fans know that Kassie DePaiva and Bobbie Eakes will be on this Sunday's episode of Straight Talk Live with Tonja Walker. Tonja's show airs every Sunday between 6 and 7 P.M. Eastern on WICC-AM 600 (Bridgeport, CT). If you don't live in the area, you can still listen to the show by going to http://www.wicc600.com and clicking on the "Listen Live" button in the upper right corner of the screen. (You may have to view a short commercial before the live radio stream airs.)

If she and Bobbie are on together, it sounds like they're promoting the Divas of Daytime.

I think Tonja and Fiona are still good friends. She should have her on sometime. I just saw on Fi's Facebook page today that she and her husband's play, God of Carnage, had it's final show tonight.

I saved some on VHS from when they ran on the Africa Channel although they are probably just rotting away as I'm not likely to get them put anywhere else. They ran maybe a year or a year and half and would then loop back.
One story after that period which sounds like something I might want to see (just because it sounds strange and random) was Len dressing as "Lenita" and thinking of becoming trans. Len was such an interesting character - maybe the first guy I saw on a soap who was a sarcastic and unapologetic bisexual. A shame he didn't seem to have much of an ending.

The thing I found interesting about his character having two sons are that it sounds as though they're in the 18 year old range so I'm wondering if Vaughn's character is accepted.. that perhaps one or two of the kids comes on as a love interest for either Samantha (since she's around 17 right now) or if they'll be eventually paired with Kat and/or the unseen Deanna (Vanessa's daughter).

I think you're talking about Ashley and Rhino (or is it Rino?). Yes, the reveal of the dark family secret is very close to the big thing that happens! Then the show gets way better. Even though I enjoyed the repeats from 2008, I don't remember much. I kick myself for not recording them. It seems like the writing was good until at least 2008, maybe later. And yes by that time Lee, Barker, and Rajesh were driving the major stories. Sorry it took me so long to post!

Thanks for remembering me and sharing all these details. I think I saved the first 100 (some were taken down or missing by then) but didn't know there were more. If I ever get the chance I will try to see the others. This is such a fascinating show, and the early days are a world away from what I watched (that was around 2008 and by then there was a JR Ewing type figure and many more corporate plots). The early episodes having the father with his mousy daughter and her dumb but sweet fiance. By the time I had to take a break I think there was a very dark secret with that family.
I am especially hoping that some of the Steve story pops up sometime as I'm curious as to how they handled his being gay (and didn't they briefly almost pair him with Dusty before changing course).

It could happen, and I think in some ways that would be enhanced by Nathan being so blank, but I think the momentum is lost. There aren't enough people really close to Nathan who will be there to feel hurt and angry when the truth comes out. Not that I'm complaining but I'm surprised Obrecht hasn't been on more.

I think Julie Pinson is a fine actress but this was in the era where it seemed like she was popping up everywhere just because (even though I think she'd only done two shows by then lol). Her being Billie was equally extraneous. She was a great lookalike for Lisa, and I never liked or accepted the Krista Allen Billie in any way and JP's version was superficially much closer to the original. But it still wasn't the same. I just didn't see a reason for Billie to be around at that point with another recast, and they never gave Pinson's Billie much of anything worthwhile, she seemed to just mope and whine. But nothing has ever compared to Lisa's original run anyway.

Nor I. I do think she's excellent and would be happy to have her back for extended stints as a villain, but the role they were putting Esme in during her amnesia year (clearly hoping to 'redeem' her) was intolerable to me given the already very shabby treatment re: Spencer and Trina. That's not Pohl's fault though.
I also thought it was a mistake to make her the daughter of both Ryan and Heather. That's too much, a hat on a hat (and the backstory for how they met - some mountain cabin while everyone thought he was dead or something? - is silly). OTOH it beats their alleged original plan, which was for Ryan to somehow have stolen Felicia's eggs or something. Disgusting shades of the already sick Charlotte conception.
