My favorite of all time is an MGM cartoon, not WB... the animation is so atmospheric and beautiful, especially at the end where the flowers above the boat light up like lanterns, the way the reflections in the water is drawn is pure genius. Sweet, cute, innocent, with beautiful music. this cartoon is just perfect in every way:

Those were the MGM ones from Harmen/Ising, who started off at Disney and basically ripped off the Disney Silly Symphony style--which are my faves. Those and the wacky, surreal Max Fleischer shorts (which were not for kids, and actually they had trouble when the Ratings Code came into films in 1933--Betty Boop no longer could have a strapless dress and other silly rules). Some faves:

I'm not sure in 80's cartoons could really be called classic, but these two intros are among my all time favorites:

Heathcliff (1984-87):

Alvin and the Chipmunks (1983-91):

I already posted these two intros in another thread, but decided to re-post them because I felt they belonged here as well.

They're gorgeous and of course were a huge influence on the Batman series of the 90s--it's too bad they were so expensive, and then Famous(Paramount) bought out the Fleischer studio from under them. I believe they actually did the last one or two of the series, and you cabn see the drop in quality.
