Members Max
Does anybody here like doo-wop music? To put it simply, doo-wop is the 1950's vocal group singing style (although it remained popular in the early-60's as well), where background singers would chant nonsense syllables such as "doo-wop" and "shoo-be-do" while the music played. I love this music, even though I was born well after it was made. For those of you who don't know what doo-wop is (which I would assume is just about everyone here), below are among the most famous songs of this early rock and roll genre: "Sh-Boom" by The Chords (1954): <iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/xU3O7GnV5js" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> "Earth Angel" by The Penguins (1955): <iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/t3ykKpDMsvU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> "Why Do Fools Fall in Love?" by Frankie Lymon & the Teenagers (1956): <iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/2sAHiR0rkJg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> "In the Still of the Night" by the Five Satins (1956): <iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/fBT3oDMCWpI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> "Come Go With Me" by the Dell Vikings (1957): <iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/P1eU_lDQaVM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> "Get a Job" by the Silhouettes (1958): <iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/ENuq74Ht2mo" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> "Book of Love" by the Monotones (1958): <iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/_YvQdsfzVa4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> "Tears on My Pillow" by Little Anthony & the Imperials (1958): <iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Pg4F_1NoftA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> "16 Candles" by the Crests (1959): <iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Ar5btDrZ9I4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> "A Teenager in Love" by Dion & the Belmonts (1959): <iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/0kw6w9CPTjw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> "Stay" by Maurice Williams & the Zodiacs (1960): <iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/o1Z_hskvz1M" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> "Blue Moon" by the Marcels (1961): <iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/7giOrKYIwpQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> "Runaround Sue" by Dion (1961): <iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/11RampGmkI0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> "Duke of Earl" by Gene Chandler (1962): <iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/h6Uht69h8Is" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> "Denise" by Randy & the Rainbows (1963): <iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/xgqMW4CHClk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> If this topic generates any interest, I'll post some more fantastic doo-wop songs.
