Members DRW50
I know a lot of the TV soap books of the 70s, and some of the pseudo-analysis type books, but not this one. It's from 1979, by Annie Gilbert. Have any of you ever read this? Is it any good? http://www.amazon.com/All-My-Afternoons-Heart-Opera/dp/0891040986/ref=sr_1_46?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1289294451&sr=1-
Members EricMontreal22
I got this used back in Sep--I think I sent you a PM asking if you'd read it and then said nothing more. It's fairly light weight but has GREAT photos--including some neat ones of AMC and ATWT's empty sets (well, I find them neat lol), and some interesting info. They pick and choosew what are claimed to be the most popular soaps of the time, and OLTL is ignored (well it's talkd about but doesn't get its own chapter) which I found particularly annoying, but I think it's worth it considering you can get it for a penny (plus 6 bucks of course, or whatever, postage). Members DRW50
Thanks. I totally forgot this was the book you mentioned. I thought it was the purple one. You see these on Amazon and there is NOTHING about them beyond name, author, and price. Do you know anything about the one by Joel Gross, Young Man Who Wrote Soaps? Or something like that. Is that some work of fiction or is it about someone who wrote a soap?
Members EricMontreal22
Never ever heard of it... Hrmm. But yeah sometimes you just have to take the plunge and risk it with these older soap books. (When I bought All My Afternoons I don't think there even was a cover photo)
