That's kinda cool, the character role. senior role thing. You just get the sense that there was a lot more love for the performers back then, in a warm, appreciative way, not the wacked out fanatical scary fandom you see today. The mention of the senior performers reminds me of this special Martin Short did on CBS back in the '90s which was taped on GL's old soundstage. He did a "touching" (camp) direct to camera tribute to Papa Bauer, choking up recalling the day that Papa Bauer died. I love Martin Short, he is a genius.

It's still hard for me to picture Little Orphan Annie and Ava Rescott playing the same role.

I've heard that Suzanne Davidson was very good as Betsy, I wish some of that was available.

I didn't know Rachel was considered a villain by 1976.

It's nice that the fans at that time were able to tell the difference between "favorite" and "best" and give some love to the actors who were not being treated as the hot new thing at that time. Today if you did that list I'm afraid Josh Morrow or Steve Burton would end up as Best Actor.
