I have to give her some credit because many times producers just don't bother with any major returns, or only a handful, because their ego means it's their show and everyone is only interested in their stories. She could have done more, but she did much more than many I could name.

guessing you’re talking about christopher and the final year of ‘world turns.

That's at the top of the list (and yet somehow some actually praised him not bringing vets back as bravery...), but not the only one. One that always bothers me is on Coronation Street when Julie Goodyear said she wished she could return for the funeral of Betty Driver's character Betty, as they were close friends on and offcamera. ITV and the producers had such a beef with her, presumably, that they didn't agree, even though it would have meant so much to viewers (these characters had been close from the early '70s to the mid '90s) and given the character of Betty a proper goodbye.

Okay, theoretically, of those who didn't return, who would've meant the most to viewers at the end?

I vote for Jerry, undoing the horrible "Rick and Phillip accidently killed Ross" story.

That would have been lovely, even if the plan, IIRC, was just for him to appear as a spirit.

I think Harley not being there was also a bit sad, but I know Beth was still at AMC and that character had already been run into the ground.

I would have enjoyed an India return too, however briefly.

Personally, by that time, I was burned out with Harley and her multitude of issues. Which is sad, considering how much I had loved the character before Gus ruined her. (*or how TIIC ruined the character at the end.)

I don't know if it would have meant much to viewers, but while the whole "Alan sacrifices himself to save Phillip" thing made sense character-wise, it made NO sense medical-wise.

Phillip had like a gajillion Marler blood relatives, including a full sister, who could have been called on to save him. (I get why they refused to let James do it, as he had done that for his sister. But everyone else? Come on). Alan did not share any DNA with Phillip, it had to be the wildest coincidence of all time that he was a match to be a donor. Not to mention, he had a heart condition and they would have rejected him as a donor.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, suspension of disbelief, but there were other ways to accomplish the same thing. If Alan had thrown himself in front of a truck to save Phillip--THAT, I would have believed.

So a return of Samantha might not have been high on anyone's list, but at least it would have made sense.

@DeeVee I didn't like the "Alan needed redemption" story anyway. (did they really need to invent some "original shame" for him? He'd betrayed everyone in his life.) But yeah, you might've thought someone could've mentioned Sam or even the Marler twins (who would've been older than James) as possible donors.

Wilder medical coincidence? That Billy would've been a match for Reva, except his marrow was damaged from his years of drinking.

I did not watch the show during Reva's cancer storyline. Did they REALLY do that? She had two sisters, a brother, a bunch of kids and a niece and nephew but HE was the match? 😂

Yep. But because Reva didn't want to tell anyone about her cancer (because of course...RME) , I think Billy and Jon were the only ones who got tested. *and don't forget her granddaughter was in town too.

Alan-Michael and Amanda, following Alan’s death—-any actors.

Helen Wagner as Trudy could’ve been a cool nod to history.

That would have been wonderful. They must have known of Trudy as they did the radio show.

I agree about Alan-Michael and Amanda, although that last flop Alan-Michael recast probably shut the door.

Is this Elissa Leeds?

Could be. A little hard to be sure when you can't compare voice.

I did a little digging around to see what I could find out about this storyline since I never saw it. I stumbled onto a post that quoted a bunch of cancer survivors DRAGGING the storyline. Mainly because Reva attempts suicide. (I know it's a serious topic and they're not wrong to be angry, but those who said Reva's a "fighter" and "survivor" who would never do this apparently forgot she attempted suicide twice before. Three times if you count Dolly the Clone). They also didn't like that she kept it a secret from her loved ones.
