They were considering older actresses, but I think they felt that there were so many on the canvas that age already they went with younger which did not work. I love Poser as well and wish she had been brought back as Victoria's daughter, though realize having a white woman play a mixed race character might not go over well...(was Victoria's husband white as well?)

For some reason I thought Poser was biracial.

I always wondered why Zimmer felt the need to ham it up on GL especially when I watched some of her acting on other soaps (The Doctors, OLTL circa 1983, & Santa Barbara) and she was a lot more toned down and natural with her acting.

I'll even go as far as to say that I thought her role on Santa Barbara was probably her most atypical role she had during her soap career. She was playing a working class cop, had to be controlled/cold at work, was an attentive wife, and also could throw a line of shade on occasion. I think the difference was that her character on Santa Barbara was someone that you would see in your day to day life unlike someone like Reva... who would have been better placed in a mental hospital along with Annie Dutton than be allowed to roam the streets of society.

There is this one YT channel that has all of Blake/Ross scenes from 1992 to the early 2000s.. and watching the change over from SS to LK was interesting to see with adult eyes. You saw SS expressing softness and vulnerability in her final scenes and you saw LK trying to play the Blake that SS left for her and struggling badly with it. Had SS remained as Blake for even another year, I doubt Ross/Blake would have lasted.. but it would have been interesting to see the fall out of Roger finding out and Blake living with Ed/Maureen as played by SS. What could have been.

Blake was raised as a Bauer, she was Roger and Holly's child, mother to Ross' children and shared a past with all Spaulding men.

Her 2006-07 coma was a good time to recast the part with a more vibrant and dynamic actress. And why not sexier.

In my GL, she marries Alan-Michael, helps him take over Spaulding Enterprises and they become Springfield's power couple after Ross's death.

I disagree. I think they should've wrote out Blake all together unless they were going to age up her kids. There was no point to the character anymore, her being in a coma for over a year was the evidence. Holly, Ross, Hart, Sebastian and Roger were all.gone.

maybe they could've aged up "special needs," half-sister Meg, but that was never going to happen.

I agree they should have aged up her kids.

I might have had Blake get more involved in Spaulding, go back to her roots. Blake/Alan as a pairing at that point would have made more sense than having Alan with Beth.

Yes, a Blake/Alan-Michael pairing is more logical than de-aging him a decade and pairing him with Marina.

I'm not sure how I feel about a recast. I don't think casting was a strong point for GL by that time, with a few exceptions like Murray Bartlett.

Ellen Wheeler would have done a horrible job recasting Blake.

I would bring back Ed and Holly as Blake's support system, have her marry Alan-Michael, bring back her kids and have her feud with Dinah. That part of GL deserved more attention than the Coopers and Reva.

So, yeah, third time might have been the charm (YES, with a different actor). Vanessa was no longer chasing men for the hell of it. I think it could have been very interesting.

Oh would the Mattessa's FREAK out! I think with Alex gone it would have been time for Van to step into the Spaulding matriarch role..especailly since she and Amanda were never friends. I get that they need Alan/Annie together so someone could fund her schemes and get her ass out of the psych ward. But I would have had Alan start to get really sick of the psycho Albatros around his neck (its fun to screw over Jeva, but not when it effects his bottom line) and if Van was working at Spaulding, Alan would love her business side and her steadiness and fitness in society (all of Alan's society friends woudl have dropped him if he was dragging Annie to events) and Annie would then see her meal ticket slipping away. I would love crazy Annie to threaten ice queen Vanessa "Dear, I am NOT Reva, so you can take your historonics elsewhere, I have a meeting with a client, you can show yourself out."
