Coronation Street: Discussion Thread

I also love that they still have a very large cast. A lot of soaps tend to cut down on their characters to save money

I feel the same Ryan. Coronation Street is not wat it was ten years ago, and ten years ago it wasn't what it was twenty years before that, but I still find it more watchable than any America soap.

It's lost a lot of its humor, is much darker, more violent, more American in its approach. More plot driven. But it hasn't lost me yet and I have been watching on and off since childhood in the 1960s.

Well I’m still in January 2026, I am quickly getting to the end of January though. I love that the episodes are short so it’s easy to catch up pretty quickly if you’re a new viewer and wanting to watch some older episodes.

That Megan is quite the creep eh? Messing with teenage school boys. When I first started getting into this storyline I had to double check Wikipedia if my eyes and ears were picking up what they were putting down cause I was kind of in shock that modern soaps are telling such a scandalous story such as this. U.S soaps would never! It’s ofcourse some very disturbing subject matter but good on Corrie for still being willing to take risks with their storytelling. Take note Y&R because this is what you guys used to do, and did WELL. Those days are long gone.

Interested to see what direction this Jodie character is going in. It looks like she is up to some sneaky business. Is she gonna go after her sisters man? I wonder. They just showed in the most recent episode I watched her fabricating a story to Shona about being abused based on what was discussed in her therapy group session thing by another woman. I am interested to see where this goes.

I love this Debbie character so much. The actress is great. I guess Carl is her son but no one knows yet? Explains why she’s willing to go to such great lengths to protect him. He’s a complete brat though and doesn’t deserve anything she’s doing for him! I hope he gets what he deserves soon.

Carla is a lesbian now?! Boy I have missed a lot. This couple does have great chemistry though. The acting is just so natural and it’s 100% believable that she and Lisa are in love. I love seeing how they fight but then they’re drawn back together. I missed this whole storyline though with the psycho ex causing trouble. That’s okay. I’m excited to see what comes next for them.

While watching Todd’s scenes, I really thought I was watching a new character. When I googled him I saw a photo of the previous actor and I’m like.. OH I remember him! I really don’t know much yet about his storyline other than he and his partner Theo are having problems.

Glad to see Tracy is still Tracy. Loved that she locked that Cassie character in the bathroom. That made me laugh! I was surprised to see she’s still somewhat involved with Steve and they still seem to be doing this back and forth stuff with eachother. I’d love to see them back together. You can go bye=bye Cassie! From what I read she is leaving anyways.
