Interesting Format Idea - solution to poor character balance?

I've thought of this for years... actually ever since the days when you'd hear "We'll return for the second half of Days of our Lives in just a moment."

What if they did just that? Like, for half the show show a couple storylines, some characters then the second half of the show entirely change the focus to different characters and tell their story? so say on Days you have JoMar, cut to a scene with Sami and Kate for the first half, just an example then for the second half it's Bo and Hope and then scenes with, I dont know, Steve and Kayla...

How many people watch the teasers see that none of the scenes are interesting, know exactly who's going to be in the show for most of the hour and just change the channel? This would eliminate that cause you'd change back at half past to see the second half.

This may be a logistical nightmare in regards to where the characters are and having storylines mesh, but you can always move them forward, im not saying split the show down the middle, im saying just show different parts of it at different times

It'd be like 2 half-hour episodes back to back. This way I think they would eliminate filler and better balance their cast... mind you this tack wouldnt work with B&B unless they just aired 2 episodes back to back LOL

    • He didn't scream. He accused her of being careless in a slightly raised voice. Then he immediately admitted he had overreacted.
    • I really don't like Joey. Please get that disaster off the screen. Leslie going off like that finally let everyone see exactly who she is. She said she has more surprises up her sleeve which reinforces my thoughts that she knows something about Martin.
    • To me, Judith McConnell (Sophia, SB) was more poised for Beth than anyone else. Yes, she was, as Sister Beatrice.
    • Is that even still possible? I thought that too at first but with Jan saying that she's never lied to Ashley about who her father is... Does Ashley even know who her dad is?
    • Unfortunately I only had one or two pages from those months. I believe I posted them but it would only cover one or two shows.
    • I think she would have been fine, although Beth was a thankless part. She probably was seen as aging out of the genre after AW.  I forgot she was on Sunset Beach.
    • Nicole's lucky Im no a soap villian bc if I was Wig, Id replace the liquid in her Febreze bottle with an odorless poison so that everytime she sprayed that thing, she'd be slowly killing herself

    • OK, I like the Cat interactions with Xander and EJ. And, I get that there are new writers. But, Clyde was shot 12/11/2024.  So, why have we not heard Xander or EJ's response to the situation for five months!  Clyde shot EJ (or he ordered him shot), shouldn't he react more to the news of his coma.  And, I've never heard EJ or Kristin mention that the woman who lived with them last summer was a fraud. Rather than giving lip service to the idea of family and community, at least it feels like everyone no longer lives in a bubble. Also, while it makes sense to use the hospital as the prize in the war between EJ and Xander.  We all have to admit that under the prior writer, at least Xander, and I think EJ, were dissuaded from buying the hospital went it started to go under in March.  I get the magic sepsis cure makes the hospital more valuable.  But, it seems like the people who are going to get rich are going to be the pharmaceutical companies.  Unless, Kayla and Sarah are going to start manufacturing prescription drugs out of the coffee machine in the lobby.  -- crud, I broke my promise to stop complaining about illogical this story can be. Did anyone else notice less outrage from fans that University Hospital may close, versus the impassioned cries when the Horton living room was burnt down for two day?  I wonder if it reflects our overall dislike of the health care industry?
