Failing that...I wouldn't be unhappy to see Sally Sussman Morina surface. She'd be Latham-esque...but with more Bell focus since she worked Y&R in the 80s. She's far from flawless...but I enjoyed her stuff at DAYS...for better or for worse.

I agree with you.

SSM gets a bad reputation for her tenure at DOOL which I thoroughly enjoyed. She didn't get fired from Days, she chose to leave citing lack of creative control in her second year of her tenure. Same reason Lorraine Broderick lasted all of roughly 3 weeks - Tom Langan. Her first year was quite awesome with the killing pool and franco's death, nurse ali, sami growing up and away from Austin, Greta, Nicole marrying Lucas for $5m, The wesleys, Mike & Carrie (I liked them) etc. Downside was Vivian on remote mood control, Princess Gina, Subsex - all which were Langan's agenda clearly.

I think she is a great choice for Y&R - she knows the history, can write plot, development and charaterization intelligently. Waaaaaay better than Hogan IMHO. Plus unlike Nancy Curlee, Y&R could probably get her.

Oh as much as I love Jackie C...she isn't suited to Y&R, at all. Kay A is suited to Y&R.

Excuse my ignorance, but who is Jackie C. ?

Jackie Collins.

lol, ok. If she was HW she would probably have her headshot dominating in the opening credits and the show would be renamed "Jackie Collin's Young & Restless" :P

You've perfectly described why I think SSM is a solid choice. I too enjoyed her stint at DAYS and was sad to see her go, I don't think the show has ever been as good since that time. All the storylines you listed, quite frankly, could have been done at Y&R with the exception of Greta, Princess Gina and Vivian on Remote (all of which, as you so rightly point out, was on Tom Langan)

Also, thinking realistically, SSM is available, likes to work and her husband is already at the show as a supervising producer. I believe she's the bridge between a Bell and LML...she's been in the Bell sphere but has also done her own thing. Unlike LML, she has not displayed a political agenda in her HW stints and does high society and romance well. She is not perfect, that goes without saying, but I think she is a solid choice which is, I believe, the best we're going to get.
