DAYS: Sami/EJ Spoiler

I DO take rape seriously, and this show went there. Since they went there, take responsibility. This isn't a fantasy storyline. It's a real horror that's happened to many of your viewers. Take a page out of TED CORDAY'S book, Kenny Boy, and treat a social issue like it matters. Why should he? Because social issues do matter, and they matter a great deal.

Exactly. You want to do a social/medical story then step up and do it right. It seems to me that this story has taken turn about the triangle rather than Sami dealing with being raped/sexually assaulted. And top it off the family is propping EJ to Sami. Pahlease. This is just disgusting, twisted, and nasty.

Are you sure Guza's not writing this sh*t? Cause this would be right up his alley.

she CHOSE to sleep with him.

Like every rape, she did not have a choice. It was either give in or watch her husband die. In my opinion, she was raped

He didn't force her to sleep with him.

She felt forced into doing it to help her husband

She didn't have a choice when there was a loaded gun just a few inches from her.

No. This is up Higley's ally, too. She had Margaret rape Todd so she would get pregnant with his child. Higley is probably mad she didn't get to write most of this story. And if she did, Rape turn romance would have went faster. I was an idiot to think that Higley would write Sami and Lucas better. I should have known she would hop on the Sami and her rapist bandwagon.

It was Lumi's car, EJ just hijacked it. It was the same car Lumi drove to camp out on thier honey moon I believe.

Actually it was Lexie's car, I'm pretty sure. Remember how Lexie and Tek (who?) were involved in that whole storyline back in the day? Yeah, neither do the writers.

But anyway... frankly, I think it's pretty gosh darn silly for EJami fans at this point to let themselves fall into the trap set by anti-EJami folks to defend/explain what went down that night just so they don't get branded with the Scarlet "R" because people who are STILL PISSED about this aren't going to change their minds. Let them brand you if it makes them feel better. It's all they got.

Also, while I am pretty much over the argument about how to classify what happened that night (be it rape, sextortion, indecent proposal or business transaction) I think it's total B.S. to say that because Dena Higley tries to move past this crap and write EJ and Sami in some sort of normal soap way when she was handed such a flucked up storyline that equates to her believing that rape = romance. Just as I think it's total B.S. for anyone to accuse fans of EJami to believe that rape = romance. Total straw man argument there.

Enjoying the chemistry of EJami or wanting their story told in a way that is not comparable to an after school special or morality tale does not mean you believe rape = romance. It means you think the romantic/dramatic/angst potential of EJami is worth exploring more than benefits of the social message sent by the rehashing of a horribly written, terribly short-sighted plot point from a different head writer 17 months ago that was the rape/sextortion/indecent proposal/business transaction. Period.

And, including everything else, the regression and destruction of Sami, who had finally grown up, is sad. She has now went right back to the selfish, spoiled little girl who only cares about herself, and to hell with everyone else.

And I say GOOD. Selfish Sami is the one I know and love. Really that's the only Sami that's actually compatible with EJ. Grown up Sami, whatever that means (do you mean CONSTANTLY CRYING Sami?), was a total bore. But that said... I don't see how this is THAT MUCH of a regression for Sami. After all, Sami was making out with EJ last April as part of her seduction scheme to try to kill him and at that point it was even worse as she was making out with EJ behind Lucas's back (never telling him how she lured EJ to that cabin EVER) and this was all while she was engaged to Lucas. At this point, she's apparently only sleeping with EJ, her husband, after fighting her feelings for months trying to stay faithful to Lucas while married to EJ but only giving into them after Lucas has made it clear he wants nothing to do with her. What else is she supposed to do at that point but move on? Then again, I think Lucas shooting EJ was pretty selfish on his part, so in addition to just not liking the character much I obviously have a lot less sympathy for him than others might.

Speaking of Lucas... that's really where the character growth/change happened in the Sami-Lucas relationship under Hogan so I'm curious to see what Dena does with Lucas when he cames back. Looking back on things... was is it a mistake for Lucas to take back Sami after the truth came out after their wedding or what? I hope Dena doesn't write Lucas the ineffectual doormat for Sami that Hogan did.

Him getting his drinking problem back would be outstanding.

great post, so true.

and indecent proposal is the perfect way to describe it, IMHO.

Tomorrow's prevuze has their little 5 minute talk about the rape. It includes this touching piece of dialogue:

EJ: I made love to you because of the way I felt about you and thought you felt the same way.

Poor Elvis simply misinterpreted the situation. No biggie.
