Webmaster Errol Posted April 5, 2008 Webmaster Share Posted April 5, 2008 I find the cockblocking of the two as internal conflict between the staff at PGP and advertisers. Barbara Bloom speaking about the story is telling of how much influence a fanbase can make to get a person who doesn't talk much about their soaps storylines to talk (this is in contrast to Brian Frons at ABC who can't shut his mouth). Will things change? Honestly, no. Soaps like Hollyoaks and the Sci Fi drama Torchwood can have their male characters kiss because A. They are filmed and produced in another country, B. They are aired in what we call "primetime" hours, and C. They don't have advertisers threatening to pull out their ad dollars from programs that are already on the brink of cancellation. This is all reflective of how this country reacts to things that deals with change. Racial issues still are a problem in this day and age and sexuality is looked upon as the devils work, almost as if those people who prefer same-sex relationships are witches and/or warlocks. Obviously this mentality is sickening, but until the world can get its act together, we'll still have people with influence dictating what people can or can not see on television and in movies (with less than a PG-13 rating, at least) including how much diversity is in a program and if a gay/lesbian relationship could be the leading relationship instead of an "education." Members Soapsuds
I can see Nuke gone in 6 months. That's how bad the pairing has gotten. They are just giving crumbs to those Nuke fans still holding on to dear life.
