Lemur Kingdom

Anyone watch the new show on Animal Planet Fri. night Lemur Kingdom?? They are something with those red eyes and bushy ring- tails and leaping and sometime jumping 30 ft. Lemurs are small primates native only to the island of Madagascar and the neighboring Comoro Islands. Some species of lemurs are now extinct, including one ancient lemur said to be as large as a gorilla -- over 400 pounds. Today's lemur species range in size from the tiny pygmy mouse lemur, weighing in at about an ounce, to the 15-pound indri lemur and the sifaka, which are both about the size of a standard house cat. Most lemurs are arboreal, living in trees. They spend most of their time at the top of the rainforest canopy or in the forest midlevel. An exception is the ring-tailed lemur, which spends most of its time on the ground. Lemur females are dominant.

On LK there are two families the Furies the more volatile - made up of several families now led by new leader Amazon who just had a baby and the Graveyard Gang just one family - who live in a graveyard - led by laid back Juno who also had a baby. I think Juno is my favorite Lemur, also like Peg Leg - the oldest Lemur in the Graveyard Gang, he is 13 and has only 3 legs, he lost one of his legs years ago from attack by a wild dog, but he just keeps going and going and even got the prize one week Queen Juno. The biggest threat to these creatures is humans - maybe the message will get through with this show, not only are we losing the rainforest little by little, but there are families living there and moms trying to saved their babies.

<_<

Peg Leg and some of the male Lemurs lost lot of their fur from eating poison leaves in the Lemur society the high status females eat first and best, the males will have to settle for what food is left, but it's for the best - because the females must keep their fur for the baby lemurs to hold on to - so they can be carried around - so if someone is going to lose their fur it's that's it the males. :D

On LK - Juno was distracted for a sec and her sister Sophie [who has no children and wants a baby] snatched Queen Juno's baby Jasmine now we must wait till next Fri. if Sophie gives the baby back - sometime childless lemur females will take a baby and not give it back to the mother, but I can't see Juno putting up with sister keeping her baby and poor little Jasmine is scared without her mommy.

Juno got little Jasmine back, but now the Graveyard Gang is having to flee a lighting fire and Peg Leg is worried about his BBF Nimbus. How lemurs sleep curled up together in a tree without falling off - I can't figure out.

:o:mellow:

Wow, DAMfan-- I'm gonna have to start watching this show. You're recaps are very interesting. I just saw a commercial for this show yesterday. I haven't been watching much Animal Planet since Meerkat Manor hasn't come back yet.

On LK, after the fire - Juno got the Graveyard Gang home to the graveyard safe only Nimbus was missing and Peg Leg would not give up till he found his BFF and took him home, also the Gang was both scared and amused with a big tortoise.

On LK - the Graveyard Gang was upset with a hedge hog and humans with shovels that invaded their home at the graveyard, also there was a rumble between the Gang and their foes the Furies and Queen Amazon may win the worst mother of the year - she doesn't seam to notice she has lost her baby son Orinoco - her first baby son Gizmo died from neglect.
