Members Sylph
Timberlake has a 'Problem' By Nellie Andreeva Reveille has teamed with Justin Timberlake to produce an American adaptation of the hit Peruvian comedy "My Problem With Women" for NBC. The project, which Reveille will co-produce with U.K.-based Power and Frecuencia Latina International, follows the adventures of Jose, a thirtysomething bachelor who begins seeing a therapist in an attempt to understand why all of his romantic relationships fail. "Problem" marks musician-actor Timberlake's first executive producing duties on a scripted TV project. He is exec producing with his manager, David Schiff; Reveille's Howard T. Owens and Todd Cohen; Power's Justin Bodle and Chris Philip; and the original series' producer, Jaime Carbajal. Frecuencia's Miki Ivcher will serve as an associate producer and Jay Weisleder as a consulting producer."I am very excited to be collaborating with Reveille to bring this hugely successful format to NBC," Timberlake said. "Problem," which has received a script commitment by NBC, is based on the Peruvian show "Mi Problema con las Mujeres," which was created by Perez Garland, Christian Buckley and Paul Vega. The comedy, which launched in July, has been sold to 20 countries."Mi Problema," part of Power's catalog of international formats, was brought to Reveille by Philip, a former NBC Uni international sales executive in charge of Latin America. "It looked incredible; the production values and the caliber of the acting and writing were eye-popping," Owens said. "It's also very insightful and thought-provoking. As the world is getting smaller in the digital age, its comedy and the social themes, like battle of the sexes, not only resonate in Lima, Peru, but also in New York City."Owens and his partners at Reveille jumped on board and approached Timberlake, whom they had been looking for years to collaborate on a series. "We think he is the best artists in the world across different platforms, and we want to tap his creative energy and storytelling abilities," Owens said.Reveille is behind the most successful U.S. adaptations of foreign scripted series on the air: NBC's "The Office" and ABC's "Ugly Betty."The company has been particularly active in Latin America, where it has picked up such formats as "Yo Soy Betty, la Fea," which became "Ugly Betty," as well as two other Colombian telenovelas, "Sin Tetas No Hay Paraiso," now in development at NBC, and "La Ex," which the company recently acquired from Caracol TV. On the unscripted side, Reveille produces the hit NBC reality series "The Biggest Loser" and "American Gladiators.""Problem" marks first foray into comedy for Power, the leading European producer of high-end TV movies and miniseries. It cracked the U.S. series market in the fall when NBC handed the company a 13-episode order for adventure drama "Robinson Crusoe." For film and TV, Timberlake is repped by the Schiff Co. and the Firm. From Hollywood Reporter
