I think they care about their bottom line too, probably more so than any other aspect of the business. I believe they would not knowingly have made bad loans unless they were pushed to do so. Pressure from the government can be a very powerful thing.

Why else would they have taken the risk, knowing the possible outcome? Do you think they are all dumbies?

YOU using W. for effect in referencing the President is acceptable, whereas MY using H. for effect in referencing the Senator from Illinois is NOT acceptable.

I'm not saying anything is wrong with being country. I'm from the south so don't get all offended. Obviously you were looking to find some offense in that because I'm sure GWB would welcome being called "country."

Did anyone ever call BC, Bill J? Or GHWB George H? They aren't popularly referred to as those names, why should Obama be called Barry H all of a sudden? It doesn't exactly roll off the tongue.

They pretty much have to listen to any party that is in power. The government holds a large degree of leverage over business...Hence the term "power" when referred to the party..

Barry is just more fun to say... rolls off the tongue like... well... Mary or Jerry. Even Larry... But even better because, when I say Barry, I get goosebumps all over and I know everything will be just fine...

Slick Willie doesn't have anything to do with terrorism (well, it might if you're a woman...), but you know what I mean. Saddam HUSSEIN anyone. I can only say it's obvious what people think of when they hear that name, which is why I say it depends on your motives when you use it.

Speaking of names, is there a reason that nearly nobody called John McCain by his middle name during the convention? Was that supposed to be a jab at democrats that I'm just now picking up on? They nearly all said John S. McCain.

I'm only half following this since I don't read all of the posts and I applaud you for dealing with this. People call refer to Bush as W or GW to distinguish him from his father since he isn't a junior, otherwise he'd probably be referred to as Jr. That's not comparable to calling someone by a name that isn't commonly used in reference to that person.
