June 17, 200817 yr Member John Yorke. RIGHT ON! I'd never seen a picture of him. Man, I wish BBC-A would get their act together.
June 17, 200817 yr Member RIGHT ON! I'd never seen a picture of him. Man, I wish BBC-A would get their act together. I LOVED EastEnders when he was EP there. However, since he's become Controller of BBC Drama Series, I don't think EastEnders, Casualty, Holby City and Doctors have been that great at all.

June 19, 200817 yr Member Is it possible Chuck Pratt might bring breakdowns back to AMC? And does anyone know if GH is still doing breakdowns? I thought OLTL was the only ABC soap still doing them but in a recent interview Tom Casiello praised OLTL and GH for not eliminating the position. Maybe that was a mistake. I do not look forward to Pratt's headwriting but I do look forward to better dialogue for AMC. Michael Cinquemani is probably safe since he worked at GH for most of Pratt's run. Other than that the only person worth keeping is Kate Hall. Hopefully Pratt will recognize her talent but I can see him getting rid of everyone he doesn't know.

It was a mistake, because OLTL is the only ABC soap currently keeping the breakdown position. Chuck could bring it back, but from we were told, it was Julie's decision to eliminate that position. What Tom Casiello interview? His podcast at Daytime Confidential.

Dave Goldschmid is a breakdown writer, and he's still there. (He doesn't write scripts like Conforti or Wolf sometimes do) Y&R also has breakdowns. Those are the only three. I hear Guza stood up for his breakdown writers though. ABC wanted to can them.

Not surprised about Guza, he's very loyal to his staff. I thought B&B also used breakdowns as well. Isn't that what Elizabeth Snyder, Kay Alden, and Michael Minnis do? June 20, 200817 yr Member Thanks for the correction, I was going by what Toups told us earlier in the year. Not surprised about Guza, he's very loyal to his staff. I thought B&B also used breakdowns as well. Isn't that what Elizabeth Snyder, Kay Alden, and Michael Minnis do? They're not really breakdowns, from what I understand. Since it's only a half-hour show, they just crank out notes on each act. I guess you can call it a breakdown, but it's not the official breakdown process that exist(ed) at other shows. It's a lot looser. Or not. Who knows what's changed in the last few months?
June 20, 200817 yr Member I think brimike is correct, Snyder/Alden/Minnis write outlines, not detailed breakdowns. I know that Alden also acts a script editor, the other two might as well.
