DAYS: E.J. Spoiler

No, it really won't matter to everyone no matter WHO is killed off the show. However, when you start advocating killing off a character you don't like, what if TPTB (while dealing with their budget issues) decide that character is not the only one they want to kill off? If your favorite characters are vets on the show, pretty soon that axe will fall in their direction. Expect it. Right now, I think Days is fighting to stay alive...and Corday will do whatever he thinks is necessary to make this show marketable to other networks or cable.

No one character on this show, or any daytime drama, will determine whether the soap sinks or swims. If you track the ratings back to the first of this year, you'll notice they dropped (noticably) after an NBC official announced Passions would be cancelled this year, and Days likely wouldn't be around after 2009. Had that never happened (the DOOL part) there might have been some drop in ratings this year, but they wouldn't be as bad as they are right now. As for NBC itself, even their primetime ratings aren't measuring up to what they used to be.

Very well put - Thank You!!

Wonder if it's more important for Days to hold onto viewers, or to court those who might be happy if any character is killed off but still won't be willing to watch. I'm not sure how many more viewers Days can afford to piss off.

He is a fine actor, and for me that's one very good reason he should stay on Days. If they need to cut more, cut those that don't do so well when it comes to acting (even if their character is written like the Virgin Mary -- which naturally none are).

Whether EJ is Stalin or whether he is Ghandi is irrelevent. The fact of the matter is, the character has been on for two years and it feels like ten. He is userping airtime from beloved, established vets and fan faves and the ratings are reflecting the uproar among fans (among other reasons). TPTB need to write him out atleast for a short while so that other worthy actors are able to shine. JS is talented, there's no doubt about it, but even the finest actors wear out their welcome quickly when they are crammed down viewers' throats on a daily basis.

I've posted my view on this several times.

EJamicus and Sorority Row are being featured way too much. They are force fed down our throats day in and day out at the expense of other actors.

TPTB need to establish balance. Its crucial that they give viewers, and the heavily featured actors, a breather and advance past the only one or two storylines that are in existence right now. Viewer interest has grown stagnant because of overkill, just look at the ratings. You can have great writing and great production values, but when it comes down to it, people will tire of monotony. I know I have.

Because right now, it would be a start, plain and simple. We don't know if they would use vets more or bring someone new on. The point is that we would have a break from a man who I doubt missed more than one day onscreen since he debuted. That right there would be a welcome occurence.

I so agree with you on the balance issue. I too think Scott is a capable actor but no matter who it is, great actor or not, anyone shoved down our throats from the first day they come on scene, I grow tired of. That is also what is basically wrong with the EJamicus triangle. Too much air time in a story that they all should just be a part of and not the focus of.
