Farah really should only be a supporting character and funny friend because she can't do emotional scenes very well. I only started hating her hardcore when JER moved her from Belle's friends to front-burner, let's-get-her-a-mom-and-two-brothers character.

Nah, u may be one of the few on this board but not the only one by all means. I think Farah is a good actress and will be a great addition to OLTL, the cast and crew already seem to like her. I can't wait until her debut day, OCTOBER 24th!!

Here is her new blog talking about her first week on the set of OLTL. :)

My first week taping...

Well I'm pooped. :-D I just taped 11 episodes in 4 days. I've never done that many in a week before. My first day was last Friday (the 5th) and I only did half a show that day. So now that I've worked there for 5 days I feel like I've experienced enough to share how my new job is going. Which is...GREAT! I'm almost a bit blown away at how nice everyone is! The welcome I have recieved is beyond warm. I would say scolding hot. The cast and crew at "One Live to Live" are amazing. I just have to get that out there! Even though I had so much material this week it was a blast. Erika Slezak is ridiculous! In a good way!!!!! I've never met an actor who is so on the ball. She doesn't even so much as glance at her script and every take she's in, she nails. It's been such an honor to work with her. I'm just trying to keep up!

As for my character, "Gigi"...she's a lot of fun to play. I will go ahead and say she's similar to "Mimi" in the sense they're both funny. "Gigi" doesn't have the insecurities that "Meems" had though. She's much stronger. I'm trying hard to play them differently but it's tough 'cause they're written a bit alike. My storyline is great. There's a lot of mystery surrounding "Gigi". I can't wait to see how everything pans out :-P

As for living in New York...I'm loving it! It's so different than anything I'm used to. There's so much to look at and so many places to go. And I tackled one of my greatest fears...learning the subway!

Last but not least I would just like to thank Alison Sweeney for making my first day at work extra special! She made a tape for me and had all the "Days" cast & crew on it wishing me luck! I was shocked...it was SO thoughtful! But first she kind of "punked" me...you can see the prank on www.soapoperadigest.com

Were only a week and half away!! yay!

Love,

Farah

    • I very much liked office Cleary and the actress who portrayed her (as you say, Mary Peterson).  A shame her turn didn't evolve into a contract role.   BTW, does anyone know the timeframe/years that Betty Rae served as casting director?  If i understand correctly, she not only led the effort for contract roles, but also for shorter 13- and 26-week roles.  IMO, GL had LOTS of very well-casted, limited roles, too. I'm surprised the actors throughout the soap industry, and especially P&G actors, have not assembled a book or something similar, praising Rae.  Each actor could write a few paragraphs or a page of text describing his or her experience.
    • No. Ruth had an extramarital affair with David while married to Joe.
    • I'm not sure I agree with Bernstein's children on that. Bernstein's life and activism here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leonard_Bernstein#Social_activism_and_humanitarian_efforts
    • Thursday & Friday's episodes were excellent. The build-up was most definitely worth the wait (2 months). TMG, I can't give her enough accolades. AM, was also absolutely incredible. I think the fallout is going to have a ripple effect. The little clues that have been dropped,  hopefully, will weave seamlessly to reveal even bigger bombshells for the Dupree's and Martin.
    • Thanks, msn drives me nuts on the one hand but on the other hand their headlines appeal to me. And, I just don't do FoxNews.
    • The link doesn't work.  The actual link is this: https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/composer-leonard-bernstein-s-children-request-his-music-be-played-in-the-kennedy-center-in-rebuke-to-trump/ar-AA1E7gw5 That's a reprint of a FoxNews article. MSN reprints stuff from many sources. You can tell the source from the logo above the headline on the msn page. The FoxNews article is describing what Leonard Bernstein's children wrote -- as a "letter to the editor" of the New York Times. Instead of reading it filtered through FoxNews, here is the original: "Our Dad, Leonard Bernstein, Would Want His Music Played at the Kennedy Center" https://www.nytimes.com/2025/05/02/opinion/kennedy-center-leonard-bernstein-protest.html Non-paywall archived copy of the same NYTimes letter, without commentary: https://archive.is/QaLqD
    • Might be a long shot, because I can't find a thing online about it, but I was Googling the actress that played Nell Cleary (Frank's cop friend that went through academy and then became cops together during the entire Brent Lawrence storyline). To my surprise, she passed away in 2011, at the very young age of 45. I can't find her obituary or anything online about her passing, but I'm curious, does anyone know what happened? Her IMDB only shows a few other acting gigs post-Guiding Light, so she didn't make a career out of it, but I thought she was a great actress in her role as Cleary. Her name was Mary Peterson.
    • What was Ruth Martin's association to the Thornton family?  I only remember the daughter that dated Tad, and she had a buxom mother.  But, did Ruth date David Thorton before Joe?

Why didn't Steve respect Monica and Jeff's decision?  I get he's Jeff's father, and that's how it came out, but I don't like the ethics of the story. A stranger gets to make life or death decisions over a wife's demands?   I hope Monica secretly never forgave Steve's chauvinism.
    • Question: Jon-Michael Reed's review of 1977 is up in the retro soap section.  It includes a fleeting reference to comedic scenes between Jeanne Cooper and Julianna McCarthy regarding “Kay's would-be beau, Ralph the Plumber”.  Could someone please fill me in will more details? I forgot that Kay and Liz were friendly before Jill stole Kay's husband.  And the thought of Liz playing a comedic scene blows my mind, because I only recall her being dour both in demeanor and wardrobe.
