These ratings were posted on another message board from 2003.

1. Y&R 4.9/16 (+.3)

2. DAYS 3.9/12 (+.3)

3. B&B 3.8/12 (+.3)

4. GH 3.4/10 (+.3)

5. ATWT 3.2/10 (same)

5 OLTL 3.2/10 (+.4)

5 AMC 3.2/10 (+.4)

8. GL 2.6 (+.1)

9. PSNS 2.3/7 (+.1)

These ratings were just four years, I think around February. I just can't believe that Passions actually got 2.3 back then, abd now it be maybe the fourth watched show today and all soaps gained.

The View is up for ABC but that isn't translating to more viewers for AMC. I'm hoping the new Price is Right will bring some viewers to CBS once it starts in mid-October.

These ratings were printed in SOD's Oct. 21, 2003 issue (for week of Sept. 22, 2003):

1. Y&R 4.5

2. B&B 3.5

3. GH 3.2

4. ATWT 3.0

5. DOOL 3.0

5 AMC 3.0

5 OLTL 2.9

8. GL 2.6

9. PSNS 2.1

Comparing those to the ratings posted earlier for 2003, it appears a lot of the soaps took a hit that year: Y&R went down .4; Days slid .9; B&B went down .3; GH, ATWT, Passions, and AMC went down .2; and OLTL slid .3. Only GL remained at the same level it was in the spring.

1. Y&R 4.9/16 (+.3)

2. DAYS 3.9/12 (+.3)

3. B&B 3.8/12 (+.3)

4. GH 3.4/10 (+.3)

5. ATWT 3.2/10 (same)

5 OLTL 3.2/10 (+.4)

5 AMC 3.2/10 (+.4)

8. GL 2.6 (+.1)

9. PSNS 2.3/7 (+.1)

BTW...the fall 2003 ratings I'm posting were in the last week or two of PC's run...when most of the affiliates had unhooked them. We're in the same situation with Passions just leaving the air now. Perhaps there is some relationship between soap ratings and the cancellation of individual soaps. Even if only a million and a half people were watching Passions (or Port Charles) and they got angry about losing their show, they might have tuned out the other soaps they were watching out of spite.

I don't think it's out of spite, as much as it's just the fact that they no longer have a reason to tune into daytime, hence not watching other shows that comes on before or after it.
