So, Sami is violated-- for the second time in her life, at that-- and everyone other than Lucas and a few peripheral characters (Celeste, Nick) finds out off screen. They get together at the Pub and discuss the fact that EJ may have fathered her baby with a collective "meh."

Not only that, but when they intreact with Sami, no one suggests counseling.

No one offers sympathy.

No one asks how she's doing.

No even considers pressing charges-- in fact, they moan about not having a witness to the OTHER major crime the perpetrator committed that night.

Gross.

All the writers had to do to keep EJ running free for a while longer was have Sami say "I can't bring myself to press charges after what happened with Alan. I can't go through the stress while I'm pregnant, and I don't want my teenager following this on the news." The others could reluctantly agree, especially since due to her past shenanigans, she might not be given much credibility by a judge if she had to testify.

But no.

She was raped, and it's a non-issue.

She was raped, and the reveal is off-screen.

She was raped, and it's all who's-the-daddy like she had a damn affair.

She was raped, and she's offering friendship to her rapist.

She was raped, and nobody cares-- not even her.

Gross.

You're right. No one at the pub asked why theres a possibility that her child could be EJ's? How it happened? That is said!

Although, if they had spoken of what happened, and Sami had contemplated pressing charges, she would've been successful! She has evidence of blackmail.

That is sad!

I agree with Kenny here. Rape is inexcusable, but they do have amazing chemistry and I can see EJami being a couple in the future.

I agree, too many people seem to want to push Sami and EJ together soon because they have chemistry. However, they must deal with the fact that EJ's violated Sami in just about every way possible. Two characters can have chemistry, but something as serious as rape should definitely not be ignored.

We need to be realistic, why would we want Sami to suddenly jump into something serious with her rapist? Just because they have chemistry? Please . . .

Eh, Laura's rape was rewritten or glossed over for years until the 90's. In fact, Laura once referred to the incident as "seduction", which was beyond lame.

But remember, the most important thing is chemistry. The story takes a backseat to that. The thing is if this was a violent, brutal rape, there would be no possibility of a romance. But instead it was a "nicer rape".....you know with no bruises or her screaming for her life.....also we didn't actually see the rape on screen......so bring on the romance!!

I'm all for an EJ/Sami romance, and I will not let a storytelling misstep prevent it from happening--no matter how many posters tell me it's sick. Sami has raped people before (Austin); she's shot people, hurt people, lied to people... all sorts of horrible things. She didn't deserve it. But she is also strong enough to get over it. And if EJ is somehow redeemed, I'm all for it.

It is irrational, and I would not support this type of action in real life, but... Well, but nothing! I don't need to justify my feelings. I want it.

Hogan Sheffer is the head writer. But Douglas Marland wrote a rape storyline involving Margo. And it was well done and he was a male writer.

I'm not asking that the rape be swept under the rug. I wish they would tackle it and deal with it head-on! The way they've dealt with it thus far has been rather disappointing.

If they could take Luke and Laura from rape to a supercouple, I'm sure that EJ can be redeemed, as well. Look at Sami! That girl's a rapist, herself... she's a fan favorite! Look at Jack Deveraux -- another rapist turned hero. This is a soap opera, and anything is possible. I don't celebrate the rape, but I do see it as a giant mistake in the story. I wish it hadn't happened, but it did. I'm not going to let that destroy the fact that there's major possibility with the chemistry between Sweeney and Scott, though. Writing mistakes can be mended, always. Again, look at Luke/Laura and Jack Deveraux, or rapist Sami Brady, herself.

Everyone agrees that rape is bad and it needs to be handled accordingly. Both LUMI and EJAMI fans agree on that, even though I'm sure one side will disagree. When all that is over, and they've given EJ some redemption, gimme some EJAMI!

I've always wanted Days to incorporate more socially relevant topics into its storytelling, but for some reason, when they have the chance, it usually goes bust. The groundwork is definitely there, it just needs to be exploited.
