I don't blame Hogan, I blame JER, Corday, Hoggie! I blame them all. Plus she played some good story in the first two murders during the Salem Stalker. The sad thing is that was "Her Finale" storyline. If Corday and all of the genre was smart enough they would realize that yes we want to see favorites such as Rogers as Maggie, she wants to work and is most likely she could be there with a smaller price tag that others such as PR and KA bring and she could be utlized to the fullest advantage. I place a lot of blame on Hoggie because I sat through his tenture at ATWT and know how he treats this age range 90% of the time they have no story and they are used only as drink servers or "Hello! Stephanie!" scenes. And I also know what he can do: Susan's storyline on ATWT kicked a$$ in so many ways! I would 85% say that if Rogers didn't have a contract and was only recurring then we wouldn't see her at all because those drink servers would be an under five, which is what she is most of the time.

Actually, she was featured quite prominently during the serial killer storyline.

Okay for the entire month of October, and then what happened? Oh yeah, she died! She made a few brief apparances as ridiculous ghosts and then appeared about 3 times on Melaswen. She was very prominently featured. :rollsyes:

5 months is hardly enough time to build a character. This is not JER's days where things were painted on the screen before the character was developed. Excuse Hogan for trying to write a character and not plots.

That's the thing, though. He's been back all this time, and I've seen no character development. None. Hell, we never even see him unless he's on Shawn and Belle's asses, and even then, it's the same lines.

"My daddy could own you!"

"Give me back my daughter!"

"My daddy could own you!"

"Give me back my daughter!"

In five months, we should've had more than that. If he had just been brought on a month or two ago, I'd say, "Alright... I'll give it time." But it's been half a year, and we've gotten nothing out of him other than being a prop for Shawn and Belle. It bores me, and Jay's portrayal makes me want to vomit. I must admit, though, I get a chuckle when he tries to scream and be scary, yet his voice isn't strong enough and he ends up sounding like a teenager whining to their parents. When he screeches for Shawn and Belle to give back his daughter, he sounds just like a little kid that doesn't want to share his toys.

Building a character is one thing however we've known Phillip as an adult since 1999! He should have had a clear cut idea of where he was going and ran with it! We know Phillip and we have the face to back it up with...if you got it you run with it!

The hourglass being empty is not Hogan's fault. He has plans for his characters. Everything falls into place. Fans just need to let it happen without bitching.

AMEN!!!

Now as for the contracts, the only one I see leaving is Shawn Sr. I can see him being killed this summer in the feud story.

Pinson loves Days and probably would take a pay cut to stay. Rogers is at least getting airtime. Yes, she should get a story but at least she is being used. McCay will stay but I think she will be on contract. I don't think her or Rogers will be dropped only because my understanding is it's cheaper for them to be on contract. Rogers and McCay would take cuts to stay. Where else will they go?

Alfonso is going nowhere and either is Reckell. Days has been late recently with contract info so I expect to hear something soon.

Madison loves the show and has said repeatedly she wants to be there for as long as they will have her. Even if she wanted to leave, Corday would break the bank to keep her. He has to have his Shelle.

As for JKJ, he may stay or go because he wants bigger then Days. I don't think he will leave due to material or story. It will be a career choice. He needs to tone it down a bit and the writing needs to improve for him but he isn't terrible. He is a very capable actor and let's remember of his 4 full months here he was only on half of January and was backburnered most of March. The character is slowly developing. The show DOES have time and this is a character-driven show now. That is something I feel some folks aren't grasping.

He's been back 5 months! Let the damn character be evil for a while. You don't know what Hogan has in store for Philip. I don't either. There could be a redemption storyline in his future. There may not be. Watch and see.

There's no need for sarcasm, Drew. I wasn't trying to negate your claim -- yes, Maggie has been featured quite well under Hogan. I was simply noting that for a while, under JER, she was leading story... not just on alot as a supporting character, but on alot (in the time frame of about two months) as a LEAD.

CORRECTION! We've known Philip as the rich spoiled boy through Salem High and then we knew Philip was the faux-military man from 2003-2006. Those aren't characters. Those are lables, lables that help tell a plot. Hogan is writing for the character of Philip, a man that was scorned by the only woman he ever truly loved. What do you expect out of him? Of course he's going to be crazy!

You shouldn't need five months to build a character that already existed.

Yeah, we knew Willow was a trashy crazy-scheming gutter ho with no future in five seconds....

I say this with the upmost respect and admiration for DAYS and their fans, but can they really afford to wait around and let things happen? They need to know where they are going with their stories and their characters and GO FOR IT!!! The hourglass might not be empty yet, but sadly some at NBC think it is and DAYS has to do something to shake it up and get the viewers back, according to the ratings.

When the character was writtne under the horrible writers that were on before, yes you do.

My complaint isn't that Phillip is evil. In fact, I prefer him to the snoozy-woozy Phillip from his high-school days.

My complaint is that if they're going to write him as a bad guy, they need to make it interesting. Having him repeat the same childish lines over and over and over doesn't cut it for me. He's used as a prop, and in five months, he could've/should've been fleshed out more. It's been FIVE months. Not one -- FIVE. And it's been a bust, because he sucks as a bad guy. He also sucks as a good guy. He all around sucks, no matter where you go with him. Part of it has to do with the writing and his placement as a prop in the story, and part of it has to do with Jay Johnson. No matter how they write Phillip, be it one month or 73, I'm not going to like him because the character and his portrayer BORE. ME. TO. TEARS. MY OPINION. If you feel differently, great. But I disagree.

I would rather see Hogan and Corday plan this show and give great quality, at least for the next 2 years, rather than a piece of sh*t, hoping they can save the show.
