Casino Royale

Surprised not to see a topic for it.

Saw it last week, and it was much better than I thought it would be. Lots of action sequences and less special effects.

The plot was interesting but really jumped around and was lightening fast. I nearly forgot what was going on at some points.

I loved the opening title sequence with the song "You Know My Name". Very good.

Two key characters were missing, though, but considering I guess since they weren't in the book, they aren't in the movie either. Judi Dench was a hoot as M.

Eva Green was a good Bond girl. Really liked her character.

Daniel Craig was decent as Bond. I liked him enough and he grew on me as the movie progressed.

The ending though ... nice twist. Very enjoyable movie, actually.

I called Vesper as being "evil". Most Bond girls are.

I really liked Casino Royale. Definitely up there as one of the best Bond movies.

The plot was pretty good. Not the best. I think the villains were a little under developed in this one though. Le Chiffre died, so I have no idea who the half-sunglassed guy was in the building collapse sequences, or the "Mr White" at the very end.

and You Know My Name has been playing in heavy rotation on my comp/iPod.

I was a little surprised about Vesper but I guess I shouldn't of been, considering that cheesy romantic "ending" they initially got.

Right after I got home I added the song to my iPod as well.

Supposedly, the next Bond movie with Craig will carry over from Casino Royale.

I liked the movie. I thought it was refreshing start that was needed. I thought the opening and Chris Cornell's song were both great. The plot was a little hard for me to follow at the time, but afterwords I worked it out. I knew there'd be a problem with Vesper. Reviews said the movie would explain why James is the was he is. And so I expected either her to get killed (ala James' wife in On Her Majesty's Secret Service) or betray him.

I've also heard the next movie will continue the story.

Loved this movie! Daniel Craig is by far better in this role as James Bond that Pierce Brosnan ever was. I'm glad they re-invented bond the way Batman Begins re-invented the Batman franchise. It is a refreshing change. This film was a lot darker.

That's great news, I was hoping that would be the case. Loved this movie, far better than any of the Brosnan ones IMO.

I kinda agree ... I liked Brosnan but his Bond flicks were never my absolute favorite ...

I liked Goldeneye and The World is Not Enough.

My friend and I were discussing them earlier today at work and we did come to realize the Brosnan ones all seemed to have a heavy dependance on evil-satelite stories.

Saw it this weekend and ABSOLUTELY LOVED it!!

Was a little long, but Daniel Craig was SO good as Bond, WAY the F*CK better than Pierce "Im a ham" Brosnan.

Definitely the best Bond movie since Goldeneye!

Saw it - finally!

Eva Green was so delicious, same goes for Judi Dench (did we ever see that much of M before???) who Bond called "Mom". Daniel Craig did fit but I still don't like him that much.

Before I can comment fully, allow me one question please: The guy who Bond killed at the very at Lake Como... Did my eyes deceive me or was he at the beginning of the film shown together with M? This would mean taht M staged the whole conclusion of the story to harden him as a 00-agent...

I'm not sure, therefore an answer would be greatly appreciated.

Funny trivial side-note. Bond hit the excact same "vacation" spots I did in 2006: Prague, Venice, Como. Switch the Bahamas for Rome and you may call me Bond, James Bond. :P
