Now it wouldn't be the first time they lied but given that a 13 week cycle is up for her within the next week or two, I don't see why they would lie and then have the truth come out a week later. Good or bad news? For me, I don't know. I've never ever seen a talent squandered as badly and as long as her. And I think we all know she will never have a story. And if there are more cuts coming as SOD reported last week and it's not Aiden T. or Teri, who is it? Julia Barr? James Mitchell? Eileen Herlie? I'd prefer they lose Aiden and Teri. I just don't get why she is there. Does she fufill a minority quota for them or something? BTW James Mitchell and Eileen Herlie were both at the studio the other week together. More frequently than anything, they are fired right after a new cycle begins or mid-cycle. Mostly, because when actors are notified, they still have to tape up to in some cases several weeks afterward. Max Alexander was notified in September 2003, for example, that his next 13-week cycle had been picked up. Two weeks later, he was notified he was being let go. He still had to tape at the show for one month afterward. The remaining time he had on his contract cycle -- he didn't work, but "AMC" didn't have to work him, they just had to pay him until the end of that cycle. And then he was gone. Or take Marj Dusay. The esteemed Ms. Dusay had 26-week cycles when she was let go. She taped her last scenes in September 2002, but they had her under-contract until November 2002. They didn't have to wait until the end of that cycle to notify her and continue working her. I think Terri's eventual departure can be blamed on Burton Armus, not McTavish, unfortunately. He wants to work with a smaller group of characters, so a lot of peripheral characters like Simone, for example, will not be expanded but simply discarded. But there is no WAY Terri will survive the headwriter changeover. Armus has other plans for "AMC." And that's what I've heard. They haven't notified Terri or anything, so that's the denial. It happens. Like in that case over at "GL" - producer Maria Macina leaked to SID Paul Anthony Stewart and Nancy St. Alban were being let go, and P&G came out a week later with a firm denial because the actors didn't know anything. Members alwaysAMC Posted August 31, 2006 Members Share Posted August 31, 2006 Well I'll give them a little credit with the Derek thing...sure, when the announcement that he'd be a contract player came - we rarely saw Derek -- but I guess they were planning way into the future - bc this summer Derek has been on A LOT. Sure, he's playing a supporting character and the stereotypical cop...but these last couple of months he's been on quite often...I'm interested to see the August episode count. Members Casey Posted August 31, 2006 Members Share Posted August 31, 2006 Umm it's been a year since Charles Parnell was added to the cast, I somehow doubt that it was a future thing to put Derek on contract when they replaced Derek during a FRYE storyline which would normally give rise to more airtime. I don't for one second believe that they meant they would put Derek on contract a year or two later, that just doesn't make any sense. However, I do admire your ability to give them the benefit of the doubt...I don't desire to give them the benefit of the doubt anymore...especially when things are so blatant. Members alwaysAMC Posted August 31, 2006 Members Share Posted August 31, 2006 LoL - honestly I can't remember when nuDerek took over and was put on contract - for some reason I was thinking it was early this year around Mardi Gras time - and then they'd use him alot for the Babe/Janet stuff...and then they planned to use him lots for the Madden Murder Mystery...which they have. I remember NuDerek kissing NuJosh's behind after the Garrett mess. I have no idea what month it was, but it was definitely during THAT storyline. I remember that old Derek stayed throughout the Dragon stuff - and nuJosh came on quickly after that... And isn't nuDerek in the opening credits now or am I just making things up? lol - I need to go back to my tapes and see.....I know they took out Livia in the most updated version - and now she's been on more often than she was when she was in the opening credits...it's weird and makes no sense IMO. Well, whether he's on contract or not - nuDerek has been on a LOT and I too wish the old Derek were here to play it out Even though we're seeing the character of Derek alot lately - he's been a total jerk and not the Derek I once knew. McT has crowded this one up so much... she's no Doug Marland, she only writes for like 10 characters so why do we have 35 contracts on this show? Makes ZERO sense.
