I suppose not officially, no. The only things that lead me to believe they were heading that way was down to how CM and JS played off each other during Marlene McPhereson's tenure, plus her run at AMC which was far more daring, what with the sex trafficking story and whatnot. I recall her wanting to push DAYS in this direction of being more daring, and modern, but it never showed on screen, presumably due to the interference.

But of course, it's purely speculation on my end, and Corday, of course, wants to take exactly zero risks with the show, lest he offend the cranky old hens who complain in all caps on Facebook about "smut on their screens".

Tale as old as time, the frauen just didn’t have Facebook back in the day!

  2. If I were writing it... Ben killed people and got away with it. Ciara is still nuts about him. All of Ciara's family and friends are worried about her, but she's hypnotized by the hot guy.

Soaps started sucking when everyone had to start worshiping whichever characters the writers loved that day. For me, it started with Mike Horton on DAYS. Sorry, Nurse Ali is not psycho. OK, maybe she is, but Dr. Horton totally did sexually harass her. I'm not gonna like him just because you said so, DAYS.

This is an unpopular opinion, to be sure, but I really believe DAYS would be better off gone.  NBCUniversal/Comcast has slashed the budget so much -- and you know that if it is renewed, they'll just slash it even more.  Hope DAYS fans love the Blue Room, because it will be the only set you will ever see.  The ONLY set.  And they won't even bother redecorating for each new scene anymore.  You'll just have to take the show's word for it that you're in a completely different location.

Totally disagree. I watch a few DAYS per year. Maybe 20. I certainly find them stupid, but I also find them comforting. It's not hurting anybody by being on. Though if we could get a choice between reruns and new episodes, I'd choose reruns in a second.

As awful as the film quality was, it still had more heart to me and felt more like the show again.

I think you need to make your pronouns clearer here.

Nothing -- and I mean nothing -- will ever be as bad as Peapack.

That was a nice moment between Osaka and Gauff but no way will that make me forget that we have a horrendous man in the White House and that people are being assaulted and killed every day because of who they are and what they look like.  Perhaps Eric Braeden can forget, that's his privilege. I don't have that privilege.

What on earth does that have to do with tennis? It doesn't matter which one of them won, neither one was going to replace the man in the White House.

I thought it was really great of Osaka. She tried to give Gauff the closure that Gauff maybe didn't know she needed in the tournament. And Gauff will be back.

  5. Having a "head canon" is an absolute must these days, otherwise they're not watchable. There are things people on this board tell me about the last years of ATWT, and even though I was watching, I don't remember them at all, because I never let them enter the head canon.

So to answer your question, for me it was probably around 2006/2007 that I allowed myself to just selectively forget things.

    🤣 Don't we all.

DJT has permanently killed the idea of the media as objective arbiters, that is for sure.

We have nothing but opinion media now. It is just the new reality, and it probably already was, but now it's official.

Juan Williams is ahead of Ingraham? She must be crying in her white hood.

This brilliant Susan Collins ad is doing damage:

That ad is grade A trolling!

Susan has always been the Jan to Olympia Snowe's Marcia, and she knows it. Olympia saw the writing on the wall and chose not to run for re-election in 2012. She wanted to get the heck out of the toxic environment that the Senate had become by then.

And then there was the rather infamous romantic scene between Grant Aleksander and Krista Tesreau on Guiding Light circa 1983. They were making out on a couch when the camera pulled back and the viewers could clearly see that Grant was quite aroused. My mom and I were watching and our eyes bulged out (pun quite intended). Mom may have even gasped.

Datalounge mentions this at least 2-3 times per month from what I can tell.

Not that I wanted this pairing, but it looks like DG got his way once again. Poor BM

I mean, I didn't want the pairing either, it was stupid. But DG is like blandly good looking and has no charm. There are thousands of men in Hollywood who look exactly like him. Meanwhile Traci was married to Don Diamont's Brad Carlton, one of the hunkiest soap hunks of all time.

  10. I was open to a non-Eileen Kristen, and to the idea of the Kristen in a Nicole mask storyline, but the execution is just awful and I think they should retire Kristen after this. They’re just not getting her character right. And Kristen is too beloved a character to ruin.

I think gabi should just embrace being the ho that she clearly wants to be and go for it with Stefan.

  11. I can definitely picture Joseph Cross. He had a big growth spurt and just showed up one day during the Margo Hepatitis C storyline like 6 inches taller than the last time we'd seen him. I have zero memory of Ian Boyd and Peter Vack in the role. Or Scott Porter for that matter. But Joseph Cross, Zach Roerig, and Billy Magnussen were all memorable to me.
