  1. And while wer'e on the subject of Dionne... this just rocks my world:
  2. I love Dionne so much. One of the most versatile vocalists of our time. I still remember hearing "I'll Never Love This Way Again" for the first time. I was standing with my mother in the drugstore on a Saturday morning, and it came over the radio, I thought I'd explode with delight right there in the store.
  3. IT WAS???!!! SH!T. It was a classic Y&R death scene, so heart wrenching it could make a serial killer cry.
  4. It was BRILLIANT. And Eve Howard's deathbed scene was one of the biggest tear jerkers I've ever seen. I sobbed for FOUR HOURS after that damned scene. J. Eddie Peck was so brilliant in that I couldn't believe my eyes. I wish someone would put that on youtube! And Eve Howard was a twisted psycho bitch... but Cole's love for his mother was so real you couldn't help but cry like a baby for him.
  5. Damn... all this and no pics of his dick?
  6. Judith Durham makes Streisand sound like dog dookie.
  7. Wer'e supposed to get antenna tv here in 3 or 4 weeks. I can't wait.
  8. Paul, although there are almost no scenes of it on youtube... Amy and Traci were basically best friends. They had tons of scenes together.
  9. You notice Carl... that was the Quad mix.... I love my 1978 Quad stereo system more than words can say. Every damn thing sounds fabulous on it. It was a high end system at the time, but can be had for a song today.
  10. Yes, that's such a great period in music. Lynn Anderson's "Rose Garden" really opened up crossover country, and then Dolly's "Here You Come Again" blew it into the stratosphere. I watched the Mandrell Sisters every week, and Dolly's 1976 variety show as well. That time had so many great songs, and even some one hit wonders that were really memorable, at least for me (She sounds alot like Barbara Mandrell) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=47gdtmWF_tA&feature=related

  12. This is the first time I heard the song that beat out Abba's "Ring Ring" for 1973 Eurovision. Fascianting little ditty, I'd like to know who came up with lyrics like "Your breasts are like swallows a nesting". But they guys are cute as hell, and I want those shirts so bad I can't STAND it. The ending to this song is quite lovely, though.
  13. Fundie altar of schmuckitude? I'm TOTALLY stealing that. I agree that McCain is a malignancy. I don't know who gave him the idea that a man can't suck dick and ALSO shoot a rifle. And yes, the "small town" bit was cringeworthy. He also needs to realize that many people in this country look upon the military as a receptacle for everyone who doesn't have the gumption to make something of themselves in the real world, so you go into the military where every decision is made for you, and you just blindly follow orders like some automaton.
  14. Yes, although videotape was expensive at the time... luckily, Bill Bell wasn't a cheap skate and retained all the master videotapes. So most likely there are quite a few dubs around, too... since Conboy taped off the air every day. At that time, they probably used a Sony U-Matic videotape machine to tape off the air. The Sony U-matic tape only held 60 minutes of footage, and I was told the blank tape cost 10$, which was quite a chunk of change in the early 70's for a videotape. The master would have been most likely 2" videotape... that cost considerably more.
  15. I didn't say I didn't like him, I just don't LOVE him. I think the shoulder pads were something I wasn't that big of a fan of. But here's a question... what's the difference between "dated" and "Period". If it looked good 25 years ago, it looks good today. Just because something is out of style doesn't make it suddenly unnatractive. I'm not a fickle person, If I like something, I will like it forever. What I like about Nolan Miller was his use of color and sense of glamour. His silhouettes, not so much.
  16. They are dated... and some look better than others. But at least they are interesting, unlike what is seen today 90 percent of the time. Nolan Miller, however, has never been my favorite by any means. His clothes to me aren't feminine and sexy enough. I'm a Bob Mackie bitch till the day I die! LOL With Michael Travis coming in a close second.
  17. Anthony Herrera was a stud muffin. I never thought McCook was attactive. the clef tin his chin is far TOO MUCH, and he's got no lips.
  18. Carl... the picture in your original posting is so great because it shows a time when Hollywood had GLAMOUR and COLOR. Nowadays everyone is so obsessed with this bullshit "understated elegance". I can't wait for the pendulum to swing back again, I honestly think fashion of the last 10 years will be judged pretty harshly 15-20 year from now as "boring", and "unimaginative". Is it just me, or do Brenda's gold plated hooters in that pic tend to follow you around the room?
  19. I think thye just need to repeal it, and get it over with. If these military men don't have the emotional discipline to get over being naked in front of a gay man, then they need not be in the military. I had a boyfriend years ago who was an MP in the air force, and he had issues in being open. He wouldn't kiss me in public, etc (He wasn't in the military any more when I dated him) If Canada can handle it, then why can't WE?
  20. In the past, when I worked for others... i've never been hired to work for a rich person, either. Certainly nobody who has a yearly bonus in the billions. My former employers all lived in upper middle class homes and took home less than one million a year. THAT is the type of employer that america needs to get behind. You know what i'd like to see? i'd like to see the government compeltey cut off EVERYTHING for about one 4 year election cycle. Cut taxes by about 90 pecent, and dump EVERYTHING in the laps of the private sector. Roads, education, ALL OF IT. Then tell the republican party, "You think the private sector can do such a great job at everything? PROVE IT". Then all the greedy, hoarding rich in this country wouldn't cough up a dime for anything. And the poor certainly wouldn't be able to afford it. Or they might decide to fix roads in the major cities and let us out here in farm country twist in the wind. But we can also feed ourselves, and they CAN'T. And if we decided to hoard all the land and food for ourselves out here, they'd be in for a RUDE AWAKENING when the grocery store shelves are empty.
  21. Sorry to get in here so late... been busy with my new job. No, she didn't have her face done in the 80's... late 90's was her first foray into the plastic surgery realm. There's just a difference in the hair and makeup, and they way she DID her makeup. The 70's look was just more natural, glam was so TOTALLY out, NOBODY wore heavy, glam makeup. I like either look, to tell you the truth. Brenda has always complained ALOT about how she looked on the show... "They kept wiping my makeup off", "I hated the lighting", They put me in 1$ blouses form K-mart", it was all I could do to keep from saying "Honey, your character was POOR, you weren't gonna get the outfits from Giorgios that the Brooks girls got". But when she was away from the show, she DID look nicer in the 70's: And BTW, Carl... she left second week of July. I just remember it so well because it was the week after I bought my first VCR, I bought it fourth of july weekend 1987.
  22. Oh, parents just get up in arms about most anything. Today it's Glee... when I was a kid, it was Three's company. I think because the characters are high school kids, then the 12-18 crowd WANTS to watch it, and parents somehow think the show is too sexy. I'll bet they let those same kids watch CSI with decapitated, decomposing heads rolling around onscreen, though. That being said... I've tried to watch this show a few times, I tuned in tonight, and I HATE it. I SHOULD like it... but I don't. The music sounds very karaoke-like, the singing is all that typical BS, everyone sings in the same style, all these white kids do runs to try and sound black. And I'm not sure, but I think I was offended by that girl with Down's Syndrome being given dialogue like "Give me my chocolate, or i'm gonna cut you".
