  1. The guy that's in my avatar... just about the cutest thing I ever laid eyes on: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=36ELBHr-No8&feature=related
  2. How about this one!!!
  3. you know, when you get right down to it, if they had dispensed with the clown makeup, it would ahve been not bad .
  4. Alas, I don't think it is, Carl... but your favorite scene of the whole series is there!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s2zMEp1i9wU
  5. Oh, goodness Khan... you might be surprised what people re-enact in the privacy of their homes and telephone conversations, etc.. and yes, sometimes there are costumes involved. I was just thinking about this scene today, this is in my top 3 faves from the entire series:
  6. "you have become a monster" just get me every time... he nailed that accent so perfect! LOL and you know, when you mentioned the Val Actor being Van Hansis.. It DOES look like him, doesn't it?
  7. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0h0i8r-OupU
  8. Lembeck makes his appearance here at 4:32: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIObDCTtwkE&feature=related
  9. Norman Lear at this point was just golden. I'd love to know who the actor was referred to in that article, though! Carl, the cop did have a sweet, quiet sexiness about him, but my favorite was the reporter, played by Michael Lembeck. It's obvious thye based that character on Geraldo Rivera, and Lembeck nailed him really well.
  10. I was hoping that we'd get another DVD set as well. Hopefully it will be on hulu or soemthing. I saw it when it aired the first time, and then again it was repeated late night when I was in high school. Just engrossing, and campy, and everything good. I love the end of that clip, when the cop says "Mrs. Hartman, your grandfather is the Fernwood flasher". He looks like he's about to crack up delivering his lines.. don't know if that was intentional or not.
  11. Seems as if we don't have a thread for this. Starring Louise Lasser, Mary Kay Place, Dodie Goodman, Greg Mullavey, Graham Jarvis, and Debralee Scott. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YTnAfOmvBc0
  12. True, on message boards in general, there are so few posters who have seen the actual material in regards to 70's, and many times even 80's. Fidning someone who acutally was viewer in the 60's is a rare bird indeed. I LOVED Ann Marcus' writing on Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman.... it was stellar. Here is a bit of Ann talking with Louise Lasser at the Paley Center, and another video of her talking about her career. I guess she's still living, she's almost 90! http://www.shemadeit.org/meet/summary.aspx?m=84
  13. Oh, I agree. Julie Harris was just here. And how profound that the final shot after he's dead pans up to the billboard that says "A better tomorrow". Joshua Rush was such an unusual character for a nightime soap, like a twisted version of Ken Olin's character on Falcon Crest. I remembe the episode where Laura got in Joshua's face because of how he was treating Cathy, and he pushed her down. And when he told Val her babies died as a punishment from God... he was sick.
  14. This is another one of my favorites. And look how perfect Lisa Hartman's hair is through ALL of that screaming and rassling!! She must have some hairspray that holds with an iron fist!
  15. Why thank you, and incidentally, ins't Donna Mills' hair in that scene the most perfect thing ever?
  16. This is an old posting Carl, but I had something to add. First, it WAS brilliant that they wrote it as being Sid's choice. The thing is, he wans't going to be in a wheelchair, it was his neck that was broken, he was going to be a quadroplegic, which is a HELL of alot worse. I remember the Doctors saying his chance of coming through the surgery was about 50/50. I would have chosen the same if i were him. If it was a matter of just being not able to WALK... then that's a different matter. I probably would have NOT had the surgery.
  17. the only reason they compare DH to Knots is because thye all are neighbors living on the same street. no other reason, IMO. I'd enjoy DH much more if it didn't have that STOOPID background score. Brothers and Sisters is much more like Knots in reality.
  18. Well, Carl, after 10 years of posting on message boards and interacting with so many viewers... they ARE idiots. About 80 percent of them (Present company excluded, of course) but they shouldn't write to the lowest common deonominator. Sometimes you can write over the viewers' head and they can rise to the occasion. other times you fall flat on your face. It's a gamble, really.
  19. I don't know why Kim would get ribbing for that.... I think it's fabulous. The only reason the backing tracks falls short is the BACKGROUND SINGERS.... it would ahve come off even better if those were done away with. She brigns more emotional depth, IMO. Now... you want COMEDY, any of the scenes where Julie Harris is playing that autoharp... EGADS! And yes, the eppy where Abby doantes the kidney was so compelling, Abby and Karen arguing, and her fianlly telling her.. "I'm doing it for Diana.. and for Sid... NOT FOR YOU". The rich character driven quality is what made this show outlast all the others. producers today should note that... ESPECIALLY those in daytime. But these dorkwads just quip.. "it's a new day, people aren't into that anymore". BULLSHIT.
  20. I LOVED the Ciji/Laura dynamic. And Richard's insecurity, thinking they were becoming Lesbian lovers... and Laura not categorically denying it was so fabulous. Here's the scene from "Celebration" i was talking about. Just AMAZING:
  21. Thanks, Carl.. I couldn't remember exactly when "Night" came along. "Celebration" was also one of my favorites. the final scenes on that is one of the most exquisitely filmed sequences on any night time soap. Jealous Ginger signing (To be honest, I thought Kim Lankford was a better singer than Lisa Hartman) in Ciji's place, and her voice singing while we watch Ciji's body wash up on the beach was beautiful and chilling at the same time. And the fact that Ciji was pregnant gave that whole thing an extra layer. You nailed Richard perfectly, I thought his and Laura's relationship was the most interesting.
  22. AMS, once you get to the final episodes of season 2 and into season 3... that's when it gets really GOOD. Seasons 3,4,5, and 6 are just perfect television in every way. I'd feel like my heart was gonna jump out my chest every week at the end of the episode. Of course, subject matter such as that makes a bigger impact on a 12-16 year old.... but from the perspective of someone who watched the original telecasts from fisrt episode to the last, even when it was "bad", it wans't that bad... except for a couple eppies. In season 1, I think "the Lie" is the best. But the psychological undercurrents in Richard and Laura's relationship is so complex and interesting. The episode "Night" (I think it's in season 4) is AWSEOME in this regard. Connie's much more brilliant than what she's given credit for.
  23. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WHRh_tAl7As
  24. I don't remember it being used very much at all, to tell you the truth. It s a ghastly, schmaltzy, piece of crap... so i'm very glad it didn't get alot of play.
  25. While we're on a roll, here's Liz Foster's theme:
