I'm all for having an open mind and I appreciate people who don't make snap judgments, but I've encountered confirmed contrarians in my personal life and there's nothing more frustrating than someone playing devil's advocate after every.single.sentence. that comes out of your mouth. I was a huge fan of hers too, still am a fan of many of her performances captured on screen, but just like with Rosie O. (hell, even Strasser on her hotline), "getting to know" these celebs "personally" has been detrimental to fandom. And maybe that's really a good thing. The more you know.

I'm sorry, it was Slim-Fast, but she made ribald "bush" (female genitalia)/Bush (Dubya) puns at a Kerry fundraiser and they canned her.

Cosby waxed poetic about Spanish Fly on that late night show (forgetting which one, the clip was posted earlier in this thread). He's admitted to buying quaaludes in prep for sex. He's obviously a fan of pills as sexual accoutrement. I don't see why people can't fathom that he might enjoy implementing them consensually or non-consensually given the circumstance. I worked on a play years ago where drug use was a central element. We had a married couple come in, former addicts who'd done it all, to offer their expertise. They both agreed that if they could still get their hands on 'ludes, they'd probably still be using today. The effects were that powerful, the experience that mind-blowing. One can only imagine what these pills did to the uninitiated who were slipped them in alcohol. Well, actually, one can imagine if we read these many accounts.

That, and the Weight Watchers firing. She alludes to it in that clip, i.e., "an entire party" (Republican) vilifying her (over the obvious and unoriginal Bush/"bush" joke she made). WW was lame to fire her over that, and the sting of it still seems palpable these years later. Today I caught the first few minutes of The Talk. They were discussing the raid on Subway Jared's home and Aisha chimed in about us not knowing all of the facts prompting Sharon O. to shout, "You sound like Whoopi!" Sharon can get on my nerves but I rather enjoyed that.

I really hate it when people minimize death by comparing it to things like this, but to me, this is akin to a death. Just like *that*, it's over, no more... no more chances of reunions, fun interviews, one last shot at sitcoms, films. Not unless it's entirely on his dime, uploaded to his comments blocked YouTube channel or whatever. He'll always have friends, supporters, but Hollywood at large will not make Polanski and Allen-like concessions for him. The sheer number of victims blows that possibility out of the water. I hope he's enjoyed the flowers he's been given thus far, because there won't be (many/any?) more in his lifetime. I do wonder how black media outlets like BET and TV/Radio One, as well as the NAACP (Image) have handled all of this, if there's been a lot of BTS conflict in terms of vocal support vs. condemnation, turning blind eyes...

The "it would embarrass our client" bullshit is what's really driving me up the wall. I mean, really.
  7. Not much to tell, he was a nice guy, a year or two ahead of me, we weren't buds or anything. But I'll never forget the sound of his voice introducing himself to the auditionees: "Hello, my name's ANNdrew RANNells and I'm from OH-maha Nuhh-BRASS-kuh..." That's exactly what I heard in my head when I flipped to the Tony's one year and stared at this familiar face singing, wondering where I knew him from.
  8. Of course Katherine Helmond maintained steady gigs on Who's the Boss? and Coach for several years after Soap, making the occasional film/TV movie. She's great as Goldie Hawn's mother in Overboard. Catherine Damon joined the cast of Webster in its final two seasons and passed away a year later. Robert Mandan, Donnelly Rhodes, Inga Swenson, Dinah Manoff and others I'm forgetting off the top of my head would show up later on Susan Harris' other series.
  9. Small world, I knew Richard once upon a time, never knew that about him! I went to MMC for a year before transferring and worked in the theatre office/auditions (along with Andrew Rannells). Another former soap star who worked in the office before I got there was Irving Allen Lee (EON, RH). Richard probably knew him. I heard some really touching things about IAA, very sad that his life was cut short.
  10. I think it has a lot to do with his hairline and hair color, we're used to the contrast of the dark gray. I went to their website and there's video of the reunion if anyone's interested. I didn't know that Louise Lasser was using a wheelchair IRL. She was in one when she guest-starred on Girls and I assumed it was just s/l dictated.
  11. That warms my heart, and you took the words right out of my mouth re: RM.
  12. I howled when she spat out that spaghetti. Her Melinda was quite like a precursor to nutty Alex Olanov.

Dee Dee had a tough go of it, and I'd be interested in hearing more about her too. More likely, they'd do an Unsung on her aunt, Cissy Houston. Cissy has done so many interviews and a couple of autobios, so I doubt there'd be a lot of new information shared. Unsung episodes seem to barely scratch the surface as is, and with the requisite focus on Whitney and Bobbi Kristina, that hour would go by in a flash.
  15. I hate that I have to wade through a bunch of Duck Dynasty crap whenever I do a Dynasty search. I should do that thing where you can exclude all searches with the word "duck". At any rate, Cecil's video will with the clip of Blake shouting at the camera re: Rhinewood... so bizarre and nonsensical, particularly to our modern knowledge of hidden camera footage.
  16. Geesh Brian, might we want to brush the sleep out of our snaggles before diving into Dixie's mouth like that?
  17. Pop aired "The Will" this morning. Great episodes with fun foreshadowing from Alexis and Fallon about whether or not Alexis would come into a lot of money in a few days, finally "come into her own". Does she, and how!

  19. Linda Bloodworth-Thomason was a fan of that line, she actually recycled it on DW from her earlier series with Dixie and Delta, Filthy Rich.
  20. Peter DeAnda next to Ms. Holly.
  21. My first time watching on WETA in ages, 9-10am on a Saturday morning. The WETA airings have always been behind, and these surely are a few years old as Pauline is still around. These episodes are NYE, Sharon is pregnant and wants to go visit Vicki with Dennis (I gather she thinks she's really pregnant by creepy dude who was just confronted by his daughter's black boyfriend about them trying better to get on). I gues said bf's brother's dog had been terrorizing the Eastend before getting taken out. Why is Phil so moody and upset? Holy [!@#$%^&*], the credits just rolled and unless my Roman numeral game is off, these episodes are from 2005!
  22. I didn't want to sound sour, but I co-sign on the Cornelius winning thing. Seems terribly unfair to all of those out there who have never had a chance, let alone a nice run on an ABC series (daytime, primetime, ANYtime). Did Forbes get his finger reattached? I don't understand... so he makes pretty looking premium firewood... that clients then proceed to burn up?
  23. Oh wow! Damn, I hate that I don't get Retro. How cool to see Susan in color pre-surviving AMC b&w kinescopes,
  24. Naylon probably tore the floor up at discos all over Manhattan in the '80s. He's also in the infamous clip of Jennifer Holliday singing I Want to Be Where You Are on GL. BTW, Eugene is Tom Wright aka James "The Jackhammer" Shakar from Troop Beverly Hills.
