Y&R June 2022 Discussion Thread
I think it's great that this year the Daytime Emmys were on broadcast TV, in person again, and that different people won awards & shows won awards. And, I find it very interesting that soap fans can pivot from being pleased about the awards to being thoughtful about the state of things & even embrace things we live with like mediocrity. Golf clap! Well said.

DAYS: June 2022 Discussion Thread ⌛
Okay, I went to see June 13 DAYS transcript https://www.tvmeg.com/index.php/2022/06/14/days-transcript-monday-june-13-2022/?fbclid=IwAR3Vj3n1weK_Nda8vRs1GYbGUxzDjSOW-LpNGGP_XFR8_rtEy176tg8pXqk Chad comes in from seeing the MINIONS movie with their kids & finds Abby stabbed on the bed. She says a few things. She's alive. She says they had a knife. It's still June 13th when they get to the hospital & Chad's afraid they didn't get her pulse back. It's still June 13th when Kayla comes back in & says they did everything they could but they lost her.

Y&R June 2022 Discussion Thread
Well, the "new production model" of end times GL was an amalgam of several things: CBS dictated that certain things would be done; a severe lack of funds dictated in another way things that would & would not be done; and the boots on the ground invented how they were going to manage this. Then, creatively, they had to figure out how to tell story in this new milieu. I doubt that Y&R today has as much forced on them. But, is there a "yet" hanging in the air?

2022 Daytime Emmys Discussion Thread
Diversity is just one thing. Showing it is always a good thing. Being more inclusive creates a better dramatic product. In truth no one knows what it would take for the remaining 4 broadcast soaps to do to survive. If anyone knew, they would be busy trying to convince someone to try to do it. US daytime soaps were once the most successful thing in broadcasting history. The business is badly broken & there's no clear path to what it needs, which is to reinvent itself once more. Meanwhile as soap fans we are likely to enjoy some of what we see & be frustrated with some of what we miss. And, I'm not saying something madly original. By now it is same old/same old.

ARTICLE: Marci Miller Exiting ‘Days of our Lives’ as Abigail Deveraux DiMera – SPOILERS
An oddity: I googled to find out what day it was that Abby was stabbed & google said June 13. I am prepared for google to be wrong. This article says June 10. But, anyway, I'm excited today because I think we have a clue at last. So, as of today I think we know that Lucas didn't do it. I think he just *remembered* how he hurt his hand! He seemed at least to experience a memory where he woke up & grabbed the dam*ned bottle & threw it & hurt his hand on the bottle while doing that! But, he didn't seem to realize that he'd remembered that! I hope it comes to him tomorrow. I'm tired of watching him anguish so over what might have been. It's bad enough he's planning to lie to Sami forever!

Weirdest thing I ever had to happen was someone who said he had to quit a group we were both in because he couldn't stand that I blame Jill Farren Phelps for Frankie Frame's death.

if it's a literal question, then streaming is not dying; streaming is thriving. And, who knows what will come after it?!

I'm a nut for In Memoriums. I have to see them. I love them. I try not to be a critic for once in my life. I don't think in my whole life I have ever seen one ended with a comic touch. They made an exception to the rule! They let Betty White make us laugh one more time. What a clever idea someone had!

Oh, yeah, HATE the purges! I still miss "Bandstand Mikes" 6-ish years of full episodes of the end of GUIDING LIGHT! Strangely he ended up being a scammer who sold non-existent full drives to unsuspecting fans. I don't know if you're new around here or not, but in case you are, welcome! You're making some people's day! Good for you!

That's just it. The show is owned by half: the Aaron Spelling Corporation & half: NBC. CBS should have nothing to do with it. Next idea?

Why did CBS have them removed?

Actors who have never been nominated for an Emmy
AMC was definitely more interested in getting an Emmy for Lucci than anything else. They mounted a storyline aimed specifically at that & only at that every single year till they finally got her one. Except for that storyline, though, Lucci was just like another member of the gang.

Preemptions due to hearings
And, that is *just* like NBC. NBC was SO bad to AW, not good to BEACH, not good to PSSN & now is seemingly behaving badly to DOOL, they're just the worst!

As a fan of Jennifer, of Missy, and of Cady, I find it great luck to have Cady. She is great at Jennifer!

Yes, money, schedule, respect, I think so, too, but since it came up in the time of the pandemic, I thought it was worth a maybe mention.

As for Abby's gruesome murder supposedly Rafe is completely covered up with the case but we aren't in on any of it.

ALL: They Almost Became
Something happened that made Eileen Davidson not want to do either Ashley Abbott on Y&R or Kristen Blake on DOOL. Something happened that made Kristian Alfonso not want to do Hope.

Does your soap have a "Red Swan", a s/l or phrase or character that makes you groan?
