  1. Yes, I knew that she had the 2 protegès: LB & WW. Thanks for the history/chronological sense.
  2. It just makes no sense that his mgr would have said "manic depressive." Not clinical. Not ever used. Old-timey terminology. Someone said Kelly Monaco had made a tribute. Others say she has made no statement. Not only another sad day, but a strange one, to boot. I trust we will hear reputable sources all agree within a day or two.
  3. Thank you. I wondered if McT played a part in this. And, I can't mention Wisner Washam without tipping my hat to him over "substituting our experienced writing judgment for the opinions of 12 housewives from Nebraska."
  4. Why did she leave? Who was HW in her absence? When was she the consultant to the writing on all the ABC soaps? She had a plan at one point that Wisner Washam would write her way in her absence so she could do other things. Why didn't it work?
  5. Iva running in screaming at the top of her lungs & holding that pitchfork, I swear it has to be one of my top 25 scenes! Of course, on AW, Perry falling on the pitchfork is another I can't get out of my head! GL, I also came to it late but it became my special show & I still miss it so badly.
  6. And that it went with the secret being kept until the reveal 8 years down the road! Just amazing! But, you couldn't tell it today. Here is what I think is a first for daytime.
  7. Michael Fairman's site is back up & it now includes the statement here above about bipolar.
  8. So I got Toups to do me the favor of tweaking this topic title to what I should have named it in the first place. If people want to continue to discuss, we can. I started with Disney because they are the Mouse House & because they have their own streamer & Hulu. So, then 6 or 7 soaps is substantial! Very different but also very interesting is the official YT channel that B&B is doing. I'd love to know more about that situation & their philosophy & what they're after. I know that some people think it would be an enhancement to current soaps to have their vintage episodes on display. Other people think the exact opposite. If people could watch Reilly's DAYS why in hell would they watch Ron's?! Or if people could watch Riche/Labine GH, ... etc. It's an interesting question I think.
  9. Yeah, 13 years. Happy Endiversary to all who celebrate. Watching a YouTube of the last show, thinking about the ones we've lost, Liz Hubbard & Lisa Brown, ... Personally I still think the cancelation was a mistake. And I very much miss the NY soap scene!
  10. Absolutely no idea of the veracity of these sites, as they look sketchy to me, but I will pass along the links. https://geniuscelebs.com/billy-miller-death-cause-obituary-actor-died/?utm_medium=social&utm_source=grow.me&utm_campaign=grow_share_widget&fbclid=IwAR3gklkKb8R1GffSFIE7D0PIy6GGmOmGTMFkOHow1LXxUeJ7QqW2oCtYV9Y They reference information supposedly from his publicist & that he had been diagnosed with a neurological disorder & suffering from it since 2021. Surely someone reputable will talk to his publicist very soon!
  11. This is unverified but a poster on my forum said that her local news reported that he had a massive stroke. I'm sure confirmation of that will show up if it is accurate. I know we all wonder what could have struck him down so cruelly at his age. May light perpetual shine upon him & give him grace. RIP much too young, Billy Miller.
  12. Well, there is one person who is drowning in awards. Agnes Nixon got more acclaim than anyone else! Emmys sure, but much much more! Irna was without.
  13. Oh, btw, never watched it. Also skipped The Sopranos & James Cameron's Titanic.
  14. I was posting my 3 favorite Anne Heche AW videos elsewhere so you get them too! Another World's tribute video montage to Anne Heche, aired June 30, 1991, her second to last day. Lyrics by Leonard Cohen, cover by Jennifer Warnes It was scripted & rehearsed that Anna would slap Anne but not that Anne would slap her back. Anna's reaction is actual shock, outrage, etc.!!
  15. Oh, yeah, Nik is gone but he'll be back. (Adam Huss's husband's name is also Adam & they call them "The Adams".) Blair has one more appearance. The rumor that the show asked Lucci to come on, false, untrue, didn't ask. And whoever said that Tracy should have known the Cramers, I agree. That was a misstep. Oh, yeah, somebody told me we should create a calendar, for charity, Soap Fans Against Drunk Driving, and have it be a Molly of the Month calendar.
  16. Oh, I see about Family. Thanks for the clarification. I've certainly been in conversations about it off & on of course, over many many years. It doesn't seem sad to me. As soon as VCRs came out in the early to mid 80s soap fans began curating soap collections. But just because people did not ever see a value to them long-term does not necessarily mean it must be so. And, for a great many years soaps have used flashbacks & that is a secondary use for clips from a show. I don't point to it as a success per se. I just list it as what it is, an example that happened. But, BET's rebroadcast of Generations is more in line with the streaming philosophy. And, that was the 90s & the 90s were not kind to soaps. Speak for yourself! 🤔🙄😄 Me, I'm old as dirt. But, we are no longer the goose that laid golden eggs, the cash cow that paid for primetime's experimentation. No, we are a niche market. However, there is more interest in serialized storytelling because so much of primetime is now serialized. Still, yes, you are correct that we are a minority, a marginalized group & as Faulkner pointed out & I became very aware of due to the WGA strikers unfamiliar with daytime, many people think soaps went off the air back when the last 4 actually did go off the air. The ATWT Endiversary is tomorrow. GL's is Monday. 13 & 14 yrs ago respectively.
  17. I think the terrible job they do all the time with Ari Zucher on DAYS is worst ever hair.
  18. When I suggested her tenure as a reinvention I was not using it in any negative sense. If she had not done what she did, when she did it, likely the show would have been canned without ever making it to the 6 year mark. When people talk about someone saving a soap, Agnes at AW with the Rachel-Steve-Alice triangle was a soap savior.
  19. Sharon Rose Gabet is on FB. She visits my forum. If anything comes up that she would want to see, I just tag her & she shows up immediately. I am of the impression that she is more active elsewhere, on FB but EON dedicated instead of all soaps. I believe she regularly gets together with fans & they have watch parties & access to special videos. You know she played Brittany on AW & she shot Peter & went on trial for it & it was when they did the gimmick of having the audience be the jury. They didn't have any video to watch. They found her guilty. Well, we came up with a YouTube video that clearly showed self defense & she was so funny because she was so tickled that she was finally vindicated! She had maintained the whole time that it was self defense! This summer Stephen King tweeted how & where could he watch EON. He seemed flabbergasted that he could not. Although we told him about YouTube but he had something more official in mind.
  20. No idea, but that bears looking into! My memories of ATWT at that time are just literally LISA LISA LISA. I do not recall Agnes writing ATWT but she worked for Irna early on where she wrote whatever Irna told her to write that day, you know? Steady as she goes ... Open Schemering. "By the end of its first year, with Phillips and Agnes Nixon writing and Ted Corday handling ... " oh who cares. ".... the show was a certified hit." So year 1 was 1956 & Lisa starts in May of 1960. Talks about Lisa. Nothing on writing till 1970 when Irna left due to illness.
  21. I divided soaps by year & then by success or not: Between 1946 and 1960, DuMont had 3 soaps in 1946, in 1946 & in 1949-50. All would be considered Fails. Same time frame, CBS had 19 soaps. Same time frame NBC had 22 soaps. Out of all of those are 6 successes: in order: SFT/CBS, LOL/CBS, GL/CBS, Secret Storm/CBS, ATWT/CBS and EON/CBS. Note they were all CBS. Their longevity ranges from 20 yrs to 57 yrs. Another grouping from here would be considered marginally successful with longevity ranging from 3.5 yrs to 8.5 yrs. They are Hawkins Falls (NBC), From These Roots (NBC) The Brighter Day (CBS) and Young Dr. Malone (NBC).
  22. Yes, it & KL are both in the works supposedly. And, I would enjoy Sisters again and also a Sela Ward that is Herskovitz/Zwick also, I think, is Once & Again, which I would definitely re-watch. Just checked Family for you on JustWatch.com & it says it is not available for streaming at this time but you can put your name in there to be notified if its status changes! JustWatch is a great website to tuck away in your brain. So, anyway, info on Family must have been a rumor. Great show!
  23. Found out earlier this year that Agnes wrote for The Brighter Day but her scripts never got used because the show was canceled before they got to them. However, in those scripts were the characters & mother/daughter relationship that was Rachel & Ada in AW. So, the first iteration of the troublesome daughter with the put upon mother is "LikeRachel" & "LikeAda" in TBD before 1962. (Then AW, then AMC & then LOV)
