  1. GH has won Best Show so many times that I suggested the awards be renamed the Port Charles Memorial Awards. (Relax, it's a joke.)
  2. Kim Zimmer did a 2 show arc as a reporter on Babylon 5 & a stand-out episode of Designing Women.
  3. Mimi Torchin is a friend & she told me awhile back that she really thinks one of the terrible things that happened to soaps more recently, like in the past 20 years, as opposed to before, think about Goutman at the end of ATWT & Chuck Pratt at the end of AMC, anyway, to get to her point: Execs, both EPs & HWs: hubris & arrogance. And, in Susan Lucci's memoir she really had her eyes opened by Brian Frons & she said to her he is the most dangerous combination: ignorance and arrogance. And, Susan Lucci never said a critical word about ANYONE in 40 years till Frons canceled AMC the same day he did OLTL on a whim.
  4. I KNOW!!! And, for god's sake, temp Joss has been taping now for almost 3 weeks. That article was written either by idiots or smart chimpanzees! I was so glad to be able to blow off steam about it here. But, I hate to think of more impressionable fans reading claptrap like that.
  5. I think the shows still have someone in charge of continuity. Sometimes that is called the Script Editor. Sometimes other titles. Sometimes it is a writer who is called a producer. I know when GL & ATWT were on the air that they had them. At that time, and I believe still now, they take/took pictures of people, costumes, parts of the set so the continuity could be made to match when they shoot out of order. If we believe Susan Lucci's memoir, toward the end when Chuck Pratt, Jr. came in, he told the entire cast 2 things. 1. He did not believe in character-driven story. 2. They were to forget everything they knew about their character's history. Then he told them he was there to shake things up. I recently learned that Kristian Alfonso kept many scripts so she could prove to people things she knew about her character. DAYS Hope.
  6. Her mother was 50. It was at the Emmys Friday night that people saw Eden for the first time since she'd gone out of town about her mother's passing. I just, before right now, saw this article in The Sun & it just burned me up. https://www.the-sun.com/entertainment/9894201/general-hospital-replaces-eden-mccoy-after-daytime-emmys/ WHAT A TWIST! General Hospital replaces Eden McCoy as soap opera makes major change days after actress was at Daytime Emmys with cast Actress Eden McCoy is breaking from General Hospital following her big win GENERAL Hospital executives have recast another role on the long-running soap opera. Actress Courtney Fulk will soon appear on General Hospital following the show's latest cast shakeup.

  8. I've heard of writers who go out of their way to ask actors about their character history. Recently, very, because of discussion of the Daytime Emmys some of us fans were of the opinion that they need to have some kind of fan council to advise them. For example, fans would have had Andrea Evans in the IM segment say 'Tina, OLTL' not 'Rebecca, Passions'. Okay, so it wasn't discussion as much as it was criticism.
  9. I often wish there would be a resurgence of the half hour format as a popular option. I think Claire Labine , Paul Avila Meyer, Agnes Nixon, Susan Flannery & Bill Bell were right that creatively the half hour is perfection, or at least theoretically gives a chance at perfection. Before the expansion also I really enjoyed being able to watch both AW & DAYS & ATWT.
  10. I'm just going to try to respectfully suggest that they went to a helluva lot of effort to get Lesley back onscreen. I would bet that the high-backed chair was by intent, to add more support. If I am right, it would be the difference between her possibly looking too upright compared to her maybe falling over. Now I have found that the support people on staff & crew pay a great deal of attention to detail for the benefit of the actors they serve. Probably that is not true of everyone who works on crew or staff at every show.
  11. She was at AW at the bitter end.
  12. Once a year, every year, I reread The Little Prince and manage to find in it new layers of loveliness and wisdom each time, always seemingly written to allay whatever my greatest struggle at that moment is. It is a special book, yes, but it is not singular in being a testament to something I have long believed: that great children’s books transcend both age and time. They are exquisite distillations of philosophies for living, addressing in the language of children — which is the language of absolute sincerity, so countercultural in our age of cynicism — the deepest, most eternal truths about what it means to live a meaningful, beautiful, inspired, noble life. Although written with children in mind, they speak to the eternal child that each of us lives with and answers to, but often neglects — something Antoine de Saint-Exupéry knew and articulated beautifully in dedicating The Little Prince to the little boy inside his grown-up best friend.
  13. She also played the lead in a Broadway musical, Annie Oakley, and her preparation time for that was easily equal to another full time job.
  14. In addition to winning Outstanding Daytime Drama Series during Friday’s Daytime Emmys telecast, “General Hospital” also took home four acting awards for its stars, including a posthumous win for Sonya Eddy, and the Emmy for Outstanding Directing Team for a Daytime Drama Series. On Saturday afternoon, during the Creative Arts Ceremony, the show’s legendary casting director, Mark Teschner, took home his tenth Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Casting for a Daytime Drama Series. Overall, “General Hospital” won seven Daytime Emmy Awards this year. As for Varni, in addition to overseeing “General Hospital,” he also oversees “The Conners,” “Will Trent,” “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Station 19” for the network. Note: The post ABC Current Series Executive in Charge of ‘General Hospital’ Hopes to “Win Back Our Lapsed” Viewers of Drama Series appeared first on the Soap Opera Network website. Read More After that good start he fumbled by posting a sign that said "Kindness is everything." giving the impression that fans should just sit quietly & be nice.
  15. Nancy Curlee (Locher Rm) said they were suspicious when they were told they were to all 3 be co-headwriters at GL. They thought since "Jimmy" wrote his way & she & Stephen wrote their way that the execs were up to no good, so they decided to beat them at their own game. They talked & made a united front, sorta resolved to decide together how best to do it their own way, a new amalgamation of the 3 of them. From what she said it worked miracles. It was interesting.
  16. I knew he was in a band!!! Neat. Envy! Kidding.
  17. https://soaphub.com/.../days-two-week-breakdown-happy... DAYS Two-Week Breakdown: Happy Holidays And A Worrisome New Year
  18. I thought Disney had content out the wazoo! Do they not? Or is the current thinking just more more more? (With a nod to the Andrea True Connection)
  19. Yeah, I don't know anything either but cancer, sure, why not?!
  20. I watched the last 3 weeks of LOVING in preparation for watching THE CITY. I didn't need to but I didn't know that ahead of time. I found the characters, the setting, the stories, the camerawork interesting, even compelling. Personally I think it could've worked but it needed: (1) To be tucked between AMC & OLTL or later in the day. (2) Sydney Chase for 2 or 3 years. (3) No connection to LOVING or Corinth. (4) Really fantastic promotion. and (5) More love in the afternoon. Oh, and it would have had to have clearances, too. I think it didn't work primarily because of timeslot & clearances. I think the example of what happened to PC's ratings the one time it was after AMC are instructive.
  21. I thought he was very popular. But, there was something ...
  22. Well, mild-mannered Eric also said, "Forgiveness brings peace." So, why be vague? What are you thinking?! My mind raced to narcolepsy.
