I thought it was in the TIME article which is January 1976, BTW. Last week I re-read every word & it isn't. The TIME archive is well organized & very accessible. There are 3 articles. Doug & Julie on DAYS & sex & suffering in the afternoon. An overview of all soaps at that time, 2-3 sentences per show. And, an article in general about daytime. So, I went looking. And the best I could find (you know how I love research) was that it entered mainstream media in the 80s as a result of the popularity of Luke & Laura. The very next sentence talked about Jeff & Penny and Doug & Julie, and their being retroactively thus. I fully realize that many AW fans are sure that it applied to Steve & Alice but I cannot find any documentation of that. All I can find is how famous the triangle was & that in creating it Agnes saved the show. (It's so interesting to me that 2 of Irna's shows were in danger of early cancelation & both of her proteges, each saved one of them. Agnes, AW & Bill, DAYS.) And as to firsts I just repeated what I read which said Doug on DAYS was the first live singing & of course, there's Jo on SFT before that!

Here, I agree with you, point for point. I, too, saw her on Mo's show. It is very unlikely that they would change her status for fear of a lawsuit. However, they have her set with the smallest possible guarantee. And, I have spoken about KS & wardrobe. The thing I can tell you is a kind of rule of thumb. If 99% of a show are coiffed & dressed well & one person is not, guess what, it is something with that person & not with the support teams. In the case of KS, this rule of thumb does pertain. Apparently some of the stuff we see her in so much is her own personal clothes, comforting to her, when she is essentially refusing to wear the stylish clothes they have for her. One day, one single solitary day they got her out of the granny sweater & into a nice blazer & some stylish slacks & she looked fabulous! Unfortunately they cannot make this happen with any consistency.

Jeff & Penny on ATWT and Doug & Julie on DAYS are two couples who are retroactively called "supercouples". The term wasn't coined until the 80s & GH's Luke & Laura craze.

Interesting points! I am loving Kate Mansi but I never had complaints about Lexi although I personally prefer stronger voiced actors. She was sorta wispy.

And, to GL topicality, here's the SOD article where Robt. Calhoun said the strangest thing ... You know Beverlee worked 2-3 days at GH to re-up her union benefits & it was no big deal but she was on the same coast as GH. So it's an example when she was capable of a few days' performing but it was "just across town, not across the country." Also, my point is not in any way to be construed as a defense of Christopher Goutman. It's a coincidence that it gives him credit for doing one thing right. Interesting speculation. Good points. I feel bad for the regular GL traffic. So, for a little cross-soap topicality, how many people realize Michael Zaslow once wrote on the AW writing team? And, of course, AW had Maeve Kincaid first & due to Paul Rauch's dark side, we lost her to GL. But, Vanessa is a wonderful character, so it all worked out.

Oh, I know what you mean. Having a job to go to is in itself sometimes a mental health boost. Good point.

I definitely don't hate Frank, although I think he has things he is good at & things he is not. He has an Emmy winning Casting Director & he should let MT do his own job all of the time. Frank should not give people jobs unless it's crew or staffr, not actors! And it's not that I am unfeeling about KS but I think she needs some tough love with support.

What does this mean? What is "vocal fry"? Otherwise my view of Kate as Kristina couldn't be more different. I'm loving her portrayal & I personally am getting much more out of Kristina than I was with Lexie. I understand her devout fans are not in favor of this recast. And, I’m sorry for them & their feelings. There are plenty of people who are into both Kristina & into #Kraze.

Thanks! Here's Ruby. On Jan. 10 she turned 15. Where has the time gone?!! Ruby used to be in love with Vincent Irizarry. The only time she paid any attention to the television was when he was speaking. So it's good I was an AMC fan!

KS has multiple issues. That is so totally NOT the problem. For example JZ memorial dressed in this nice black dress but when they gave her set call she either panicked or had a panic attack, claimed she couldn't deal with the dress & put on her own comfort clothes, this big black granny sweater & these sorta baggy lumpy black pants. Maura, Genie, Becky, Brooke, most of the cast trusts their support people. If KS would just trust Hair & Wardrobe & actually wear great clothes, it would be a different look entirely.

Kirsten Storms needs to be let go until she can get her ducks in a row but it's not going to happen because they believe she will sue them. ME & RH both suffer/ed from character identity problems. But personally I do not post against ME, although almost his whole family is on my cut list. But I do post #FreeLiz which has started trending. And I post FizFazzled. People don't like the pairing, hate Violet & want Gregory to die already.

Who would've gotten those proceeds? Previously it was said that Spelling had 100% of international distribution. If so, that's your answer. I honestly do think it was the typical bottom line ratings reason but there is an attitude that was in existence & that was that NBC fervently wanted to own everything. And they were possessed at that time of an opinion that James Reilly was about to make everyone of every age who had a TV watch their new show.

I see people say this & I think that the point is being missed. It is entirely irrelevant that there is some theoretical someone who could steer this ship. Is there someone in the known pool of talent who could do it better than Frank? And with only 4 soaps the number of jobs is shrunk & correspondingly the pool of known available talent is also shrunk. But I don't think people get Frank's pedigree & rep as a rainmaker. From a 2014 Michael Logan with Geary, Shriner & Elliot, they are speaking of a time when GH was close to being canceled. Shriner: It's weird how it all changed overnight. Everybody was firing everybody. Brian fired [head writer] Bob Guza. Then [exec producer] Jill Phelps got fired. Then ABC fired Brian. "You're fired!" "No, you're fired!" It was crazy. But, then, out of the ashes came Frank and Ron. And the very strong belief is that they saved the show from cancelation. This is Ariel. She was my best pal for 16 years, a while back. She taught many Westie puppies their manners. If we were in the TV room she'd come & sit on top of the TV with her back to us. But, she was a nut for Lauren Bacall. If she heard her voice she'd fly through the house to get to the sun room & sit & watch the TV as long as she talked. This is a litter of Westie puppies.
