Good lord how the mighty have fallen..wasnt she such a big star that P& G sent a helicopter to get her to work everyday? Oh honey, I hope you saved your money...

P&G sent a helicopter for her, yep. And, they let her work 4 day work weeks, not 5! The mighty have indeed fallen.

Seriously, hope she has beat the demon drink. As for Zimmer, I would have volunteered to be her designated driver, in between bars and stops for burriots and tacos...(You just know Kimmer likes to eat when she has a few..)

    I didn't know that!

Never got the Carl Rachel thing...when I watched in college on and off, he was trying to kill her and her family...too much suspension of belief to think that Rachel would accept him...and yea, I am with the network, the long hair on that old guy....only soap opera watching "fraus" : )  would think that was HOT or exotic. But I can't believe they gave "old" people a love story so there is a plus there.

Yeah, you're with my brother there. Me, I loved Carl & Rachel. The YouTube Cips we put up of Carl & Rachel #1, #2 and #3 are great to me.

If she was, no one knew about it. But, you have to remember that when she had the DUI & terrible accident, it was years after she'd left AW. End of AW, she was at ATWT for 2 days. Then she went directly to GH. Didn't she do Y&R after that? And, then, she had the accident. I think that tracks.

If we go back to OLTL to begin at the beginning I think she was in 5 soaps total.

And now we have to remember that Zimmer had a DUI.

These two are the options? Wheeler or Phelps? Is there a none of the above option?JFP did much more damage to daytime than Wheeler did. She ruined four shows I watched before her tenure (had given up on YR by the time she got her grubby hands on it). I know people get up in arms about the Peapack stuff, but if the story had been there, I think viewers would have gone with it to save their show. I think Goutman was worse than Wheeler (as his tenure went on) but that's hardly praise.

Goutman is a mixed bag because he was good at AW & terrible at ATWT. You'd need a third show tiebreaker. I think it's shameful that people blame Ellen for the things they do. Phelps is much worse. Conboy is much worse. Then you have peeps like Rauch who also were mixed  bags - great some places & rotten to the core elsewhere. And we're not even getting into one of the worst modern aspects & that' s network interference!

    Amen to this as well!

They did considerable work deciding on Ellen. And, I, for one, am glad they did. They had two Directors shadow Goutman for 2 years in preparation. Then, they made a decision.

I loved Ellen Wheeler during her first stint of AW but not so much the second. Though that was probably more the writing where they made Marley crazy.

I'm glad I never watched much of GL during the Peapack debacle. The few times I tried to watch the show I couldn't handle the way they were shooting it. As far as the building houses out in the community thing, I tune in to soaps to watch something dramatic, soapy, and escape...not watch someone pound nails and building a house. I could do that somewhere here in town!

I truly loved watching the show. And, I found the different episodes inspiring.

Perhaps, if I hadn't been worn down by years of awful writing, @BetterForgotten, I would agree with you.  However, by the time Laiman and Passanante came along, I was desperate for anything on AW to hold my interest -- and you know I'd have to BE desperate, too, to even give two shits about something screwy as Lumina!

Oh, @Khan, Lumina was so bad! David Halliday/Jordan Stark with the facial disfiguration, UGH, can we say Phantom of the Opera?!!

And, David/Jordan was after both Rachel & Amanda. Yuck!

And, Cameron, of The Secret Garden with Amanda & Ally, had that soft "barely there" hair & spoke just as softly. Where The Secret Garden was really just a maze of shrubbery.

However, in a way, that neglect worked in AW's favor.  When AW was cancelled, it was in much better shape, overall, than it had been in quite some time.

I thought the end 90s were better than you did. Carl & Rachel's love story & time walking through the Poet's Corner were wonderful, if you ask me. Of course, Matt & Amanda were always against that. In real life, my brother was against it too. Our family grew up with both AW & DOOL.

She was right.  Nobody in that room ever hurt her again, lol!

I don't understand why everyone felt compelled to stay there and listen to her, though.  She wasn't detaining anyone.  Just walk out the [!@#$%^&*] door, people.

It's interesting that with all the characters DAYS has brought back from the dead over the years, Renee DiMera is one who has STAYED dead.

Tell me what the link is for this. I've got some people on Facebook who want to see it.

    I'll laugh with you. LOL

We have to realize, though, that the writing was on the wall. I do respect her for a last ditch effort to try something different to save the show. It was a disaster, but at least they tried.

Yes, the writing was on the wall for both ATWT & GL. Then, of course, across the pathway, the writing was on the wall for AMC & OLTL, too. We have lived through a truly terrible time.

He used a pseudonym for the three novels he successfully published. With fans online, in RATSm, he used another pseudonym. He was a best firend to Anna Stuart (aka Donna Love). He & I were very close.

VanessaReardon, The next time you talk to Marcia McCabe, ask her about knowing this P&G writer, Tom Petitjean. I believe he was a friend of hers & of Chris's.

Was Jenson B a drunk back during her AW days?

Donna - can you PLEASE stick to facts! Goutman & McCabe divorced in 2016 - LONG after ATWT went off the air. Stop spreading misinformation. God you’re annoying!!

If Goutman & McCabe divorced in 2016, I'm fine with that. I still would imagine from everything we've all heard about Chris Goutman from 2004 on that he was living a miserable life. If that's an issue of fact to you, okay. It's not to me.

  13. While I'm talking about Ellen, which I rarely do unless I'm talking to AW fans or people on the GL team, I'll sort of break my habit & post an interesting anecdote: "My agent called me on a Friday at about 6 pm and said 'Now, what soap did you audition for first?' I said, 'RYAN'S HOPE.' And he said, 'Then what?' I said 'SANTA BARBARA.' 'And then what?' 'DAYS OF OUR LIVES.' 'Well, you were just cast on ANOTHER WORLD and you start on Tuesday.' Imagine how fast she had to begin. (She played Marley Love Hudson and Vicky Love Hudson 1984-1986; Marley Love Hudson 1998-present. ALL MY CHILDREN 2 roles Cindy & Karen; BOLD & BEAUTIFUL Sarah, Sheila's friend; AS THE WORLD TURNS Director; GUIDING LIGHT Executive Producer. Marley & Cindy won Emmys.) Wheeler left the role in 1986 and returned in 1988. ... "I felt that total connection to Jensen, the second I was back. I didn't even know her, so that's really weird. We had been parts of the same person. We had helped create the same people. A part of what I did influences how Vicky is today and part of what she did influences how my Marley is today, so it's an odd thing to say, but it gave us a common ground immediately." (Oddly, at the end of ANOTHER WORLD, Ellen played a taller Marley than Jensen played a shorter Vicky. - twins that were different heights.) Ellen Wheeler was once married to Tom Eplin. She has nothing but glowing things to say about him as an acting partner to different actresses - herself, Anne Heche, Jensen Buchanan and Molly Conlon.

  14. You are welcome to JFP if you choose her. I definitely do not choose her. And, I am a huge fan of Ellen Wheeler's. That's not a new thing for me to be saying here. I've said it before. She was a complicated lady but she was on the side of brilliance. And, she was strong. And, she made hard decisions. There's no way that Peapack was worse than killing Mo! Heck, John Conboy was probably one of GL's show killers! And, he wasn't even alone: he had Weston with him. She came up with solutions when they were needed. And, after Conboy spent his own budget & hers, too, leaving her with a deficit, she came up with money, with budgets. And, then, there was the writing: Otalia and Jammy were two of GL's best storylines. The Wednesday shows were so special. Going out into the community & building houses was an amazing that that they did. While I'm at it, did you all know that Beth Chamberlin knew how to use every power tool?!!! The only thing wrong with GL at the end was that they had to scramble so much for budget - which they successfully did - and that they needed to have been free of ConWest period - and that they didn't have enough time. If they had only had the amount of time that ATWT did ... If Jess hadn't had to be away for maternity leave ... GL just had a crunch.
