  1. I don't think that is so. I think in Pennsylvania at that time (and every state except New York, Florida & Hawaii) abortion was not legal. Only some action taken by their legislature could have made it legal. However, I'm not sure if the legislature had not taken up the matter if then it was illegal but it definitely was not legal. And, about Jeff's permission, she had been upfront with him that she was going to do it, right? If so, then she wasn't acting to deceive him. She just took the path of least resistance in the story she told the doctor.
  2. I'm just going to post this. Such a class act.
  3. It seems to me that what the doctor says could have been true many places. Before abortion was codified into law, some doctors privately performed them as medical issues between them & their patients, although they might very well have had standards about husbands & permissions. I don't see anything that makes me think it is NY state's legal abortion with no residency requirement.
  4. Other movies I have seen Barbie - just enjoyable Everything All At Once Everywhere (or whatever it really is) - Loved this & have already re-watched it twice. Jamie Lee Curtis ROKS!!! Rustin This movie is so good. I hope a lot of people see it. This story needed to be told. They did such a good job with it. And, the lead actor who plays Rustin is so charismatic! If you don't know, this is a true story, Bernard Rustin was Martin Luther King's right hand man but there was this one problem. He was gay. Not a movie but a wonderful limited series, FELLOW TRAVELERS. Not a movie but the best new series, HACKS. Who knew it would be Jean Smart who would have the longevity out of DESIGNING WOMEN?!
  5. Helen Wagner played Nancy Hughes for 54 years, from 1956 to 2010. About 19,700 scenes. Suzanne began in 1973 & goes to current, so 55 years, @JAS0N47 Do you have any idea how many scenes SR has been in? Helen Wagner, Nancy Hughes McClosky, ATWT
  6. Because it's PRIDE I rewatched CAROL. Paramount Plus I think. It was just as good on the rewatch as originally watching it. To me NYC in the 40s is a character in the show. Cate Blanchett is so good, but then she always is. Rooney Mara is brilliant opposite her. Sarah Paulson evens things out. And the movie is visually so pleasing. Knowing a very popular commercial author write it, using a pseudonym, under the title THE PRICE OF SALT just enhances the sweet poignant sad tale.
  7. Same. Track20.mp3
  8. Where does it state in this script what the location is of the doctor's office? Pennsylvania? New York state?

  10. Connie Ford in ROME ADVENTURE
  11. Oh, no!!! Totally missed it. I was on a much needed break from the toxic territory. I heard about her Cinderella issue!! (Losing the heel off her shoe.)
  12. I went to the movie theatre for the first time since the pandemic to see the latest installment of the new DUNE movies, DUNE 2. My brother & I went together. I almost fell asleep. Yes, it's true, it's a long movie. I am something of a DUNE fanatic & this held up quite nicely. I watched it again recently when it dropped streaming on max & almost fell asleep again, so I've concluded it's the movie, not me. The FX are excellent & that's one of the things you watch this for. Of course I rewatched its matching DUNE 1. A soap fan friend just posted yesterday about not liking OPPENHEIMER. I was so pleased. This was the first Christopher Nolan movie I ever disliked. I found it to be dreadful boring.
  13. WTG, Paul! https://www.biography.com/actors/maude-abortion-storyline-bea-arthur In November 1972, Norman Lear's sitcom Maude broke new ground. In two episodes titled "Maude's Dilemma," the character of Maude, played by Bea Arthur, learns that she's pregnant at the age of 47. After grappling with her choices, she decides to terminate the pregnancy. These lauded episodes, which forthrightly addressed the subject of abortion, boosted the show's ratings but also resulted in backlash and protest that affected TV for years. "We knew some people would be upset," Lear told Entertainment Weekly in 1993, "but we had no idea of the conflagration that did follow."
  14. We could go further. The Reel Awards!
  15. Liz, agree, Trina, agree, Sprina agree to a point. Loved the fairy tale aspect but disliked what I felt was an imbalance in the writing where Spencer was more important & Trina was made somehow dependent. Anyway, great while we had it. But, long since past it. Someone said that they think GH is unintentionally racist. I honestly think there's something to it. I look at certain things and say, "GEEZE, the optics are horrible." And, I'm ready for Trio. They just better not screw this up! I didn't like it when Anna spent all her time being sad. I'm good with her now that she's doing things again. Jane can do no wrong! Thank God actors find they need health insurance. I gather that is why she initially returned & I will take it & just thank the soap gods she is happy staying on!!! And, BTW, I do not label anyone as a hater based on their relative like or dislike of any character. No, the term is reserved for people doing & saying the most hateful 8 hurtful of things. You wouldn't mistake them for someone decent. I can't speak for anyone else.
  16. Eddie Drueding was delighted to get a missing page the very day he found out it was missing, so, thanks, Andrew!!! He also admired this thread & wondered if we'd take a stab at debunking any on a tentative list of AW Firsts he has devised. Another World - Firsts First soap opera to make the transition to color from black and white. First soap opera to make the transition to videotape from live broadcast. First soap to use the "beauty shot" (end credits featuring actors on set). First soap opera (and tv show?) to tell a story featuring abortion. First soap opera to expand to one hour. First soap opera to incorporate comedy (1978, Vivien Gorrow). First soap opera to expand to 90 minutes. First soap opera to have a daytime-airing spin-off (Somerset). [[ The first television soap opera perhaps, but Guiding Light had a spin-off while it was on radio.]] First soap opera to have a second spin-off (Texas). First soap opera to tell a story featuring AIDS (1987, Dawn Rollo). First soap opera to eliminate the full-screen closing credits crawl in favor of the one-third screen credits/promo combination (1995). I know the following are correct: expand to an hour, expand to 90 min., Pat Randolph's illegal abortion was first on US daytime but I believe MAUDE was first for primetime, Dawn Rollo & AIDS.
  17. No one is advocating for a return for them but then, it's only because she's not on the show!!! There would likely be a group if she were!
  18. There are a great many Jarly fans. However, it's offset by the Carly Haters. So, there's Liaison (Liz/Jason) & JaSam (Sam & Jason) & Jarly & anti-Carly. There are Sam fans who are torn because they really do like Sante. There are Jarly fans who want whatever they can have, however they get it. But, there are Jarly fans who are quite content for them to be best friends. Liz fan are probably the most complex because they desperately want Liz just to have some good story that is her very own although, they all agree they want her freed from Finn. The anti-Carly group is the most simplistic. They bitch about Carly non-stop, insist that she is on every day & intrudes on all stories. They cause Carly to trend constantly. We keep asking them how we can see this alternate feed that is All Carly All the Time!!! To hear them Laura has more power behind the scenes than anyone. They can be quite amusing, although that is not their intent. One of them (fem_magic) announced when she arrived that she's here to make sh*t up & cause trouble.
  19. Have you been on twiX anytime in the past month? This is the worst I've ever seen. Even worse than the wars that caused GL to simply get rid of Danny & Michelle & Robbie for several years. There's just no way that this kind of hatred, bad behavior, mistaking reel and real, etc. is light. I've been online since the late 80s & I have seen some sh*t & this is the real mccoy. I did not realize that people didn't know the Jason related fanbase wars are well underway. Yes, he did remind Sonny that it is the only legit business he has. Trying to get through to him. In terms of what Jason may consider doing after this is over, I have been one who has wondered if he & Spin might create a Security firm together. That is entirely speculation!
  20. Those fanbase wars have been raging ever since Steve Burton appeared. Liz fans are unbelievable. They blame Liz not having story they want her to have on Carly. When it's all about Becky. And, Jason & his office & the coffee, all that is, is him being out in the open, like he was told to do. Literally make a target out of himself, to try to draw Pikeman out. It has absolutely nothing to do with interest on Jason's part.
  21. Well, Beverlee needed to go back to work. I think 2 shows were interested. I'm not sure how she decided to go with Kobe/Long but that is when Alex was created for her.
  22. Me, too. I have referred to your recaps on tumblr over & over!!! Many thanks.
  23. Why is that? I know it's true but I've always wondered why SWs are not in the Writers Room.
