  1. I've been watching these here in Australia. From my outside perspective (and I hope I get all these names right- sorry if I don't), it's Elizabeth Warren, Beto O'Rourke, Cory Booker, Justin Castro, and Amy Klobuchar from yesterday and then Kamala Harris, Kirsten Gillibrand, and Pete Buttigeg who are making the strongest impressions and cases for what they're going for. I think Warren, Castro, and Harris have been the strongest. I also liked the climate change guy from yesterday but he seems like a non-entity and I do like this guy that's all about gun control today even if he seems too eager.

Bernie and Biden seem like they're getting stomped.

Also, my stepmother loved Marianne Williamson and her whole shtick and I can't believe she's running for...anything lol.

This is Frank & Nathan's world. When do they make sense

Yes, and they're transparent as [!@#$%^&*]. If Brenda was on her way back, they'd be dropping hints about about her all over the place and mentioning her. When was the last time they talked about Brenda? Has there been any hint that this person is Brenda's son?

Vanessa Marcil is probably the only person left who could still bring in a large number of viewers with her and you can't tell me that if she was on her way back they wouldn't be promoting the [!@#$%^&*] out of it. It's one thing to have people like Skye, Faison or Holly appear as surprises cause- god love them- they're probably not going to do anything for ratings. Vanessa Marcil can help improve ratings and Frank knows this. He's not stupid.

The only time I think that had even the ghost of a chance is when it was widely disseminated around '14 - that Frank had wanted to try to get Budig in as Robin, citing Kimberly's availability (which was mostly his own choice). But that could well just be hate fanfic, which the absolutely idiotic new claim about Gina Tognoni is. (Angry Y&R fans with no connection to reality who are mad about Phyllis/Billy are suggesting Gina is lobbying to play Robin at GH to be re-paired with Thompson - come the fùck on.)

Thank you. There was a very small window in like 2014 where they maybe could have done it. They obviously didn't so it's a moot point. They wouldn't dare try it now.

As for Dev being Brenda's son, I again ask for anybody offering this theory up to explain to me when, why, and how Brenda's son is now a homeless pickpocket who is evidently scamming Sonny. How is this suppose to play out? How would it be possible? It makes zero sense.

Yes there is some mystery woman apparently returning in July, but come on now. If Brenda was returning, they would have been shouting it from the rooftops and promoting the hell out of it. At *best*, this mystery person is like Skye or Holly. I fully expect the next and last time we see Brenda is when GH is ending so they can send her and Sonny off together.

The above is all true. I think it could easily go the other way though. IMO Hayden is redundant because the show failed to make her rooted last time. The relationship with Liz is nonexistent, so what is her link? Finn - he's nothing. Sarah Horton on DAYS was a cursed role too until they finally cast Linsey Godfrey. I'd be open to casting Dr. Sarah with Gina Tognoni even if she reads slightly old for it. Then it's game on. At that point Hayden becomes even more superfluous.

As for Serena, sadly Carly Schroeder is now off the table as she's gone into the military. But it could be done, they just won't. The Sarah role is much more radioactive because of two very poorly received actors. Serena is just disinterest.

Oh I totally agree. I just feel like people hoping for some great fantasy storyline where Liz, Sarah, and Hayden are all onscreen together are fooling themselves. As long as Hayden is around and onscreen, she's going to be Liz's sole adult family in town, even if they have no relationship. They could have basically told the exact same story with Sarah that they did with Hayden but they didn't because they just don't care.

Like you said, they've heaps of chances to get a solid Sarah and they didn't. They had years to either bring back Carly Schroeder or get a good recast and they didn't do that either. They brought on Hayden and any number of interchangeable 20 somethings instead. At this point, you just have to assume it's disinterest.

As for people who want Dev to be Brenda's son, I just have to ask- why? How on earth would Brenda's son ever become a homeless teen who is a pickpocket? It's as absurd as the rumour that they're going to recast Robin (which will never happen) or the idea that Willow will turn out to be aforementioned Serena. How is exactly is that going to work out when Lucy, Kevin, and Scott have seen and interacted with Willow? They don't know what their kid looks like or where she is? I'm all for history but come on now with some of these ideas and suggestions.

Given that Gh has used former actors in new roles that could happen cause B&B aint calling him back

He was awful as Lucky and GH needs to be losing cast members, not bringing back old ones in new roles.

I do not mind Hayden and her being a Webber but there is also room for Sarah. Just get an actress who can you know act

I don't hate Budig like a lot of people but no, there is not room for both. We never needed Hayden in the first place. She should have just been Sarah from the start.

Vee is right however that Sarah is cursed. She's like Serena; the show has thousands of chances to go there but they haven't (no matter how many times fans try to fancast it into happening). I don't know if it's backstage politics, disinterest, or both but it's, imo, never going to happen. Hayden basically made Sarah redundant.

And no, Dev doesn't need to be Brenda's son nor does he need to be Sonny's son via Angel (really with this?).  History and legacy characters are great and yes, the show could use a few more but we don't need to make every random person connected to history. That's tired.

Dev could be Alec but unless VM returns, whats the point?

    Or he's just Dev.

  6. For some reason, heaps and heaps of old soap photos got dumped on Getty Images (mostly all from NBC and ABC). Im going through downloading all of them now and I'll post them in the threads.

Most New Zealanders likely no nothing about Ilhan Omar, nor do they care, I suspect.  Why does U.S politics affect everything, even who gets to grieve about events on the other side of the world?

The Ilhan Omar story has been in the news here a pretty fair amount. A lot of our right wing/conservative really love Trump and want Trumpism to spread down here so they bring up anything he's involved in or says and use it as an excuse to why he's right and we need to all follow his lead. We have a lot of fringe right wing crazies (like the shooter) and they've gotten very emboldened by Trump and the American Republicans.

  8. I like Rami Malek well enough but Bohemian Rhapsody was offensive rubbish so it winning anything was shameful.

Green Book is also atrocious. Driving Miss Daisy isn't exactly some masterpiece and it's definitely aged but at least it has a very good leading performance from Jessica Tandy and a script based off a Pulitzer Prize winning play. Green Book has....nothing. I like Mahershala Ali but that wasn't his finest hour and Richard E. Grant would have been a great winner. The Favourite, BlacKkKlansman, and especially Roma were robbed. At least it wasn't Bohemian Rhapsody

Olivia Colman winning was the best win in a long time. I think Marina De Tavira gave the best performance in supporting actress but I'm happy for Regina King. Glad Spike Lee finally won.

My husband told me Mike Pence had a Messianic "rabbi" at his event and I didn't believe it at first. I thought it had to be fake.  There is never a bottom.

I'm so glad to see this charade getting push back from everyone basically across the Jewish world. Extremely offensive and such a sham.

I grew up Jewish and while I'm definitely more cultural/holidays only now, I've been really shook up about this the past few days. Like Vee, I'm just glad most of my older relatives who escaped the Holocaust aren't alive to see this.

Are things as bad in South Africa as some in the right wing media keep saying?

Absolutely not. The right wing media and conservative can not be trusted to have a truthful or nuanced view on South Africa so their views on the subject should be ignored. There's a reason it's gaining no traction in any reputable media. DramatistDreamer already beautifully covered the political and economic changes there and what they're going through in that area. The RW trying to compare South Africa to Rhodesia/Zimbabwe or anywhere else is a false equivalency and clearly racially motivated.

I've said it here before, but I lived in South Africa on and off through a lot of my childhood. I'm a South African citizen, my mother and stepmother were both from there, and a lot of my family still lives there. My sister just moved back there. Right wingers have been pushing this myth of "white genocide" ever since apartheid fell. In almost 30 years, I've never known one person who was a victim of this. I know plenty of people who were victims of violence (which of course South Africa has a problem with) but never anything that was "white genocide". Yes, farm attacks are a big issue across South Africa (and a lot of other African countries as well) but they're not just going after white people. They're going after the farm and the land and it just happens that a lot of farms and land are owned by white Afrikaners. They attack farms own by black people on a regular basis as well.

Also to add about why this how thing is mostly motivated by race and hate, my grandparents own a lodge in Kenya. The farms and land in their area get attacked on a fairly regular basis. This never seems to make it onto the right wingers radar since it doesn't fit their "white genocide" myth.

  11. Proving right wingers tend to be hypocrites everywhere, Barnaby Joyce 9the leader of the Nats- the second conservative party here) has been having an extramarital affair with a former staffer and that she is pregnant. He's now left his wife and moved in with his girlfriend. In another added wrinkle in the scandal, they're living in a million dollar townhouse which he was "given  free" by a local business man and that he's declared as a "political gift".

He was, of course, on the leading people during the gay marriage debate that bemoaned the loss of traditional values and that gay marriage would destroy Australia.
