  1. I hope you are doing fine after your first dose jcar03 and I hope you end up being fine after your second shot amybrickwallace.

Unfortunately, I have had some co-workers/know of people who have had severe reactions to their second shot. Both of them had to call out sick due to the side effects. I talked to one today after she came back to work and here is what she told me happened to her.

She said that she started feeling pain in her neck and arm on the evening of the day she got her shot. (Which was a few days ago). She mentioned that the opposite arm from the one that she got her shot in, was pretty sore. (Another co-worker mentioned that happened to them as well.) My co-worker said that she had severe chills where she was freezing all day/night long. She mentioned putting on robe, three blankets, and a heating pad, and still freezing. She also said that the pain she experienced in her neck/arm shot all the way down her body and she had severe body aches. She mentioned she also had a headache and had difficulty sleeping. She said it was the worst pain she's felt.

Another co-worker got her shot on Friday and also called out sick today. When she comes back I will ask her about her side effects as well. And a third-coworker said their son had a really bad reaction to the second dose as well. She mentioned him having many of the same problems my other co-worker did and I think she said it affected his heart rate.

Both of my co-workers who had severe reactions didn't started having them until like a day after they got their shot. So that maybe something people need to look out for after they get their second dose.

I get my second dose on Tuesday. I hope everything goes okay, though these possible side effects do sound pretty concerning.

Looks like I lost my GME gamble (still holding....no point in selling at this price).  Oh well, not a big loss.  LOL

I'm glad you didn't suffer a catastrophic loss due to only having the one share. Unfortunately, some people (maybe a lot) will probably suffer very big losses. IMO, This is just not a stock/business that people really believe in at the end of the day right now, and isn't really going anywhere anytime soon. The Reddit user who helped jumpstart the retail trading of GameStop lost a bunch of money today.

Reddit user who helped inspire GameStop mania says he lost $13 million on Tuesday, but is still holding on (msn.com)

I think that AMC maybe could rebound someday if anyone wants to hold onto those shares while they are relatively cheap. We may end up going back to the movies more frequently again once we get more people vaccinated and can get COVID more under control. AMC was one that some of the stock sites were saying to buy and hold before WSB tried to drive the price up.

Not sure about blackberry though I also remember that being listed on some of the sites as a buy. Maybe things will end up being okay for that as well.

    You're welcome Toups🙂

Here are a couple of biotech stocks you guys can keep your eyes on if you are looking to invest in stocks from that sector. Dynavax (DVAX) is a stock that has been increasing nicely lately. A few days ago it was $6 per share, now it's at $10 per share in the afterhours. I have some shares of this and bought in at around $4. I will buy some more before the price goes up to high. I believe they may be working on a COVID vaccine (I think with another company) as well, so keep your eye on this stock and it's potential to increase. CNN business is predicting a high target of $20 per share over the course of a year, with a median target of $14. I wonder if it may actually go higher than $20 per share. It's possible.

Also, 9 Meters Biopharm (NMTR) is another very cheap biotech penny stock. I own shares of this stock as well. It's currently trading at like $1.49 per share, but is predicted to increase from anywhere to $3 possibly up to like $6 per share within the next year. So, this is another very cheap stock people could buy into and try and get some earnings off of:

Maybe people can make some earnings on them especially if you get in early while they are still relatively cheap.

You found a stock for $9 last March and now it's at $228?  I wish we had this thread back then! LOL  What other investment boards/sites do you go to?   I bought my one GME share at $339. 🤪

I had found out about that stock at marketwatch. I wish those forums were still around over there. I don't think they are. They had some very smart people over there who gave good information about stocks. I was fortunate to find out about Novavax there. That stock has been successful for me though I didn't own a ton of shares. I sold some shares and I was able to move to a better apartment and buy new furniture because of that. I was also able to build up my savings with the shares I have left. And some other people that got in early like I did (or even earlier) and bought a bunch of shares have probably become rich off of that stock, lol. It was even cheaper earlier last year at like 3 or $4 dollars in January. It's been successful because people really believe in their nano flu vaccine they are working on and now the COVID one that has had some good results. This was a legitimately successful penny stock that grew exponentially.

Some of the sites I like are investorplace, which will list good stocks to buy including cheap ones. And sometimes will tell what the upsides for the stocks can be for the year.

I also like to use us news and world report money website and Kiplinger.com There is also a site called pennystocks.com for people who are interested in investing more with pennystocks.

And Yahoo finance and their forums are pretty good. The Yahoo finance forums are places you can after you buy stocks to help track their progress and get insight from users who seem to really understand stocks.

I also like to google stuff like best cheap stocks for 2021 and that will bring up some good links.

Here's one from investorplace that suggests some cheap stocks people can buy with money their stimulus check. Or Tax Refunds too, lol. When I first started investing with Robinhood last March, I took some money from my tax refunds along with money from paychecks to start investing. Taking some money from a refund, if people can spare it is a good way to get started with investing.

8 Cheap Stocks to Buy With Your Next Stimulus Check | InvestorPlace

I already own stock in one of the companies on this list Marathon oil. That stock I think is one people could look at if they want an energy stock. It's cheap at under $8 per share and from what I've seen the upside for it could be as high as $14 this year. And I believe it could end up paying a small dividend like 0.03 per share.

And Ford is another one on this list that I think I will buy some shares in. It's under $11 per share and I keep seeing multiple websites say buy it. (Just like I saw multiple sites suggest buying stuff like Nokia and even Gamestop before the people on reddit artificially drove the price of it up.  Some analysts must have a hunch it will go up at some point. They are producing an electric car and that could eventually help drive up the price of the stock. That's a cheaper one that people could buy and hold.

    Letitia James on the case!

Cool. 🙂  Will definitely do that throughout this thread. One type of stock that I really like to invest in is biotech penny stocks. They can be pretty volatile but if they hit, they can hit big.

I made some money with the penny biotech stock Novavax. This stock is now currently on Robinhood's limited purchases list. People are only allowed to buy one share of it. I started buying shares of this stock in March of last year around $9 per share. I bought some more as the price went up but my average cost is $18.16. I really didn't buy anymore after it hit $25 per share .I watched this stock continue to climb all throughout this past year. Today Novavax is currently $220 (and went as high as $228 today) a share.

I sold some shares last year when I wanted to move and buy new furniture. I sold at like $143 a share and a little lower than that. But I still held onto a few shares and I'm glad I did.

I first found out about this stock I believe on the marketwatch forums (back when they still had them). I saw a couple of people discussing it and it's technology for it's flu vaccine called Nanoflu. The information sounded good to me so I decided to purchase a few shares. And then purchased some more. I never owned a bunch of shares but I had/have enough to make a nice profit. Especially for the amount I paid for it overall.

The company also released their results on their COVID-19 vaccine yesterday and they are pretty positive. They have the best results overall of the vaccines and they have like an 86% success rate with the UK variant. Moderna/Pfizer haven't really released information about what their success rate is for that variant. They also tested the South African Variant, which wasn't as successful, but still more information than Moderna/Pfizer have released about how their vaccines work against the variant.

I am reading up on other biotech stocks to see which other ones may have the ability to be successful and have a good climb from a cheap price. That's another thing I often check for when I buy stocks what is the projected upside for it over a period of time. (Usually at least a year). There are some sites that are good at showing those projections. One of them is CNN's busines site which I like to use for stocks.

I read a story this morning where a young man, I believe he is 22, wanted in on this event and took out a 2nd mortgage on his parents' house to invest $70k.  The price has dropped dramatically so he's now waiting, seeing, hoping and praying.  His parents have no idea he took out a 2nd mortgage (if he's not POA, not sure how this was even possible).

This is a dangerous game to play!

It's dangerous and he is doing all of that he definitely can't afford these high priced Gamestop shares and is wasting money IMO.

Funny thing is, a few months back some investing sites were actually recommending people invest in Gamestop. (They also recommended Nokia and AMC, and I wonder if people saw those lists and that helped in their decisions to specifically target those stocks). They thought it would have a nice turnaround. This was back when the stock was like under $15 a share. I remember thinking about buying some shares back, then but I didn't. I remember the company having some bad press I think due to COVID, (maybe some sort of policy about their stores, I can't remember exactly what.) If I had bought it back then I definitely would have sold almost if not all of it the first day the Gamestop stock started going really crazy, because people were artificially driving up the price. I would have taken that money and ran lol. And I'm sure some people who bought in low did that.

I do think that buying in at these very high prices like over $300 is a mistake. I don't believe what is going on with this stock is sustainable and at least as of right now, I don't really think things are that promising for the company. Some people are definitely going to lose a lot of money doing this.

I can share some tips I've learned/sites to go to. 🙂

  7. This situation is something else. I saw that people have just bought a class action lawsuits against Robinhood.

On one hand I love Robinhood and opened up an account back in March. It was the best financial decision I've ever made. I ended up investing in stocks including a biotech penny stock.that did very well. I was able  to cash some of that stock in and move to a much nicer apartment and build up my savings.

I believe that everyone should be allowed to invest. No matter what their income.isespecially working people. People need more.than one means of.income. Sites like Robinhood are very beneficial and make it affordable for regular people to become investors.

I do think them trying to limit the free market is definitely backfiring. However I do have concerns about people running up these stocks artificially to astronomical amounts. Some of this also can/will backfire for people buying these stocks at like $300 per share. If you got in early/already owned it before it shot up,good for you. I hope you sold at least some of it and made a nice profit. If you bought in very high that is dangerous.

lol. Some people are bit rougher with the shots and it does seem like some people may stab people when they give shots. When I got mine the lady was gentle and it was the same when I got my flu shot back in October. Hopefully people will be gentle most of the time.  I think if someone is a bit leery of shots it helps if they tell that to the person who is adminstering it to them. And hopefully that will cause them to make sure they are more gentle. I'm glad your parents have been vaccinated and I hope they are doing well. My dad has been put on the list to get his shot from the VA and I hope he gets it soon.

I am glad to hear you are feeling fine. I got my first dose of the Pizer vaccine this morning. I work for the federal government/military and deal with a bunch of military service members on a daily basis. I was able to be grouped into the 1b group (non medical essential/frontline group of workers). I feel fine. The shot didn't hurt. Some of my co-workers went and got their shots on Friday and they are feeling fine. Most of them said the worst thing they experienced was a little soreness in their arm, and one said she felt a little fatigued after the second day, but overall they are doing fine. I'm glad I got the shot and my second one is scheduled for February 16th. The military is doing a good job of getting people vaccinated where I live, some people have been already getting their second doses.

They are offering it for free for different groups of people on a walk in basis. People that qualify for this shot should take advantage of getting it while they can. (Barring things like having allergies, being unable to take the shot for some reason).

I'm glad you are feeling well after receiving your first dose; I'm due for my second on February 13th. The only other person in my family who has been vaccinated is my brother-in-law and he's a first responder (EMS/firefighter). I just hope my parents get theirs soon; they want to.

Thank you. 🙂 I hope your parents are able to get it soon. They may be able to. I think that the next group of people that might be able to get it include elderly people that are in their 60's but under 75. I know those people are included in the next group that the military want to vaccinate. My dad technically is in that group, he's in his early 70s. The VA is supposed to give him his, but if not he could get his shot the same place I got mine, though he might have to wait a little longer. Maybe the next group of people in general (including non military people) will feature more elderly people under 75.

I think that if people are able to get this shot, it's a good idea for most of them to get it. I do believe that most people will be fine after getting this vaccination. Sure, there is risk in getting it, and there will be people that could suffer more severe reactions, but overall I think that most people will be okay after they get it. The people with things like allergies shouldn't get it, but I believe that most everybody else will be fine. And I think it will give a lot more people peace of mind, especially those of us who have high risk/high exposure jobs.

My coworkers and I are still clowning about it two and half days later.

Yesterday, I had a family in and the man really wanted to stand there and order without a mask and say how stupid it was. We were shortstaffed due to a co-worker who might have had a corona scare or just over it at this point (my main place is currently being hit by corona economy times, not helped by my boss's general attitude thus the shortstaffness). So just me, my ocd boss, and a newbie who was on his SECOND day. People skills my boss does not have, nor training skills so I knew if I did not keep it together I would have just quit yesterday...long story ;)  But it showed how I've grown in my current position in customer service that I did not snap on this man in front of his family over the fact that IT'S NOT ABOUT YOU. Order the sandwich with MASK ON, keep moving. The fact people cannot seem to get that or worse want to take it out on people when they know this and have known about this since MARCH and have the technology to very quickly look up how to properly wear a mask is maddeningly. And I am the last of my co-workers who has been showing patience over it. And that says something given what has happened to my mother, my brother, and now my sister.

About to lose it. Thankfully, I'm off today. :)

It's unfortunate that there are those of us who have to deal with this. These people that won't wear masks in public places that (especially ones that have signs saying informing them to do so) are so jerky. You can tell a lot of them they don't have a job where they are required to wear a mask. They are probably fortunate enough to work from home, or maybe they aren't working at all. Regardless though they are selfish. All they have to do is wear a mask for a few minutes in a place inside like a store, that's it. Some of us have to wear these things full time at one or multiple jobs, and we still wear them in other public places. And now some states are proposing we wear them even inside of our homes. Even though they can be uncomfortable and cause their own share of problems. The least these people could do is wear one for a few minutes and try and protect other people in public. Especially since we are about to enter flu and cold season.

I have to tell people they need to wear masks too at times. I work for the military and thankfully most people are actually complaint with the mask mandate. Because they know if a higher up catches them without one they could get in trouble. But you still have a few that won't wear one sometimes when they come into my workplace. Also it looks bad when people pretend like they didn't know masks are required at a public place, especially when most other people are wearing one and there are signs saying they need to wear one. And it's extra bad when I see a couple and only one of them is wearing a masks. It's like only one you cares?

I am surprised what is going on in PA hasn't made it into this thread yet as it was announced on Tuesday afternoon. Starting on Friday they want everyone who comes into the state (who isn't a commuter or an essential worker) to have a negative COVID test taken at maximum 72 hours prior to arrival, and if you decide to leave you should take a test before going and don't go if you are positive. The thing is in most of the commonwealth testing is not widespread and only available based on CDC guidelines meaning you have to be already ill, have a close contact who is positive, or work in healthcare.  If you live in PA and leave you are to quarantine for 14 days at home once getting back if you can't get tested and if you don't follow the rules you could be fined. So basically they have cancelled out-of-state travel for the foreseeable future due to lack of available testing, but trucking etc. won't be stopped. Before this was announced you could visit certain states without any testing or quarantine needed, which is what New York and New Jersey are still doing until it changes. There has been no information how PA is handling people coming into airports without a negative COVID test, will they be sent away, fined or will it be ignored and then this order hurt a lot of people's holiday season as they followed the rules with potentially no consequences for those who decided to break the rules.

The other thing that was announced was if you go anywhere outside your home you need to wear a mask even if you go to see a friend or a family member in their home. In public places the mask mandate has been a thing since the Spring though some people do not comply. The new mask rules are what I've seen the most complaints about, not the news that they were shutting down out-of-state travel messing up Thanksgiving plans for many people less than 10 days before the holiday.

I wonder how they are going to try and enforce all of these stricter rules. I don't know that they can. North Carolina has gotten a bit stricter as well. They are now saying people have to wear masks when they are actively exercising in gyms, even in gyms that do well with social distancing and sanitizing. The gym I go to does well with both of those things, and was already requiring people wear masks if they weren't actively exercising (like if they are just walking around the gym). But now we have to wear them even on things like treadmills, even when other machines are blocked off around her providing at least six feet of distance. The governor has also said that people should wear masks inside of their homes more often, limit the number of people at gatherings. It has been suggested that some cities will use city officials to try and enforce these rules. Though, I'm not sure how they are going to go about handling what people do in their actual homes.

I do think that people are going to push back/ignore on a lot of these stricter rules, including the ones trying to control what they do inside of their own homes. Like limiting the amount of people that can gather in a household. Some people have larger families so that can be a problem. And I'm not sure how many people are really going to be wearing masks inside of their homes every time they are with someone from other household or especially a family member from a different household. I don't think that's realistic. Especially for those of us who are already wearing masks a lot of the time anyway. Some of these rules would have us wearing masks almost 100% of the time. And that's not realistic or bearable for a lot of people.

Common sense has gone out the window for a lot of people regarding this issue. I believe that people need to wear masks in public places and avoid really large gatherings/crowds. Especially higher risk people. I discourage my elderly dad all of the time from going into public places and will run errands for him/pick up things for him whenever I can. I also make sure I tell him to wear a mask every time he goes to a public place. And whenever we go any place together, and am in a car together, I will actually wear my mask, just to give him extra protection. Because we can't do six feet of separation in the car. One big reason I do that is because I have a high exposure job and want to be more protective of him.

I think we need to continue to focus largely on making sure people wear masks in public. And also focusing the fact that we are about to enter the flu/cold season and this is a big reason why COVID is spreading very quickly right now. More people are starting to cough/sneeze more spreading it around. I haven't seen that much advice given from people, even some of the medical experts on how people can keep themselves healthier so they are less likely to develop severer symptoms and spread covid even more. And give advice on how people can strengthen their immune system, so that if they do catch COVID, they are more likely to recover from it. I'm seeing/hearing more stories about how people with symptoms are showing up to jobs and giving people COVID and killing them. We need to emphasize more people taking care of themselves as well during this season and also stressing how they do not need to go to work if they are showing symptoms. I think these types of things will go further than trying to police how many people are at someone's thanksgiving dinner. Or demand that people wear masks in their homes as well especially if they can social distance/sanitize their homes. Though, I don't believe that people should have a bunch of people over right now. (Unless it's immediate family and they can find ways to distance). I think that smaller gatherings with loved one and even friends can be okay, just as long as people are smart/safe about it.

That poor child. We really do to do a better job of taking care of each other and ourselves, so that more children and people don't have to go through situations like this.

I haven't really posted much in this thread in a while. I've been busy at work, where there is a lot of exposure and unfortunately some people have come down with severe cases of COVID.  Someone from work missed work for months due to COVID and had a long stay at the hospital. His wife also caught COVID and was hospitalized as well. And he ended up having a heart attack on top of that. We weren't sure if he was ever coming back to work. One day he popped up all of a sudden. One of my co-workers asked him about his experience dealing with COVID and he said it was very painful and he's thankful to be alive.

For the most part people wear masks at work, but there are a few that don't. And we try and get on them about it. We deal with a lot of military personnel and service members, sometimes their families etc... Most of them are pretty good with putting on masks, but you have a few that try not to wear them. But we try and enforce it.

I feel bad for people who work in places like department and grocery stores where there a bunch of people walking around not wearing masks. These people don't really seem to care about the workers well-being. And it's extra concerning considering we're about to deal with cold and flu season. That's one of the biggest reasons why this illness is spreading, because people are coughing/sneezing more and spreading it around.

Now is definitely not the time for people to not wear masks. And there isn't much excuse not to wear one, unless people have a health issues preventing it. (like a few people do). There are more readily available than they were earlier on and people can help others get masks. I usually carry some around in my purse and am willing to give on to anyone that needs it.

I also urge people to really take care of themselves and try and take care of things like your immune system as much as possible. Especially those of us who work outside of the home in high exposure jobs (including a lot of essential ones). Make sure you continue to be sanitary, and do things like wash your hands. But also eat properly and do whatever you can to strengthen your immune system. I drink a lot of immune booster drinks. Sometimes you can buy these at places like Publix and Walmart for cheap or when they are on sale. They have some that are for immunity support and some that have 100% recommendation of Vitamin D and Zinc. Stuff like this can help booster your immune system when you are dealing with a lot of people in public.

And if you haven't gotten your flu shot consider doing that as well. I got mines back in October.

  12. Here in NC our state of Board of Elections Director said that votes here won't be finally tallied up until like either November 12th or 13th. In addition to the presidental race being too close to call here, so is the Senate race between Thom Tillis and Cal Cunningham (which I think that Cal could have won in an easier manner were it not for his cheating scandal.) Right now Thom is slightly ahead of Cal (and he's actually declared victory over him), but there are still 117,000 mail in ballots that need to be counted here:

  13. It's really close here in NC. At one point it looked like both Trump and Biden had almost the exact percentage. I do wonder which one win it. Our Democratic governor Roy Cooper was re-elected tonight. Maybe that will bode well for Biden.

My parents went when the lines weren't long. The first day they went the lines were very long so they went on another day.

I'm glad they didn't have to stand in the line for too long. It can help that early voting goes on for a bit. I believe it went to like October 31st here in NC.

My parents voted early. They usually vote on election day but they were supercharged this year..Lol.

Did they have to wait in a long lines?. One of the reasons that I didn't early vote this year (and my dad didn't either) Is because the early voting place in our town is usually pretty packed. It's more packed than a lot of the polling places here. Including the old polling place, I usually vote at. I live in NC and read there were long lines at lot of early voting places here.

I don't want any parts of a long line lol (if they can be avoided).

Sorry you had such an awful experience @xtr. Thank you for voting.

Thank you. DRW50.🙂   I learned my lesson lol., I'm doing mail in voting in the future at least for the time being. Especially with COVID being a big problem right now. And I'm going to make sure my elderly dad does the same. He voted today do in person and I definitely think it's safer for him if he does mail in ballots as well.  I don't like my new polling place it's the type of place where there really are long lines. A lot of people in that area vote and even if you show up early it's still a long line. The polls at NC were open at 6:30 this morning. I got there a little after 7am and that line was pretty long and kept growing. It wasn't very efficiently run. At times it seemed like they were only letting like one or two people in to vote.

I do understand that part of that  may have been due to trying to socially distance but once people got inside the building it was still dragging. It was a church (and my old voting place is a church too). I wonder if maybe they need a bigger polling place for that area. The new area I live in has more people in it and a lot of them do vote.

It was a lot of republicans there too. The new neighborhood where I live has a lot of republicans in it, they have Trump signs and republican candidate signs all over the place. I've been seeing a lot Trump signs lately and Trump masks including with people who come into work. And some of them seem a bit testy.

I've always liked going into the polling place and voting. I think there is a sense of pride of people exercising their right to vote that way. But now especially after today I think it's safer to do mail in. With COVID and also with rising tensions among people.

I was glad my old place let me vote. I like them much better than the new one. And I also glad I got up early to vote. If I had waited later to vote, I may not have voted today. Because I have to go to work in a little bit and will be working past 8pm, (and the polls will be closed then here).

  17. One thing I've decided today after voting in person is that I will be doing mail in voting for the foreseeable future. I am someone who normally likes to go the polls and vote, but after today, I'm going to do mail in ballots.

It took me two and half hours to vote today, and I had to go to two different polling places. I moved to a new place back in August and I wasn't sure where exactly I needed to vote. I did some research online and saw that if I lived at in my new place for more than 60 days, I would have to vote at the new poll place. And I have received voting information and propoganda in the mail at my new address. I had read I had to vote there and that might have to give me a provisional ballot. I also read something about possibly going to my old polling place and get a "transfer" to take to my new place to vote.

I decided to try and got my new polling place to vote as I figured the lines there would be longer. There is never really a line at my old place. I went to the new place and it was a really long line and I waited in it for almost two hours. It was unpleasant because it was cold and there was a couple behind me (I think they may have been Trump supporters) without a mask on and they were coughing heavily. The line was barely moving and things were not being run that efficiently there. When I got inside I was told by the poll workers that I had to go my old place.

I went to my old place and they told me that the workers at the new polling place should have let me vote there. Thankfully, my old polling place did let me vote and I was finally able to get that out of the way. There was no line there and I was only the 50th person to vote there today.

I didn't like the feel at all of my new polling place and will choose to mail in ballots in the future for at least a while. Especially with COVID going on. I already deal with a lot of exposure at work and don't want to deal with anymore than I have to.

May Kelly rest in peace. I don't think that hardly anyone outside of her family/close friends knew that she was dealing with breast cancer. She seemed like a lovely person, and her and John did have one of the longer marriages in Hollywood. I liked her in the movies I saw her in and she definitely had a warm and familiar presence about her.

My condolences goes out to their family especially John and their children. They have a 20 year old daughter Ella and also a young 9 year old son Benjamin. I hope they will be able to get through this difficult time.

My condolences also goes out to Lisa Marie Presley and her family regarding the death of her son. That is very sad and I believe that she really loves her children. I am sorry that she has to deal with what happened to him.

  19. I wish Henry Joseph Samiri would have been nominated and won the best younger actor award. I really enjoy him as Douglass on B&B and think he is very talented. Especially at his young age. But since he wasn't nominated I do think Olivia Rose Keegan was the best choice of the nominees. I thought she did nice work as Claire this past year when she was losing it over Tripp.

Congrats to Bryton and Jason Thompson. I didn't really like the storyline for Billy but Jason definitely tries and did what he could with it. He has a lovely family.

  20. I saw today that Governor Roy Cooper of my state of NC mandated that masks be worn in public starting Friday at 5pm. A couple of months ago, I got a new job working for the federal government/military. Many of the departments/facilities associated with them are requiring people to wear masks and started doing that before I started working. So I've been wearing a mask for at least 42.5 hours a week for work and more than that (including when I wear it to public places like grocery stores). So in total, I probably a mask like at least 45 hours a week in total.

I've seen a lot of people in support of the masks and several oppose them. Based off of my experience of having to wear masks for a long period of time these past couple of months,  I had wanted to add my perspective about this. I want to highlight what I think the good, the bad and even some of the dangers of wearing masks/face coverings. (Especially for long periods of time).

I'll start with the good. I do believe that masks can go a good way of helping limiting the exposure people have when other people are doing things like coughing/sneezing. I do feel better having a mask on when this is happening at work. And  the new job I have deals with a lot of people (largely military personel). And people do cough/sneeze quite a bit. I tend to notice that even more now during the pandemic. I do think that masks can offer at least some protection to those types of things, to what degree, I'm not sure.

Now here is some of the bad and even dangerous things that can happen regarding masks/facial coverings. (Especially for those of us who have to wear them for extended periods of time).

I have noticed several people coughing/sneezing even more since they have worn masks. There have been people who have been working at my job longer than me , who state that they have been sneezing coughing/quite a bit more since they've had to wear the masks. For some people the masks actually cause them to exhibit even more bodily fluids than they normally would without them. Also, there are people that will actually sneeze/cough through the masks without coughing into their elbows. I believe that masks/facial coverings do give some people an overstated sense of security and they feel free to just sneeze/cough right through them. I've seen several people do this without even attempting to sneeze/cough into their elbow. (which is what I think they should do regardless of whether they are wearing a mask or not. You can still feel/get droplets even with masks.)  Some people also halfway wear them, because many of them are uncomfortable with them. I've seen many people especially lately wear them incorrectly.

They can cause people to have runny noses and sweat more/shedding even more bodily fluids. They can also contribute to bad breath and adult acne. I've been around multiple people who have dealt with these things. They can also make people feel very tired/fatigued.. They can have an negative impact on people's respiratory systems. I'm healthy and I have felt the negative impact on them, because at times they have caused me to feel more tired, and have an impact on the respiratory system.  People who have to wear them for longer periods of time, (like for work) have to learn to breathe in them for longer periods of time, and that can take a toll on people. Some people can't even do this for 30 minutes let alone several hours a week. I have gotten more used to wearing them now, but I can definitely understand people who say they are difficult to breathe in/uncomfortable.

They can also cause people (especially those with health issues/weaker systems to pass out.) An elderly man at work came up to me a few weeks ago, asking for water, saying he couldn't breathe in his mask. By the time, I had reached him with some cold water, he had fell out. But thankfully, he ended up being okay, but there is the danger of this happening for some people who wear masks.

They can help mitigate the spread, but there are downsides to wearing them. I do think if most people just wear them incidentally like going to the grocery store, doing errands they would be okay. But there could be some negative effects for at least some people who have to wear them longer term. I'm interested in seeing how many people obey the governor's orders, especially since it looks like he might fine people for going against them.  I think that a lot more people will be wearing them in places like grocery stores, and I do believe places like stores will enforce his orders.

  21. I really enjoyed today's classic episode. This was the Bold and Beautiful I enjoyed watching when I was younger. I enjoyed seeing Macy/Bobbie Eakes again. I've always loved Macy/Bobbie Eakes. I also enjoyed seeing Sally and Darla. Sally was fun. I think that Jack during his appearance did fit in with Brooke, Eric/Ridge. Also, Hunter Tylo really was a stunning woman. I wish they would show more episodes like this and less from only a few years ago that still focused way too much on characters like Liam.

pretty decent list. Did they not have a regular Christmas show that year in 1998?

I agree this is a decent list of episodes. Especially the 90's ones. I'm going to try and record them next week. Also here is a preview showing highlights from these episodes for next week's theme:

  23. I am definitely sorry for what happened to George Floyd. It was horrible and that office deserved to be arrested and given a very stiff punishment. The other officers involved deserved to be punished as well, (beyond being fired.) I can understand a lot of the pain and anguish people are feeling right now especially in the black community. And I am sorry Soapsuds, that you are dealing with losing him as well, especially since you knew him.

I do think that people during these protests need to be careful. Try not to do anything to get arrested and stay as clear as possible of violence/people causing trouble. Especially people a lot of these outsiders who are at these rallies with ulterior motives and are making things harder on people. (Like it's being rumored that there are some white people at these rallies with these types of motives).

People need to be smart and stay safe, even more so, because we are in the middle of a pandemic. Unfortunately, these riots are getting worse and worse and are becoming increasingly more violent. People have already been beaten, shot at and a couple have even died as a result of these riots. I wish that things could get a bit more under control but we may be a ways off from that, especially if people feel like justice isn't going to be really be served for what happened to George.

Apparently, she voiced her displeasure at the way the protests are being done? She needs to explain rather than trying to evoke her blackness, which, correct me if I'm wrong, may be the first time she's ever done this.  Who is she addressing in her original comments though?

She did voice displeasure about some of the stuff the protesters were doing (like looting). But instead of explaining herself in a more reasonable way, she's been going off and blocking people who are pointing out why the protesters are upset. Camila Banus has gotten really annoying in the past few months. (Maybe she's been like this for a while, I don't know.) But I've noticed she's been acting extra annoying ever since people voiced displeasure over being uncomfortable with Lani having to get on her knees and beg Gabi to save Julie's life. Some black fans and other fans were uncomfortable with that and Camila basically said she didn't care how people felt about that, and that she was an actor and was fine with those scenes. She got even more annoying around the time the whole Days Cast was "let go" from their contracts and people were reporting that the show might be cancelled.

And now she's been annoying with this whole situation involving the protesters being upset about George Floyd's death. I think that one of the reasons she's been acting like this is because she has some black fans, especially black women who love/stan her/empower her to act like this. They do. I remember some of them dismissing other black fans concerns when we were talking being uncomfortable with Lani begging Gabi on her knees and about the writing that Lani received to the writing that Gabi was getting. (IMO, Lani being written to be weak, while it seems like Ron really likes Gabi, has her dominating people, etc...)

  24. I enjoyed today's classic episode. I really have been enjoying these classics lately especially the ones from the 80's/early 90's. My favorite part of the show was actually Dru's conversation with John. It was nice seeing how warm/and supportive he was towards her. I like he was amused by her plan about making up a boyfriend to try and win over Nathan. I really enjoyed the Neil/Dru meeting each other scene as well.

I thought that today's show overall was interesting too including Brock, Gina/Clint, Katharine being worried and Brad/Cassandra.
