  1. I have still no idea whether I hate her (Lisa) or love her. She has no taste or style whatsoever: those horrid floral arrangements, that French chateau style mansion, those hideous clothes... And then the accent! ph34r.gif I usually like British, but this one's annoying. However, she's the sanest of them all and I do love her at times.

    I think I like Adrienne.

I wanted to like Kyle, but her incessant blabber about what she said to Camille and her own "insecurity" is irritating the sh!t out of me.

There is absolutely no chemistry between all of them, Lisa looks like a teacher in the kindergarten who looks after this childish women, yet it's kind of entertaining to watch. There's something that bugs me about Taylor the Melted Face, I guess the way she exploded at that table, Kim is a mess and Camille is fascinating in her bitchy bitchiness.

The title is wrong however, one lives in Malibu, two in Beverly Park, one in Bel Air Crest...

Camille is a disgusting pig who isn't fit to shine Lisa's (Vander)pumps. Camille is a blatant example of Histrionic Personality Disorder. She's textbook.

Kyle is cool but a bit too immature and whiny for my taste. Kim is a mess, so there's no use hating her, that vacant look in her eyes says it all, she's like a scarecrow made of bagged up dead leaves. Taylor is a two face with shoddy fillers and suspect surgery, plus she's a terrible parent.

I like Adrienne, she's really not taking BS from anyone.

I LOOOOOOOOOOVE Lisa. I think she's got great style, the house isn't my taste, but the clothes, the jewels, the accent. Her parenting is superb. Lisa is a winner on so many levels.

The title...I know. Technically, Beverly Park is in Beverly Hills (it has the 90210 zip code, Beverly Hills proper is actually quite small in size, most of Beverly Hills is the Beverly Hills Post Office) and Bel Air Crest, depending on which real estate agent you speak to, is also in Beverly Hills (I happen to think it's West Side LA)...Taylor looks to live in BHPO, ditto Kim. Camille is in Malibu, no doubt about it...but now...with the divorce...I wonder where she and her two silicone floatation devices will wash ashore?

Anyone else notice Nick Stabile (of DAYS, PASSIONS and SB) is Camille's plaything?!

  2. The latest episode of RHOBH was Off. The. Hook.

I love Lisa Vanderpump, she held a memorial for Dr Frank Ryan last week at her restaurant, Villa Blanca...she's also put her house on the market. She and hubby bought it in 2004 for $14 million, it's on the market for $29 million. They're planning on buying a smaller home in Beverly Hills and a beach house in Santa Barbara.

  3. YES! Haha, spot on, although I think you might warm up to Cat later. I hated her so much the first half of the season, and by the reunion, was totally on her side and loved her. I think I just *got* her finally.

The supermarket grape thing had me ROLLING too - so hilarious.

I just love the DC season, maybe because it was my first and I didn't have the crazies of NJ and Atlanta to compare it to.

Cheap - didn't you see a bit of Danielle (NJ) in Camille on that episode. Crazy!

I agree that by the time the show is finished you'll have warmed up to Cat, especially by the time the reunion happens. I actually ended up really liking Cat, second only to Linda who, as WTGH points out, is a cold bitch who owns it and you gotta give a woman props for being authentic. Linda wasn't mean, per say, she was just straight up and honest with people. Cat does much of the same by the end of the show, so hang in there, you'll like her.

Danielle Staub and Camille are cut from the same crazy, trashy, self absorbed cloth. Camille, to quote Caroline Manzo, is garbage.

  4. ETA: I've begun watching DC. Bored already...some of these bitches look middle class, not the elite I was hoping to see.

And the "drama" is kinda lame. Cat trash-talking Tyra Banks to the other ladies? Whatever.

    I do like Lynda.

Stick with DC, if only to watch The Reunion show knowing exactly what went on. The Reunion is absolutely riveting.

  5. ATL: I knew Kim was an LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse, not quite a Registered Nurse [RN], but an educated medical professional nonetheless. She has her degree from the University of Connecticut.). Kim, if you ask me, is a lot sharper than the rest of the pack. She actually has a job that, if Big Poppa and Tardy for the Party ever desert her, could pay the bills. Kim is savvy. Her lunch with NeNe was hilarious. They are never without a drink!

Phaedra is an idiot, going on and on about the due date. Why so evasive girlfriend?!

I really dislike Cynthia's fiance, what an !@#$%^&*]. And newsflash Cynthia, Gregg does not love NeNe, nor does she love him. It's OVER.

Not much story for Sheree this week, though I find her self awareness about needing a man with money refreshing and fun.

Kandi bores me. I hate her mother too.

BH: I just love Lisa, her kids love her, her husband loves her, her houseguest loves her and her dog loves her. What isn't there to love about La Lisa?!

    Camille is an absolute pig.

Taylor is a selfish ego driven whore.

Adrienne is a hot mess with dealing with her kids, hilarious though.

Kim is a hot mess with bad skin.

Kyle is a mean girl and I cannot wait to see her throw down with Camille.

  6. Phaedra is just so bizarre, she's like a caricature, I don't think she's in on the joke: it's all her. Nene, I feel for her, she seems really genuinely hurt and disgusted by Greg. But what the hell is up with Cynthia's geriatric fiancée, what an !@#$%^&*]. Kandi is really boring, Kim is still a lot of fun, Sheree and Dr Love are gross, she can do MUCH better.

  7. ATL: Phaedra's baby shower was INSANE. I absolutely loved Kim's reaction, there's this one moment where she notices the ballerinas behind her and her eyes slightly widen. I have watched that one moment a number of times and each time, I laugh. Phaedra is so over the top and full of herself, but in an amusing way. I loved Nene high off her medications after her nip/tuck, she was hilarious. I'm so glad Lisa Wu Hartwell isn't on the show anymore, such a full of sh*t bitch with nothing to back it up.

BH: I really liked the episode, I didn't find it dull. I think the show is building up slowly. I LOVE Lisa, she can do no wrong, her comment about Taylor's husband had me in stitches. She's also in on the joke about her love of pink (the cotton candy) and how she's too old for going to rap concerts ("the only world I can understand is 'mother------'".

  8. I have been having Real Housewives marathons with my own real housewife!

OC: Can't wait for the upcoming season now that my girl Jeana is back!

NYC: I finally got caught up with the last season, I LOVED it. Such anger from all the women but most especially Alex, so personal between Jill and Bethenny, such drama with Kelly and Jill and Bethenny and Alex and Ramona and LuAnn. The addition of Sonia was fabulous, she's a riot. It's definitely the most 'real' of the shows if that makes sense, these women are never acting, they are straight up.

NJ: Once again, a really entertaining Italian melodrama! I love Caroline Manzo, she's like my own mom. I have to wonder how this show will do without Danielle, but that chick is just way too crazy to deal with. I wish Teresa had beat her ass instead of pushing Andy Cohen and Kim G (what a pot stirrer she was!)...sad to lose Dina, but maybe she'll be back.

DC: In the end, I really liked it. The reunion shows were definitely the best part. I love Cat and Lynda, true bad asses. What I really like about Cat, in contrast to most other housewives, is she talked smack to everyone's faces, not behind their backs. The show should have the Salahi's back simply to expose more of their lies and bullsh*t. It is clear that Michaele and her husband are absolutely deluded liars.

ATL: One of my faves of the bunch, have only seen the first two episodes, Nene and Kim are stars! Don't miss Lisa (full of sh*t) Hartwell at all. Phaedra is terrific. Cynthia doesn't add much (supermodel? really?), Sheree is such a mess (actress? really?) and Kandi continues to be the one with actual talent. So looking forward to the third and fourth episodes and really the whole season, it's looking GREAT.

BH: I love Beverly Hills! Though, as far as I can tell, none of these women live in Beverly Hills (Lisa and Adrienne live in Beverly Park, a guard gated enclave in the Beverly Hills Post Office that's home to MAJOR money, Camille is in my hometown of Malibu, Kim, Kyle and Taylor all probably live in Beverly Hills Post Office or Bel Air)...but I love this show. Lisa is basically the sister Joan and Jackie Collins didn't have (well actually, they do have a half sister, but she's nothing like them!), I just love Lisa. Adore her. This season looks fabulous.

  9. I always liked the episode where Blake had amnesia and Alexis was with him and they were back in their early married years, because I think that's what Alexis would have been if life had been easier for her. She was so content.

I love that episode too! It showed so much about Alexis and really nothing new about Blake. He was who he was. Alexis was who she was because of what life did to her.

  10. I guess with John and Linda it might have been a bit of an ego thing because the show was supposed to be a hit with them. Not with Joan and all the changes involved.

The tricky thing about Dynasty is that while Krystle was approachable and everywoman, and Alexis was a bitch, I always got the feeling that not too far from the surface, Krystle was cold and Alexis was warm. The only time I didn't feel that was with Krystle and Steven #1. I think if they were going to make Steven sexually confused and so on it would have been better to go with Krystle/Steven (again with Al Corley there -- by the time they brought Jack Coleman in the character had changed).

You're right, that's likely what John and Linda thought. Except, boo hoo for them, it was in the ratings toilet when they had the reigns.

That is a brilliant analysis of Krystle and Alexis. I always felt that Krystle was simply out of her league, knew it and was deeply angry and frustrated and ultimately, resentful.

Alexis, on the other hand, was written as such a bitch on first glance, but with her children, grandchildren and lovers, she was so opposite: warm and caring and affectionate. I really recall Alexis' first or second episode where she and Steven talk about how she told him as a child that she had to leave him to find a rainbow to paint...Steven asked her if she ever found that rainbow and Alexis demurred. Joan's best work was Season 2-4. After that, the writing got too broad. But for those 2 years, I really think Joan deserved an Emmy because her work was that of a seriously good actress.

You see, Krystle fought with her fists because she couldn't express herself emotionally, she just erupted. Alexis, on the other hand, always fought with her tongue because she knew exactly how to get under Krystle's skin. Alexis understood and expressed her emotions, Krystle bottled them up.

  11. Bo Hopkins also got an "and starring", but notice Joan never did. I think John and Linda would have had a problem with that.

John and Linda would have FLIPPED THEIR SH*T if Joan had got an "And Starring" credit. Apparently things were tense enough with Joan getting the 'And' credit.

I really admire actors like Emma Samms, Pamela Bellwood, John James, Diahann Carroll, Jack Coleman, Stephanie Beacham, Kate O'Mara and Michael Nader who, though they'll never say Joan was a saint on the set or in real life because clearly she wasn't, defend her and freely admit that she 'made' the show. It shows the lack of ego they have. I have never, ever heard Linda Evans or John Forsythe admit that Joan 'made' the show what it was.

And what's more interesting, Joan's never said she 'made' the show either. She let her work speak for itself.

  12. That does make sense. Was he in every episode of season 2? And I would agree that Farentino was a bigger star than Joan at the time. I loved his clip with the dramatic turn around, jacket over the shoulder. In one of the tabloids years ago there was a great pic of Joan and Farentino's ex, Michele Lee yukking it up at a Dennis Basso show, I wonder if they knew each other pre-Dynasty.

So wait, was James Farentino actually AFTER Joan in the credits at some point?! I thought Joan always had the 'And' credit!

Joan has been friends with Michele Lee since Dynasty...not sure how they hit it off, but they've been very good friends for 30 years.

  13. I have to go with

"Mark Jennings...Krystle...and aaallll the Colby wealth and power. I finally got everything that I've wanted, everything I've been planning for...And it's all ours darling, the whole world is going to be ours!"

First, it kicked off the greatest Dynasty scene ever. Next, she is talking about all the Colby wealth she planned for right in front of Colby himself, and finally, she sounds like a comic book supervillain. Greatest scene ever, it should be studied in universities.

It is a really amazing scene and it would be an interesting thing to study in a media class. The portrayal of a woman in a 1980s melodrama versus what we have today.

  14. I think the only way a remake of 'Dynasty' is if Joan and Heather were both interested in it and both Alexis and Sammy Jo were the matriarchs of feuding families. Linda Evans, frankly, is too ugly to work on television thanks to hack job plastic surgery.

The key is that Joan and Heather would have to be secondary, not primary, characters. Heather would get the 'with' credit and Joan would get the 'and' but they would NOT be the main characters. The problem then is finding actors who could stand toe to toe with them in terms of charisma and star quality, actors who could CARRY this kind of show.

Joan is 77 and Heather is 50 next year, neither of them is going to CARRY a show anymore but both of them are big draws to very loyal audiences. Heather was one of the parts of the rebooted 'Melrose Place' that was, basically, universally liked. Joan is the kind of actress who people 30+ recognize instantly and remember fondly...and let's face it, regardless of what network executives would like everyone to believe, young people don't dislike old people, if anything, Joan Collins is the kind of senior citizen that younger people love because she's glamorous and current, she's a fantasy all grown up.

The other problem is that it would be an inherently expensive show to produce and I don't know if any network would have enough faith in it to see it through what would be a rough first season. Now, if Showtime or HBO wanted to launch this show, it would fly.

I don't think a remake of 'Dallas' would work nearly as well simply because it was such an iconic show that I think captured a really specific time, it said something about greed. 'Dynasty' didn't say much about anything, it was just FUN to watch!

  15. I finally watched Barbara Windsor's last episodes and I was really impressed with them. She did a wonderful job (albiet rather hammy when the Vic was ablaze) with work that was nuanced, sad and effective. The writing definitely did Peggy justice.

I wonder where EE is headed now. It has to be a whole new era.

  16. Is it just me or is DC rather boring?

I like Lynda and the British one (is her name Cat?)...but the rest are just so dull. Michaele reminds me of Morgan Fairchild if she'd never been born with a sense of humor and on speed.

Looking forward to Atlanta, should be terrific.

And lest we forget, Beverly Hills is on its way. That one is going to be stupendous.

  17. I think DaytimeFan's point is that she takes herself too seriously, I think we are all in agreement about the acting, it's just a matter of semantics (forced=OTT=mannered=studied=tries too hard=bad acting  , sorry Raq, you look like a million though :P )

Absolutely. She's a terrible actress, nobody is disputing that!

And you got what I was saying SFK, Raquel takes herself too seriously and it kills her acting.

She DOES look like a million though...interesting that she's alone.

  18. Raquel LOOKED great on CPW (though my mom said she looked like a witch, especially in this opera cloak she wore one ep), the clothes (the hats!) were VERY Alexis. After all, she was in the running to play Alexis pre-Joan Collins. My gripe with her is that she seems incapable of delivering an organic performance. I know I know, this type of soap lends itself to a certain "style", it's rather British actually with an emphasis on the lips, the teeth, the tongue. It's all style, no substance, and for me, Raquel comes across as very studied, TOO studied. She knows exactly how she's going to deliver every line, and she's missing that confident, naturally clever, *wink* to the audience quality Joan had that made Alexis such magic. Raquel's trying too hard to be perfect, to get it "right".

OH that sums it up perfectly. Raquel Welch lacks the ability to create the confident *wink* to the audience that Joan Collins excels at. I think the comic touch Joan has is what sets her apart, she plays her 'bitch' roles with a sense of joie de vivre, coupled with aggression.

Raquel Welch, on the other hand, always comes across as so mannered, so studied and so damn stiff. Raquel Welch ALWAYS plays the part exactly the same. Be it comedy, drama or soap, she IS Raquel Welch. She is so [!@#$%^&*] serious, it drives me crazy. She has absolutely no sense of humor which I think is deadly.

I wish I could like her, but I just NEVER, ever, have.
