The Politics Thread
Is anybody with any ounce of power in DC going to do something about Trump and Barr and this lawsuit? Or are people so deferential of presidential power that they let these crooks ride roughshod over US laws and steal out of the taxpayers' pocket? Both Barr and Trump need to be in jail. Trump, with all his 'billions' cannot afford to pay lawyers for his own lawsuits? Doesn't the orange godfodda have a consigliere? Can Roy Cohn be raised from his grave vampire-styles and take over this lawsuit from Barr? Taxpayer's money!!!! Isn't that a Faux News mantra? The Dems need to beat this drum hard (but they won't). Even most of Trump's core base love their money more than they love him.

Coronavirus/Covid-19 Discussion Thread
I live here too and I feel like it's me and some little old lady on busy streets or buses who are the only ones WEARING THE DAMN MASKS. My GP recently told me he felt a second wave was on its way this autumn and we could have another lockdown. Given that France has about 8,000 cases a day now, I have to imagine we are coming up close behind. Back in mid-March, we were about 10 days behind France's trajectory. Dont get me started on the 'world-beating' testing system sending Londoners to Inverness for a nose swab. The cynical part of me wonders if it has been set up to be purposely the case, so as to under-count totals. (Nevermind that the world already knows the UK is a hot mess when it comes to this pandemic, not to mention Brexit). However, given how naturally incompetent and non-forward-thinking this government of no-talents is, I'm of the mind that the testing system floundered of its own accord. Because nobody could be bothered to investigate first how another country (like, say, South Korea) might be doing it right. And this is why I love Eric Braeden. God bless him for adding that exclamation point! Because every Tweet he makes! Has! An! Exclamation! Point! This story about some 'influencer' showing up in Rwanda and getting quarantined made me feel oddly better. https://dlisted.com/2020/09/08/an-influencer-cried-about-getting-quarantined-in-rwanda-after-testing-positive-for-covid-19/ "TikTok influencer Charly Jordan recently documented an incredibly harrowing experience of testing positive for COVID-19 while vacationing in Rwanda wherein she was forced to spend 4 days in a 3-star hotel room. She was deprived of food (she liked), separated from her fellow TikTokers, and worst of all, she was left with only her own deep thoughts for company. Charly used the time to evaluate her life choices, from the spelling of her name to how her dogged reliance on external validation has contributed to society’s decline into performative living and a general decrease in self-esteem and individualism as well as her own mental health. Haha, got you, this dingus got on Tik Tok and cried a million albino crocodile tears about how unfairly she was treated."

She is a really big name, wow. I'm sort of shocked she is doing Daytime, but hey in these tough times, rent is rent.

K-Pop Appeciation Thread
Hey! I still follow! Thanks for the cookies. I do enjoy Blackpink and their music (although it is increasingly clear that these girls are models hired to sell brands influencer-styles first and foremost. I do appreciate Jennie and Lisa's rapping talents, though). This week I have been all about this song by Super M -- Tiger Inside. Two of my EXO faves are in Super M. That said, I haven't been crazy about their song releases -- until now. I'm linking to the dance practice because I love DPs. The mv is very easy to find though.

Keeping Up With the Kardashians
Yeah, those ratings are terrible and have been for a long time. The show itself has been a snooze for a while, with lots of glam squad filler which I daresay is also bringing down BH. Nevertheless, it was a game changer way back when. Kim was the original Influemcer, but people have been turning against that influencer culture for a while, especially this year. I have no doubt the Kardashians will survive without E! The question is will E! survive without them? Totally agree that the network has no clue what it wants to be. With the exception of like two other shows on the network, the majority of its reality shows have been one-hit failures, cancelled after a poor first season. The cancellation of E! News was a shock because I actually thought that was one of their better products. It was also their anchor show. Feels like a rebranding and pivot is in the works, but im not sure to what.

Shocked and yet not shocked at all. I imagine all their brand promotions are thriving online so that is where they shall be.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Potomac: Props to the editing team for giving T'Challa subtitles. "Trick." 😄 And the HWs on this show are legitimately funny. That pageant with Adjley's torn butthole and Candiace's height as subjects of the Q&A! Personally I thought Ashley should have won! Ashley seems to get pregnant every time Michael has a sex scandal. Diversion tactic! I saw on Twitter someone saying that Jamal Bryant looks like R.Kelly. And now I can't unsee. BH: The news about PK and Dorit listing their Encino spread makes me think a divorce is in the works. Kris Jenner has all the power on Keeping Up with the Kardashians. She is the first listed EP on that show. She would never ~ever~ give up that control over her image to Bravo. LOL @ "You chose Teddi. You keep Teddi." 😄 Words for Kyle to live by.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Totally agree about the straw the stirs the drink! She has become the narrator/Greek chorus of this show in a way. Agreed. Even though Dorinda loves being a RH and the perks it affords her, she also has her own money, her own homes, friends who will stick by her (Trinny, Luke, La Stanbury, the RHOS chick, and whatever I may say about Bethenny and Carole's faults, I think they are supportive of her over and above the show). She is brainy and has many interests. After mourning this loss, she will move onto other things. Indeed, she just announced on Instagram a book deal she has signed with Simon & Schuster. Don't know whether this is a lifestyle book or her life story, but the cover pic looks good.

@DynamiteKiddo Same. I am sad about it. What a way to end. She offered a lot to RHONY. The Berkshires! Not well, bitch! I was also hoping her friendship with Caroline Stanbury of Ladies of London would bring La Stanbury to the show. She hasn't burned every bridge. I think with a little time away and self-reflection, she could be back, if she wants to. By that point, though, I don't think she will want to return.

I think you mean the fabulousness that is ALEX PERRY -- fashion designer, Australia's Next Top Model judge, and Real Housewives host. Here he is threatening to stab himself in the eye with a fork because two women wouldn't stop screeching at each other. I have always enjoyed his bluntness. ETA: Yes, he's wearing sunglasses indoors.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
I enjoy Wendy Williams' show but she is a bad interviewer. And that's with the guests she actually knows. Even with Hot Topics, Wendy needs her producer Norm to fill her in on what's going on. Wendy is self-absorbed and messy and has had a lot of drama in her life. As a result, she would be better suited to being an actual HW herself (she would never, though. She doesn't want to reveal her private life). Kathy Griffin is a good suggestion as I imagine she watches these shows. She would have to be in Interviewer Mode, though, and not in Let's Talk About Me Mode. The one good thing about Andy at these Reunions is that he doesn't make it about him all that often and basically leaves the women to talk. I do agree his bias is so problematic, though -- he gave Kyle total control of the narrative in the Kyle-Garcelle discussion so that she could sing her fave song "You're So F*cking Mean." 😬 I didn't feel it was as terrible as Dorinda has been in the past...? I mean, yes, Dorinda looked awful ranting and raving about somebody who has already left the show. Literally, I thought they were going to walk Tinsley out as a surprise cameo. However, I understand where Dorinda is coming from. Tinsley chose to break her contract and leave. The other RHONY women are there. Dorinda feels she is under threat because of her age, and Tinsley is the demo that Bravo prefers and wishes was back on the show. IMO, Leah more than makes up for Tinsley not being there. She is far more interesting and pro-active, for a start. I know people on this thread love The Tinsler, but for me, it was four seasons of nothingburger SLs (SCOTT). Tinsley does not have enough of a personality to make a truly interesting HW -- that's why they had to bring Dale out. And yet Bravo really want somebody like her to anchor RHONY. Of course Dorinda is jealous. Of course Dorinda is worried about her own job security. She feels resentful that Tinsley (in her eyes) is being rewarded for not showing up and breaching her contract, and all because Tinsley is young and pretty and pliable. It was a sweet finale to RHONY, despite the final 2 mins. I love the friendships between all the women. Sonja asking Leah to be her workout mate was touching, even though it was about promoting this fitness app (!!). Viva La Diva is now locked into my brain. The best disco songs are the ones sung non-ironically, and Luann basically thinks she is Donna Summer/Barbra Streisand about launch into Enough Is Enough. I'm relieved (as I'm sure the rest of the cast was) that the cabaret show was NOT the finale. We've seen it enough. Ramona is such a Trumper. I don't want to give any RH attention to 'the administration' (as DT's gaggle of dangerous and incompetent sycophants are now called). But I sort of wish the Bravo cameras had been there when Ramona and Kimberly Guilfoyle partied in the Hamptons and KG caught the coronavirus.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Watching some of the other RH shows (NY, Potomac), you realise that the problem with RHOBH is that none of these women are friends and therefore no authentic bonds are formed. Consequently, BH devolves into an episode of Survivor, where strategic alliances form to bring down a target. Popularity is king and measured by social media clicks. This works when the show actually IS called Survivor and the rules of the game are clear. However, BH is still fronting like this is an actual friendship group and blah blah friends tell each other da troof. The fact is, even a 20-year so-called friendship (probably more an acquaintanceship) between Rinna and Denise is merely fuel for these popularity games where Rinna wants to dent Denise's popularity with the audience. None of these women like or trust each other and I doubt they are in contact during the off-season (except for Kyle and BAT bc Kyle needs a sycophant).

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
This reunion was depressing because The Coven brought their A game. I don't blame Garcelle and Denise -- they were unprepared for what was about to hit them. The Coven are PISSED about those two. Kyle f*cking sat on that donation tidbit for HOW MANY MONTHS?? To make it look like Garcelle stiffs charities? I am stunned by Kyle's egregious abuse of her fundraiser position at LA Children's Hospital. She used their confidential information in a public forum. Did Kyle tell Children's Hospital not to contact Garcelle so that she could drop this bomb at the reunion? What on earth will other donors think about this public outing? Just so embarrassing -- for Kyle. I don't mind Erika coming in hot, but doubling down on that nauseating comment about Denise's kids participating in threesomes? Why does this 47-year old insist she knows the secret life of teenagers and assume they are all hyper-sexualised objects? Honestly, T'Challa did more for the Real Housewives franchise in 1 episode than Erika has done in 3 seasons -- #FACT. BAT laughing like a brain-dead idiot at everything Erika, Kyle and Rinna burped up. She is a complete irrelevance to the point where Andy asked Sutton, instead of My Little Pony, how she felt about BAT being called boring. Dorit has understood for months what Bravo and The Coven have failed to comprehend -- people are watching for The Coven's downfall. They want to see karmic justice. Dorit has positioned herself alongside Garcelle and Denise in the hopes of seeing off The Coven. It's smart, but it's also cynical. Garcelle is on a whole other level compared with the others in terms of her intelligence, her deep well of experience and understanding, and even her empathy regarding the other women engaging with her. And it'll be the only job she has, if QVC decide to clean house. She has become a superficial, soulless monster. Just horrific.

Oh man. This could be a good season... or this could be a mess. The new HW seems like a good fit for RHOC. And I guess we finally see Matt.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Yeah, I liked D'Andra's gothic look too. But Leeanne was the Queen of Gothic. S3 she was going full Elvira! And now you have added another dimension to D'Andra's physical transformation: not only is Mama Dee trying to create a replicant of her younger self (via D'Andra's recent surgeries), but D'Andra also wants to become Leeanne. TWISTED! In anticipation of tonight's BH reunion:

Thanks for the info! I can already anticipate Brandi's non-apology from here ("I'm sorry if I offended anyone, I didn't realize it was offensive, I'm working on understanding better, blah blah"). But since there is an Asian HW in the mix (yay!), I wonder if she will address the video. I enjoy RHOD's focus on Dallas society with these 'important' families, bucolic suburban houses and themed events. Last season was so toxic and ended badly for Leeanne, but I am now looking forward to this season. RHOD does provide some humor (Kameron) and outright soap opera. I am also hoping for a little karma coming Brandi, Kary and D'Andra's way, BH-styles --though I guess D'Andra's karmic punishment is pretty much Mama Dee's entire existence..

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Honest to God, I barely recognized Stephanie (who needs to stop with the botox -- she's already pretty as is). Speaking of unrecognizable, I thought D'Andra was the new girl! BTW I really hated that Bravo chose D'Andra as the face of RHOD in that Salt Lake promo. It should have been Stephanie. All I will say about Brandi is that this isn't her best angle. Taoboi, you know Bravo won't spend money on their poorest-performing franchise! They are going to keep the existing shots of Stephanie, Kameron, as well as Hypocrite, Shrieky and Mama Dee's Replicant. And by the power of Photoshop, stick in Cary's S3 shot, and shots of the new girls. Voila! I have heard zero gossip about RHOD this season. I don't think Leeanne has been asked back to help out.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Potomac gave us so much content this episode. I had to watch T'Challa attack Wendy's hair 3 times because it was so good! The editors rightly gave us no warning and it was so superb. I think Robyn hit the floor at one point! Also loved how Ashley stood up for herself to Wendy's questions without breaking a sweat. And the Q&A session at dinner! They covered EVERYTHING! Potomac gives us everything! Monique telling T'Challa off in the bathroom was one of those moments I live for, and the name T'Challa and its significance wasnt lost on me given Chadwick Boseman's passing. I love that this is the name Monique gave him. This show rocks.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Your latter paragraph: I wonder about that too. Taylor did not want the info that Russell was hitting her out there (although in S1 it was hinted at, especially in the episode where she spoke on behalf of a domestic abuse charity). I felt like another part of her actually hoped it would get out, maybe as a way of protecting her from his abuse if the cameras were always scrutinising their married life. Taylor's life was on display throughout S2, but instead of supporting her, production barred her from the cast trip to Hawaii, barred her from Pandora's wedding, and in S3 basically made her a FOH, barring her from the Paris cast trip. Because she wasn't rolling in wealth (especially after Russell killed himself), Bravo kind of looked down on her. And IMO what made BH work in the early days wasn't just the fancy houses and private jets, it was the mix of the Wealthy and the Wannabes (the latter group included Taylor, Dana, Brandi, Cedric and Kim in a way, who had clearly lost much of her money and clout). One might argue that, at the time, Kyle was a Wannabe masquerading as a Wealthy, although she had the Hilton connection. Fake it til you make it! I loved that whole dynamic which, yes, created a lot of tension, but also the Wealthies needed the Wannabes, for excitement, laughs, drama and to stir the pot. It was very true to life in a place like Hollywood where people are always social climbing and kissing ass and there is a friendship eco-system built around power players. BH lost something by getting rid of Taylor. The social climber scrambling to regain her old life. Those people are always more interesting than the Adrienne Maloofs I never liked the way Yolanda turned up her nose at Taylor either. The standout scene of S3 was Taylor hanging out with a drunken Dana whose fiancé had just left her, and Dana telling her "These women can't love you because they love themselves too much." Agreed about Porsha. Yeah, I'm not crazy about the current BH cast but I'm not about to Tweet Kyle, Rinna and Teddi hateful things. Their reply threads are nuts. Brandi's is also insane. I could never face a torrent of personal opinions like that on a daily basis.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
I am shocked they cut those bits out of 2 scenes. These cuts were like 1 min each? They could have cut Kyle and Dorit on the scooters (which went on for 10 mins) or Teddi showing off her baby room to leave this relevant stuff in. That other filler could have gone into the lost scenes episode. Social media has become such a breeding ground for hatefulness. It's just a RH show and yet the violence of the language is out of control. And i know I have expressed some opinions on here but... It's a Pandora's box the world has opened without realising that we can never put the hateful stuff back in.

Married to Medicine
I thought I was the only one who loved smoky-voiced, manipulative, mysterious, Traci-Lords lookalike, Kari! I assumed she was not hired back because she went up against Mariah (a rivalry for the ages) and because they wanted the show strictly African-American. Next thing we know, Quad, who barely registered all S1, couldn't stop yapping and taking herself super-seriously during S1 reunion, and going into S2, suddenly Quad was this wounded bird/femme fatale playing victim to something Mariah supposedly did to her but which was never fully specified. A part of me wondered whether Quad had snatched a SL originally intended for Kari. Anyway, as it turned out, Kari and Mariah eventually made up IRL and Kari and Toya remain pretty close. I would love her back! Also happy about Lisa Nicole being back. I'm not sure i love Lisa Nicole, but she is a deluded drama queen and great for the show. I think M2M kind of lost something when she left. I also hated that Heavenly ran her off the show, with the full support of Jackie and Simone. I guess she is no longer with that cheating scoundrel Dr. Darren, huh.

Chadwick Boseman dies at 43 of colon cancer
Absolutely shocked and evastated. What an exceptional actor (with more roles left in him) -- but more than that, what an exceptional human. These Tweets are beautiful and moving because he meant SO much to people and they testify to his kindness, intelligence, hard work and huge heart.
