Haha true - wasn't that the scene where she was convulsing on the bed like a mad woman?  Anyone have that screencap/gif?

Season 4 of NYC was still riding the fumes of an amazing Season 3 - there were some great moments, but it eventually came off the tracks and crashed and burned by reunion.  I haven't seen that reunion since it aired years ago, but I just remember how MEAN it was (and not a fun mean, but in a frustrating way).  I just remember hating Kelly during that reunion more than anything or anyone else.  I still "hate" her today and have no desire to see her on my screen after that reunion and the way she treated Alex, especially.

    Ask, and ye shall receive.

Season 4 reunion was like watching a viper's nest attack a baby chick (Alex). It was horrible. Kelly was truly terrible, and like you, I was DONE with her by reunion's end. She said some nasty things about Sonja but refused to accept that she was mean for doing so. After all, she was voted one of Cosmopolitain's 10 Nicest Celebrities! Sonja's retort " 'I'm nice! I'm nice!' ...Say it a few more times, you might actually believe it!" was amazing because it really exposed Kelly's attachment to empty accolades in lieu of authentic kindness and empathy. Kelly was devoid of empathy for others. She was a hollow person.

    What a GREAT screencap, LMAO

Can't wait to catch these on DVR tonight :)

Cindy was a humorless turd, but it's interesting to see she's still friends with Jill (and her circle of friends) to this day. I wonder if she's still doing her bedazzled va-jay-jay biz for single fortysomething women who need to impress their bedroom toys.

That screencap is everything lol

Cindy is also friends with Jules Wainstein, according to this recent-ish article: http://www.bravotv.com/the-daily-dish/cindy-barshop-real-housewives-of-new-york-city-where-is-she-now. And she still hates Sonja with the fire of a thousand suns.

And yes she's still in the vajazzle business, or as she now calls it, 'Medi-spas.' Her spas are now doing 'natural' vaginal rejuvenation and, apparently, that's v empowering to women.

Here is the thing... in order to have Gretchen and/or Alexis and Jim back... you had to get rid of Tamra since it would have been a hamster wheel because there was still unresolved issues between Gretchen/Alexis.. and Gretchen/Tamra (although I hope Tamra saying she wouldn't talk  to her if she saw in person would hold out).

I'm anxious to see what season 13 will hold since there is a rumor one of the housewives has been downgraded thus the delay in releasing the trailer.

While season 3 was the gold standard for RHONY... I think season 4 was the gold standard for RHOC (a great mix of the original format, fun events, and some drama thrown in)... and Tamra learned her lesson from season 4 and since than will bring in all discussions done off camera onto the show.  I recall Tamra was acting all mean in her talking heads to Gretchen and people were confused since it appeared during the filmed scenes they got along (for the most part other than naked wasted)... and as it turns out, some of what Tamra said about Gretchen was true (I always got a All about Eve vibe from Gretchen where she wanted to be like Tamra, etc).

I think the downgraded housewife on OC is one of the newbies -- not the core 4 of Vicki, Tamra, Shannon and Kelly.

Was S4 OC Naked Wasted? Because that was... incredible. Tamra revolutionised the RH franchise. She made it Survivor, with the alliances and 'the enemy of my enemy is my friend' and striving to win at all costs. I also think Tamra was like Shannon in that she showed us all aspects of her life -- even the ugly and painful (like the Simon stuff).

Gretchen was definitely Single White Femaling Tamra to a degree. She had watched the show, had taken notes, and Tamra was her fave, apparently. The one she related to, whose style she related to, the one she kind of wanted to be.

^Jill’s acting in the “We can NEVER be friends!” scene was so cringe-inducing.

One of the reasons she got tossed from the show. Nobody bought her fake-crying 'I'm the victim' stuff now that we knew how she operated behind the scenes.

Was season 4 the toxic season that turned people off of the show?

Like Faulkner said, the series post-Morocco along with the reunion really amped up the toxicity. Jill, Kelly, Luann and Cindy were invested in attacking Ramona, Sonja and Alex and getting them off the show. Alex was considered 'the weak link' and they attacked her mercilessly and stopped filming with her. It took the toxicity of S3 to another level, and resulted in mass firings which have not really been seen on any RH show since (with the possible exception of OC).

LOL and Cindy was so miserable and mean. For a while she was considered the worst HW in the franchise. I assume Kim Z 2.0 has scooped that accolade now.

I think the lesson to learn here is once a housewife officially jumps off the reality show bandwagon, their life improves (moreso than not).

Jo on RHOC is happy in a job and great relationship

Alex from RHONY is happy in Australia with Simon and the kids

These two have officially broken away from the reality tv trap... perhaps others should follow suit (god knows Gretchen from RHOC needs to break away from reality tv and Slade.. her life would improve 100 percent I bet).

Interesting the contrast between Jo/Alex & Simon and Gretchen. Jo was a literal child back in ye olde days of Bravo who didn't really know herself. When she broke up with Slade, it was her independence declaration. She had discovered what SHE wanted out of life -- and it wasn't him (as opposed to going along with what Slade wanted simply because she had no direction).

SiLex, meanwhile, were older, wiser, and suffered through the 2008 recession. When Bravo pink-slipped them, it was small revenge to know that Jill  (who had made it her mission to try and ruin both their careers/get them fired from RHONY) was also kicked off the show. SiLex strike me as a solid couple with the same goal in life: to be happy. The decision to start over in Australia was a definitive closing-the-chapter on their Bravo life. If the fame game no longer wanted them, they had confidence in their combined abilities to start afresh.

Gretchen has moxie. But she's that girl who always has to have a boyfriend, the idea of being single is unbearable. As a result, unlike Jo, she cannot conceive of a new life without a guy. And unlike SiLex, she won't turn her back on her dreams of stardom. She is literally a mega star in her own mind. Hanging around the periphery of RHOC, there is always a chance the show might bring her back. Certainly, the last few seasons, Vicki advocated for Gretchen to return. After the awfulness of last season, I wanted Gretchen and, yes, even Alexis & Jim Bellino back too, lol.

And that above gif of Luann makes me very glad that karma punishes those that are ill bred like Luann.  Karma is a *itch

I think she's been punished a lot by karma the past couple of years. Some of it she has brought on herself, of course, but pretty much most of it she has straight-up owned. When oh when will Bethenny and Carole get their doses of karma??   Moreover, I don't think you necessarily have to like Luann to appreciate what she brings to RHONY. That line to Alex was bitchy but perfectly delivered and totally unexpected.

S1 RHONY is showing where I am (praying seasons 2, 3 and 4 follow!), and Alex & Simon brought so much to this franchise. The pretentious wannabes who became lovable-but-hapless voices of reason! Bethenny, Jill, Luann, Ramona and Alex were a perfectly complementary/antagonistic cast (Kelly, too, I guess). I hated that Alex got fired alongside Jill, Kelly and Cindy Miseryguts. She was poorly treated by Jill and her rottweilers, and I think she should have been rewarded with an invite to S5. In the long-run, though, it seems that when one door closes, another opens, and SiLex really embraced the opportunity to start again in Australia, go back to university, etc. Kudos to them!

And we thank you for it :)

What's crazy is that when I came aboard the Housewives train in early 2011, NYC was already debuting season 4 and my future hubby had to fill me in on the great "Bethenny Frankel" of which I knew nothing about, way back when. I had so much fun catching up on their first three years and love when they rerun them.

That season provided some amazing "gif worthy" moments too, LOL

I came into RHONY in S4 and so had to work my way back through S1-3 to appreciate OriginalBethenny. I still have a love for S4, though -- Ramona was everything!

But you guys are right, S3 was the best season of any RH franchise ever, I get goosebumps even on the re-watch. And Jill Zarin is still the most hated HW. I want her to return to RHONY S11 and take Tinsley Boretimer's place, but all this S3 talk has reminded me how venomous, envious and toxic she was. She tried to ruin everybody's life, and was a true narcissist. I may want her back -- but even now a part of me is not sure that would be a good idea!

My favorite part of RHONY season 3 is when Kelly makes her dramatic exit on the yacht and can’t get through the door. It was so awkward and hilarious and I still crack up thinking about it!

    lol MY FAVE PART ALSO!

Kelly: Have a good time, you guys. I'll be in my la la land with cartwheels and nice people being genuine and kind, and you guys can enjoy all your banter and all your, like, vile behavior. Enjoy that!

Kelly(attempts to exit dramatically through sliding door).

Kelly: (tries and fails to prise open sliding door)

    Everybody:huh:

Ramona (angelic): We'll see you in a little bit, sweetheart. 😇 😇

I hope you are right! Maybe the sonogram on Instagram is Kenya's way of reminding Bravo that she's the only one with buzz around her at the moment.

Eva tried to deliver last season but it was so obvious how desperate she, Marlo and Shamea were to be relevant. All three came across as scripted and contrived.

Now I’m in season three of RHONY and this is peak housewives. This is their best season easily and when everybody came into their own. Luann stopped the Countess pretense and became the Countless we know today. Ramona became renewed and started owning her kookiness which made her more light hearted. Alex finally became friends with some of the women and Jill finally let go and allowed fame to consume herself.

At Scary Island we know Kelly is nuts. It’s shameful Bravo brought her back for another season after two seasons clearly hooked on drugs. Kelly aside, my favorite moment this entire season was Jill surprising them on vacation. That is the greatest thing I’ve ever seen! That was the most awkward scene until Luann’s arrest! Alex of all people being the one to dismiss Jill was iconic! Jill looked like she wanted to FCUK Alex up after Bobby got that plane! I am dying watching this lmao!

Why are none of the other housewives as iconic as New York?! I’m sorry but RHOA doesn’t rewatch nearly as well as this.

Was it in s3 when Ramona got massively irritated with Luann and started imitating her " 'And can you? Oh, will you? And won't you?' I wanted to VOMIT!" Pure, perfect Ramona.

Re: I wouldn't put drugs past Kelly, being she was a hyper mess at the best of times. However, with Scary Island, this felt like a mental break. It was like Kelly was secretly bipolar and had left her medication at home, and neither we (nor the HWs) knew she had it until the moment she called Bethenny Al Sharpton and accused Bethenny of trying to kill her in her dreams.

Jill arriving -- and leaving -- the island was an incredible moment: "Hiiiiiiiiiiii gaaaaaallllllss"

    Sonja:

    Ramona: :o

    Bethenny:

    Alex:

NYC Season 3 is still the Housewives gold standard for me. Granted, I haven’t watched some of the newer franchises (like Potomac or Dallas), but that was nearly a perfect season, including the reunion episodes. Iconic from start to finish.

It was. Not one single dud episode! So much happened, and that season changed EVERYTHING.

  10. @Cheap21 Candiace should have taken the high road with that fan (or Gizelle in disguise, or whoever that was). The last comment reflects badly on her.

Btw, I am over the bridezilla talk. Candiace was particularly Mommy's Little Princess this episode. Watching somebody plan their wedding brunch is just not interesting to me.

Robyn planning a 'women's empowerment event' one episode after going after Monique? Glad some of the women chose not to attend that Ponzi scheme. Like Cheap, I hate when HWs do empowerment events while attacking their own friends/co-workers. They'd be better off supporting domestic violence charities. This 'seminar' is going to be useless management-speak and vague psycho-babble.

Monique spilling the TEA on Sherman!! The police caught him trawling for some strange when he was his first wife? Hmmmm, and why is he ghosting Gizelle, a woman he has dated for 1.5 years (according to her)? Business affairs not on the up and up? I wonder if Gizelle got wind of this convo between Charrisse, Monique and Ashley, and hastily extricated herself from her one tru wuv.

Michael + Ashley + the pre-nup. Ashley looked like she was trying to pull a fast one with the cameras there. Both really should have had their lawyers present. This 'marriage' is looking like one big final payout negotiation. IA with @DaytimeFan that Michael is sharp and shrewd, and I respect that about him.

Eva has Kim Fields part deux written all over her. And if she is supposed to be used as the answer to replacing Kenya, I give them 2 weeks into filming s11 until they are pleading Kenya to come back. Honestly, I am not concerned for Kenya at all. Bravo would be stupid to pull the plug on her at this point--when Kenya is constantly buzzing post-season unlike all her other cast mates.

THIS! She is a complete dullard. We already have Cynthia bringing the pretty (and the sympathetic tbh). I am not interested in Eva, pregnant or otherwise. Kenya OTOH? Her Instagram is one big off-season soap spinoff. Bravo would be wise to use this as a launchpad into a better s11. Especially after they effed up the last 2-3 seasons so badly.

The scene when Bethenny is sitting around at the end of her Christmas party and she jokes that she is getting "Ho" sweaters for next year's party for Ramona, Tinsley and Sonja made me cringe.   She is so desperate to make a connection, while still trying to push everyone away, and she doesn't get her head out of her own ass long enough to realize that Tinsley and Ramona don't like her, and a sweater with Ho written on it is not going to help.

Also, Southern Charm had an amazing week.  Ashley is straight out of a soap opera.  When she berated Katherine about the kids I recalled when Y&R's Sheila called Lauren for a play date for their kids and then said that she "forgot" Lauren's son was dead.  When Ashley told Thomas that they were "stuck together for life" and he made a face to the camera it was straight out of when Scott Granger would roll his eyes over Sheila's obsession of him.  Finally, when Ashley offended Shep it reminded me of how Y&R's Sheila craziness came out when she talked to Paul.  I hope Ashley doesn't try to swap a baby or get plastic surgery to try to assume Katherine's life like Sheila did....

How immune am I to Bethenny's putdowns -- sorry, 'humor' ! -- on this show that I barely registered the silent discontent of the recipients of that joke? Sonja probably didn't register it either! Yes, Bethenny is anxious to connect with these women, and she fears that they resent her for her success. If I knew Bethenny, I would point out to her that when she returned in s7, she was as successful as she is now, and she was plenty loved, adored and coddled by all the women. It was she who had a problem with some of them (Kristen, Heather). Bethenny doesn't realise that her own outbursts of barely-contained rage keep some of the ladies at a distance. She is so hard and abrasive that it is difficult to cozy up to her. Especially when many women bond because of shared vulnerabilities and self-deprecation. Bethenny is unwilling to be vulnerable in front of these girls unless drunk, and her self-deprecation is for the VTs only. I do feel for her because she must be very lonely.

Last year's Southern Charm scared me away as it was a rather poor season. But this year seems to have reverted back on track. It is incredible how much dirt you can get on wealthy, connected, white scions when they are drunk and coked up! The monstrous 'star' of all this is of course the hideous Thomas Ravenel who will be gone after this season (thanks to them pesky sexual assault charges), and I wonder if Southern Charm will be able to continue after that. However, I am relieved to see him get his just desserts with that awful hired GF of his, Ashley. Best of all is seeing Kathryn back on track, sober, and determined to put her children first. All of this is the best kind of soap opera, and it is no accident that I have turned to some of these Bravo and RH shows for my dose of drama and sadly turned away from most of Daytime. I hadn't realized this story resembled a little of Y&R's Little Scotty SL until you pointed it out.

Yeah the tweets are basically a prop to launch talking points at these reunion shows. I also have my suspicions about the tweets AND the calls into WWHL as being fake -- some hapless staffer in the room next door, pretending to call from Omaha.

  13. 10 hours ago, j swift said:

Also, when they travel, the other ladies always fight with Ramona about the master suite.  However, their only argument seems to be that Ramona shouldn't always be able to get what she wants.  I think that's a shitty a way to treat a friend because they argue that she doesn't deserve it by virtue of wanting it; that is a circular argument.  She is always willing to share the room and there would be less drama if they would consider her feelings.

Regarding Bethenny and Dorinda, that went quickly into the weeds as well.  Dorinda was not asking for a written thank you for the nutcracker.  However, Bethenny's inability to read a room is astounding.  I get it that we are watching with background music and close-ups but, the ladies had an obvious reaction to Bethenny's response and she could not pick up the cues.

Speaking of cues, I don't think Luann gets how to reconnect with the ladies post divorce.  It is not about who was right or if they should have judged Tom.  It was, as Carole mentioned, Luann conflated her friends' concern with jealousy.  In my opinion, that is what requires an apology.

I don't like that Bethenny thinks it is amusing to joke about old stereotypes of lesbianism as a last chance for women incapable of maintaining relationships with straight men and gay men only function to make the lives of straight women more fabulous.  I think that type of humor is hackneyed and lacks sophistication.

    Hi!

Re: Ramona's assertiveness, that's an interesting take. The show makes it a real THING each year about 'pushy' Ramona sussing out the best room, but as you point out, she always shares with Sonja, therefore justifying the larger space. I think the other women are just jealous because Ramona is faster than they are. Ramona needs her creature comforts; she wants to feel in control when she is parachuted into an unknown country and sleeping environment, and since I have similar anxieties nowadays when I travel, I understand her demands. (I do wish she'd treat the wait staff at these places better, though).

Bethenny is tone-deaf, and her blog this week purposely ignores any concerns raised by Carole or Dorinda. Like I said before, though, it's been a long time coming. For +3 years, Bethenny had hiring/firing power behind-the-scenes (Heather, Jules, and very nearly Ramona last year), and she treats the other women onscreen like they work for her, too. She is incredibly self-centred. A lot of this is linked to the way her mother treated her growing up, of course. This season, the other women are forcing her to take a hard look at her attitude, but judging by this see-no-evil, hear-no-evil blog she coughed up, doesn't seem like she is willing to confront these issues any time soon.

Luann did indeed conflate her friends' concerns about Tom with jealousy, but I can't blame her for it. IMO, those 'concerns' barely covered the smugness and rejoicing at the fact that Tom was cheating on Luann. The other women were all about publicly humiliating her in order to force the cancellation of her wedding. Luann didn't want to lose to them so she pushed through with the wedding blindly in a misguided attempt to not 'lose face.' And for that reason, I don't think she should apologize to most of these women who actively wished her ill at the time and were focused on bringing her down.

  14. This epic episode gave me everything I could have ever hoped from this season of NYC. I waited for months for this season to start, nervous that I would be let down, but it has not failed me yet!

I can see both sides of Bethenny vs Carole as well as the flaws. I appreciate Bravo not trying to shape my perception of this in an overly biased or simplistic way. What's clear is that all these ladies are tired of being kicked around and lorded over by Bethenny.

Even amid the bitchfest, these women hold true affection for each other. This was evident in the Berkshires, at Bethenny's Christmas party and Luann's American Red Cross drive.

The ARC drive took me straight back to S1 NY -- Luann has been a supporter of the charity since her Countess de Lesseps days. I loved that this wasn't some empty gala, and that the HWs participated even though they couldn't give blood themselves because they have Tequila pumping through their veins (Luann, Sonja) or are *cough* 'naturally thin' (Carole).

I rediscovered my love for Sonja. Not only did she look gorgeous, but she held that lady's hand who was giving blood, instructed Ramona on how much iron she has in her stool, and lived her every sapphic fantasy dry-humping DrunkLuann, lol. Also loved that 'record scratch' moment when she mentioned Tom.

Luann calling Tom 'DICK' was FIRE!!! And so was the footage from the police car and her arraignment. I loved the ripped-from-the-headlines nature of it. I feel for Luann in having gotten to this humiliating place (and loathe Carole's obvious joy at Luann's downfall), but this seems like the rock-bottom Lu needed to hit in order to move forward properly.

Ramona gave me my favourite moment of the night when she didn't back down for one hot second in that telephone call with Bethenny. Ramona *unleashed*  and even her very well done Botox couldn't stop her face from contorting into expressions of sheer vengeance.

It's been a long time coming. I say this with a lot of love for Ramona... but S8 (aka Luann Bashing season) she cheered Bethenny on from the bleachers while B corralled everybody against Luann. However, 'minion' is not Ramona's natural role in life. She is a megastar in her own mind. She did not like S9's The Bethenny Show and being reduced to guest-supporting... but she f***ed up when she went after Bethenny's Cinemax past and dragged Brynn into it. Of course Bethenny leapt on that mistake and played victim. Ramona very nearly got fired from RHONY as a result. <_<

This season, somebody more competent and less mistake-prone is cutting Bethenny down to size. Ramona feels vindicated, and I'm sure that scene was +2 years of repressed resentment surging forth.

I have not watched yet (hello, time difference), but cannot wait for this gift-that-keeps-on-giving episode! I very nearly stopped watching RHONY S8-9 because of Bethenny. Her power BTS was too much and ruining the balance on the show. I don't need to see her torn to shreds, but this is a very organic reckoning.

Thus far, Gizelle is careful not to direct that shade at Robyn directly. They have an alliance and back each other up. Plus, the women that Gizelle hates, Robyn hates too, so it is a mutually beneficial relationship. I 100% hold Robyn accountable for coming after Monique when she was already trying to leave. Robyn badly wanted a fight, probably for relevancy reasons. Even Charrisse, whom I normally hate, told Robyn off.

What happened with Heather and Bethenny was so interesting and I can’t wait to watch that back! Heather was very sharp but you could tell she got caught up in typical Bethenny gaslighting. Bethenny I feel just didn’t like her but instead of just saying that she took whatever Heather did to turn it on her. I can’t wait to see that again!

They recently repeated S7 NY where I am (now we are on S8 aka Luann Bashing Season) and it was fascinating watching it in hindsight of the Bethenny we have seen since then. At the time I thought Heather was being way too preachy and intrusive, but looking back we see the seeds of the Bethenny we have today. She didn't like the only other Alpha female in the group with a legit business. In the Berkshires, the passive aggressive behavior was on max and Heather was left chasing her tail. They did make up in Turks & Caicos, but at reunion Bethenny shafted Heather again. It's too bad they didnt keep Heather because, whether as a team with Bethenny or as her rival, the dynamic would have been very interesting.

I love going back and rewatching old episodes/seasons. There is always stuff I miss, and sometimes my take on the women ends up completely different from when I first watched.

This hairdressing scene was meant to be Gizelle's Big Moment showing the audience that she's an actual human being and not a soulless mean girl. It was a FAIL. Gizelle was crying because she was counting on Sherman to pay for a big house for her mother. Now that Sherman is ghosting her, it's going to have to be a smaller house for ma!

Gizelle looking after her mother is a relatable issue for me. However,  what I cannot relate to is her assumption that her beauty is all that's needed to hook an old rich dude and finance everything. The fact that he is now ghosting her is something she, in her arrogance, never considered -- because she cannot comprehend why her looks might not be enough.

Robyn is a bully, goading Monique and trying to get her into a physical altercation. It's the only kind of a fight Robyn knows she can win, because if it were a battle of the wits... lol...

Ashley is messy AF. We all know Monique was drinking and driving. Ashley keeps bringing it up to tear Monique down, though. I also side-eye Ashley for boozing it up with Monique and then walking her to her car and letting her drive off without a word. Nobody I know would let a friend/acquaintance drink & drive. Why didn't she say anything? Was she being calculating for the sake of the show? That's a dangerous game to play.
