  1. I want to see whatever shot they're talking about in articles. One wouldn't let me play it (Eurosport?)?? A clip of the shot. Something about Moutet thought a ball was long/out and stopped playing, and Korda stuck his racket out and it landed in as a drop shot. Some discussions say it was a dirty move by Korda - but the way it's explained I think I don't understand. Did someone call the ball out, and Korda kept playing and won the point...but the ball wasn't out but in instead? Anyway, I don't understand. But it sounded like Moutet didn't like Korda playing the ball or acting like he wasn't going to play it, but then did and won the point. To (if that's the case) I would say the point isn't over until it's over and that's on you. That and I read that Moutet took a selfie with fans before the tie break in the 5th set??? Yikes. Hope the selfie was a good one, and the fan can save it under the title "right before he lost".
  2. This is why I visited this thread today...wanted to see if anyone was Talking about The Squalk and B&B sending more guests to Squalk and Squalk sending more "actors" to B&B. Like they have done with Sheryl repeatedly, to no avail. My favorite day of The Talk was when they did the CBS Soaps day a few years ago now...and the rousing ovation Guiding Light and World Turns got when they introduced them. I was shocked that day, given that the Talk is in Los Angeles and did not expect that reaction. I honestly cried and have watched those clips on YouTube several times. I think there was more surprise that day among the hosts than they were expecting. They had not witnessed THAT kind of love and were not expecting it. I hold that in my heart. LOL.
  3. Agree for the most part. Sloane falls in the Keys category for me with constantly badly mixed results, except that she did win a slam. I saw those results this morning. But, while I don't think Raducanu is all that (at ALL), at least Sloane played someone. Her opponent is a slam winner at least, as is she.
  4. I see the results from yesterday. Or the day before. So, let's place bets that Keys had the match of her tournament with the bouncing of Kenin. I know she's been playing well coming into the tournament but how many times have we seen this from Keys. I had to look her up to see her age and was surprised she's younger than I thought. Still, for years now it's been about that time that if she's going to do something, now is the time. I feel like we've been saying that for 5 years. But let's just see if she did her usual good match of a tournament and then folds like a cheap card table. I know it's still way early in her career but I'm starting to lean that way with Coco Gauff too. Maybe we're just used to seeing young stars have a breakthrough early and make that move. But it's starting to bother me a little with Coco. She's creeping up on the age where girls stop growing, and grow into their bodies, etc. etc. etc. Not the easiest of first round opponents when you look at that girl's record here and there that she lost to, but...not a great first round loss. I'm watching Gauff this year specifically because the timing is there...I feel like a somewhat weaker field than a lot of young players dealt with...and something should be happening. Quarters consistently reached, being constantly on the radar in later rounds, and this is a problem for me and her right now. *itching over. Glad to see there's actually a tournament going on after the Guiding Plight and As the World Burns of Djokovic.
  5. I don't understand ESPN at all. At all. They have the rights to this, so....how many Tennis fans do they think there are that are going to pay extra for this? I don't really care because I have everything, but you take a look at ESPN and all through the night, when the Open is on - they're running SportsCenter on the usual loop they do every night. All night long. On and on. LOLLLLLL. Like, you can't PUT the Open, which I GUESS you paid for....on your main network??? Do they think everyone is going to run out and permanently subscribe to extra ESPN2 or the whole package or whatever just to see the Australian Open???? I get that it couldn't start on time tonight on ESPN because of football overrun likely....but...what is the deal with running a re-run sports show all night long??????
  6. Well as a really long-ass analogy....It's kind of like wanting a hearing or having a hearing to see if the election was fair or not when there's no real evidence that it wasn't fair (and you still lost by 7 million votes and not all of those people were dead or ineligible to vote and elections in this country have never been proven to be unfair with the possible exception of one prior election that had outside influence via social media but you won that election so you didn't care)....and none of that would have mattered anyway and you can have Arizona and Pennsylvania too if you want them and the Democrats still win the election with 273 electoral college votes anyway).....this hearing is kind of like that.
  7. Well, I'm a Roger fan, but in all fairness - all 3 of the big 3 have rabid unreasonable fans. They all have fans who are crazy. Djokovic has given everyone reasons to hate him but - all of the Roger and Rafa fans would be canaries singing a different tune and song if Rafa or Roger had done the same thing. While they didn't, there are crazy blocks of fans for all of the big 3 that would have defended them.
  8. I haven't seen this but on another topic from Ann it's a shocking day when she says something that we can agree with - not so long ago when people were attacking Biden on the results of the withdrawal from Afghanistan she mentioned that most Republicans talked about it and so did Trump and wanted to do it but no one had the balls to do it...at least Biden did and there was no way it was ever going to be perfect. Of course she tossed in a swipe at Obama as well which I would suspect, but I was shocked at least she gave Biden props for that. In regard to the Polls and negatives for Biden, I just think about 90%+ Presidents (probably more) weren't handed the bag of steaming shi* and complete dumpster fire that Biden was handed. I can't think of 4 years of more awfulness that we had just endured. The Great Depression was no prize but the U.S. didn't have such negatives sentiments against us from so many nations. I say that honestly and without apology and I guess people could say that's typical for a Democrat but I do try to look at all possible situations and outcomes and whatever before I just spit out talking points.
  9. I haven't watched Y&R in a while, but this will definitely make me tune in. I miss Robert Newman and always said he's one of the best looking men on Daytime. Back when my sisters and friends were losing their shite over how hot Tony Geary and the men on GH were....and then Todd/Roger Howarth on OLTL....(both YUCK to me but) I couldn't believe people did NOT notice Robert Newman or he never came up as one of the nicest/hottest looking men in Daytime. Back then I was like...y'all can have those guys, I'm watching Guiding Light. LOL
  10. I haven't seen it in ages but did pass by a couple of weeks ago and saw the "new" Taylor I guess and thought - wow, what an improvement. I know people probably wouldn't like that, but this girl seemed like Taylor to me - looked the part, and looked like Steffy, and was better in the role for the 3 or 4 minutes I left it on. From what I remember Hunter Tylo said some off-handed things - maybe rightly so but kind of seemed like slammed the door on the show, wasn't happy with her returns. Maybe rightly so, but it smacked of a backhand that you probably shouldn't give unless you don't plan on working again. I don't see any show standing in line to get her, so hopefully she's set financially and wants to be a Housewife of whatever (is she on that or am I thinking of Lisa Rinna???) - anyway, those shows are interchangeable and honestly so are those 2 actresses.
  11. Well there's a major problem. It doesn't matter what Republicans want or advise him to do or whatever. If he runs he's going to win. They're burying their heads in the sand and keep saying that someone is going to emerge, someone's going to be a front-runner, etc. And NO one is or WILL be. And if one of the sane ones like Kinzinger were to emerge Trump and his people would absolutely destroy him. He has destroyed the Republican party and they cannot see it. They think they're just fine, while he sits and waits for his victim.
  12. Well it appears that what happened is what should have happened. From the dates, I believe the deadline from Tennis Australia I think was December 10th or 12th for the request for exemption with the paperwork that you were positive. So he missed that deadline anyway. I've been trying to follow along. But, whether or not a deadline was extended or not - doesn't matter. What people don't understand is that it's not Tennis Australia that matters. It doesn't matter what they say you need to provide for an exemption or whatever is necessary to play in the tournament. It doesn't matter, for the basic premise that you have to get into the country first. So while it appears they expected him and told him he was cleared to come, that's not getting into the country. And regardless of all of THAT - a visa is just a visa. Different things happen at the border anyway, and it does in every country. They can refuse you for whatever reason they want - visa or not. From my understanding (and I do not travel internationally), the visa has some type of approval from someone at the Embassy or Consolate or whatever BEFORE you go. That's how you have a visa. So someone gave him one and should not have. Or he did not have proof of paperwork when he got to Australia. You can have a visa but still have to provide whatever documentation they ask for at the border - and he either didn't have that documentation or they didn't like it. Which either happens. Someone at the border doesn't like you, you're not getting in. I know I can never travel to Canada because I've had a DUI. Now, I've been told that I can get to the border and they may not 'catch it'. But they share a database with the U.S. because of 9/11. If I get to the border and they see it, I'm not getting in. Pretty much ever. There is - yes - a process you can go through to get admitted. Having all of your paperwork that you satisfied your duties and punishment, letters of recommendation, time passing - I don't remember. But I do know that a President of ours had to have a pardon to get in and didn't even go through all of that. There are stories out there of people who had possession of pot when they were in college, and are now in their 50's or 60's, and it's on their record, and they get stopped and cannot get into Canada. Things may have changed, but if they have it's been since I checked within the last 5-10 years. I know what I'm talkin' bout there. Which, in case anyone wants to know - a lot a lot a lot of people do not know - Canadians can have a DUI and come to the U.S. without question. So, when I hear people talking about the problems with border control, I make sure I inform them of this - because I know they're griping about Mexico, and don't even know this about Canada. But that's another show as Oprah would say. Long and short, Australia ain' Djokin' around and he isn't getting in to a Grand Slam because he missed two shots.
  13. Probably won't get a popular opinion but Nadine and Buzz on GL. Jenna was nice and everything but I liked the idea of Nadine and Buzz. Killing Nadine off was another in a long line of missteps on GL. Tag Jenna on there too, along with Maureen of course. Hillary didn't make a ton of sense either to me. Some of these killing offs did nothing to drive plot or have long term ramifications the way a good death should. Some say that Maureen's death drove stories for years...I disagree. I don't see how it did a thing. Way off topic for this but Lillian really got squat out of Maureen's death.
  14. Today Greta Van Susteren tweeted that this would be an important speech by the President and she hoped he didn't make it political because the country was so divided. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Because UM yeah, this whole THING wasn't political was it Greta? WHY is it DIVIDED you stupid *ITCH? I wanted to tweet back at her to STFU. My God. REALLY.????? Because you know, the Republicans NEVER would have been political if this had been the other way around...say a crowd of black people had taken over the Capitol briefly, someone died, stuff like that...and you WON the election. Your President NEVER EVER would have made it political. Jesus. Every time I think I'm not a good enough Democrat, maybe I'm more moderate, maybe I'm leaning conservative on something.... someone speaks like that and snaps me right back to reality - thank God.
  15. One thing typically holds true - Tennis parents and Figure skating parents will be crazy.
  16. I saw quotes, probably "out of context" of one congressman saying "if it hadn't been for the videos the people would have looked like any normal protesters on any other day." Yeah, Ok. This goes right in the bucket of great quotes like..."DC actually has a low crime rate if it wasn't for all the killin's" -Marion Berry.
  17. Well if it does come to pass, good. If it doesn't, then move on or cancel the tournament if they're that worried about it. Australia has been one of the most stringent when it comes to the pandemic and went from the lowest rates of infection to one of the highest in the last 2 weeks. I doubt that was because of Tennis players. And last year there was controversy over some players being quarantined at one hotel while others were not and allowed to practice freely and came and went - so they've made mistakes before. Get it totally right and cancel it and be done. Their vaccination rate is near 80%, less for the booster but it's not working and the myth out there that vaccinated people don't spread the virus or are far less likely is not holding up. It's either that or a huge majority of people in Australia are not vaccinated and the numbers are totally incorrect. I know plenty of people (my sister included) here in the U.S. who were double vaccinated and boostered and got it. There's no tracing it at this point, so let them clam themselves up down under completely again and see if that works. But it's not going to. I'm a bad Democrat because while I was vaxxed and boostered, I've said at some point people are going to have to live with it as a way of life. From the beginning before the vaccine was available I said it would end up being like the flu year in and year out with a different strain or two every year - and the first vaccines work for the initial strain but by the time you get the vaccine, there's another strain out there that it doesn't cover. Some people will be vaccinated, some won't. Some die, some don't. So we either live with it the best we can and move on, or just cancel everything when it makes sense. Done.
  18. Well, not defending him but - it's probably medical exemption and valid. He had a history of collapsing on the court, and Roddick and Federer openly made fun of him at the time. It's still out there. They always thought it was sports/cardio induced asthma. But a doctor figured out it was gluten allergies and other food related allergies. He changed his diet and it changed his life. I wouldn't doubt that someone (an independent board) can't explain why that was the case, but it was. And he probably gets an exemption for a)if it was sports/cardo related asthma OR the b) food allergy - not to &uck with it. Even if it's unreasonable to think a vaccine could &uck with it, at least he has a valid reason not to &uck with it and the history and proof of his physical breakdowns prior to his diet change are well documented. A lot of other people cannot claim that.
  19. Wasn’t or isn’t B&B called just Beautiful in another/some countries or was meant to be a possibility for the original name?
  20. ditto. And the thing that makes me mad about Amazon is seeing the same products or very similar in quantity be so vastly different in price, for the same thing. Like this past week, I was sick of buying soup by 2 or 3 cans at a time (I know - white people problem) - I just like to use my reusable/recyclable bags at the grocery store and you can only carry so much - so I went to Amazon and found VERY different prices on Progresso soups - same ounces per can, but 5 cans versus 8 cans - and they were the SAME price. Same soup. 5 cans vs. 8 cans. Someone could easily pay that amount of money for 5 cans and could get 8 right next to it. The 8 was closer to what the price should be per can. If you hadn't noticed and bought the 5 can choice, it was $24.99. FIVE DOLLARS EACH Per CAN. That's INSANE. It's that way with SO many things I see. Same product, different prices for no reason, and just out and out GOUGING. BOTH of my examples were from WHOLE FOODS!!
  21. I thought the same and I don't know if they got the height wrong but if she's that tall, he's taller than her in the picture by a couple/few inches already. Unless the picture is at a weird angle and he's standing on higher ground. It sounds like they're coaching him the right way by having him get some kind of net game early, even if it means losses. God knows he'll have groundstrokes with her around. Now if she can just keep her lackluster demeanor on the court away from him he could be really good.
  22. What I'm not listening to. Mariah Carey and that awful Christmas song that everyone seems to love. I will not speak its name. Just thought I would say that. This was my Mom's favorite Christmas song. Thanks for the reminder. She passed on Christmas Day in 2007...I think of her a lot every day, and every Christmas when I hear this I know she's up there Rockin' Around the Christmas tree. 🙂
  23. They are terrible at messaging at almost every level. Trumpkin vs. McAuliffe proved it. Terry's response ads -- I was waiting for them to be really stupid. I said as soon as it started, PLEASE DO NOT SAY TAKEN OUT OF CONTEXT. DON'T DO IT. And that's exactly what they did. Instead of saying I believe in PUBLIC education, and parents have a right to have input into their child's education - but I highly doubt they're going to sit down with every teacher every night to do their lesson plans. Education means respecting every Religion and every fact. Both I and my opponent attended Private schools but I KNOW not everyone can afford it and it's not the answer for the majority of Virginians. That's why I favor Public education. ANYTHING but out of context....just SO STUPID.
  24. If he does vote no, just wait for a Trumper challenger coming his way running nasty yet truthful ads that say Manchin HATES coal miners. He voted AGAINST you for important legislation that would have HELPED you! And it will serve him right. Honestly how can someone be this stupid to not see it coming.
