“Trump was sitting there with his arms crossed, clearly not liking the fact that they were ganging up on him,” Bremmer said to the news outlet. “He eventually agreed and said OK, he’ll sign it. And at that point, he stood up, put his hand in his pocket, his suit jacket pocket, and he took two Starburst candies out, threw them on the table and said to Merkel, ‘Here, Angela. Don’t say I never give you anything.’ ”

This is what sort of foreign policy the administration is offering. Childish, disrespectful, ignorant.

  2. The election is 140 days away. It's ok to feel angry or upset, but keep your eye on the prize and do not forget to push. Walk precincts, phone bank, donate and if none of that appeals to you stuff envelopes or send out postcards. Even if you are in a state or district that won't flip get in contact with campaigns to see what you can do to help because that House and Senate popular vote is going to be critical for symbolic reasons. The fringe needs to know that they do not own this country.

  3. The issues with the foundation are more of a problem than the collusion investigation. Not that the collusion isn't serious, but the foundation can actually bring him down because there are more direct links to him.

  4. McCarthy's district is the safest Republican seat in California, but his next door neighbor Republican David Valadao could take a big hit from tariffs because he is in a seat that voted for Clinton. The Central Valley is full of almonds and those would be hit hard by tariffs.

  5. Antonio Sabato Jr. will not advance to the top two for the 26th district he was running in because he managed to be edged out by someone crazier than him. Kimberlin Brown will advance to November in the 36th district. A mixed bag for soap actors running for office tonight.

On update, Sabato did make the top two but has little chance of winning in November against Julia Brownley.

  6. Let me say right up front that I don't approve of anyone being assaulted but  he's going to insult the wrong person one day and get punched in the face. There was a woman who kept calling a black man the N-Word on a bus and he punched her.

  7. For the past few city council meetings where I'm at these MAGA people have flooded the chamber trying to get the council to "opt out" of SB-54 (the Sanctuary State law). I spoke in public comment last night and made it clear that I wasn't there to call them all racists (even if some were), but some guy after the meeting accused me of the race card and tried to argue with me. I shut him down by saying "Sweetheart, have several seats I'm not doing this with you". He didn't like the sweetheart and he walked away from me as I knew he would.

  8. Roger Stone knew plenty and he practically let that be known in his tweets. That aside the collusion is still happening on social media. Right after that whole mess with Kanye West a lot of black Twitter users reported being followed by hair weave accounts. Of course not all black people are interested in hair weave but Russia will create algorithms for these robot to attempt to find people to follow based on things like consumerism.

  9. One thing that people shouldn't worry about is him not leaving office. His authority ends at noon on inauguration day 2021 (should he lose then) and the most he could would be to refuse to leave the White House grounds. Even then the Secret Service would just physically remove him like Omarosa.

  10. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-03-21/youtube-bans-firearm-sales-and-how-to-videos-prompting-backlash

YouTube will ban videos that promote or link to websites selling firearms and accessories, including bump stocks, which allow a semi-automatic rifle to fire faster. Additionally, YouTube said it will prohibit videos with instructions on how to assemble firearms. The video site, owned by

Alphabet Inc.’s Google, has faced intense criticism for hosting videos about guns, bombs and other deadly weapons.

This is a win and exactly the sort of action that is needed from the private sector to help gun control efforts.

  11. This is really interesting data https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2018/03/19/upshot/race-class-white-and-black-men.html

Black boys raised in America, even in the wealthiest families and living in some of the most well-to-do neighborhoods, still earn less in adulthood than white boys with similar backgrounds, according to a sweeping new study that traced the lives of millions of children.

White boys who grow up rich are likely to remain that way. Black boys raised at the top, however, are more likely to become poor than to stay wealthy in their own adult households.

Poor white children struggle in parts of the Southeast and Appalachia. But they still fare better there than poor black children do in most of America. In effect, the worst places for whites produce outcomes that are about as good as the best places for blacks. These new maps also suggest that part of the reason the Southeast looks bad for

all children, in the middle map, is that the region is home to many black children who fare particularly poorly there.

  12. Kimberlin Brown's fundraising for her congressional campaign was pretty lackluster for the last filing quarter. She only took in $138k. From a quick glance over the contributions made I saw that only one soap actor (or actor period) donated and that was Robert S. Woods.

Antonio Sabato Jr. did worse raising only $40k and he has $14k in unpaid bills. Scott Baio donated $1000 dollars to his campaign.

  13. And we still have Omarosa's book presumably in the works. From the excerpts released it seems like Bannon is not lying if one goes by Trump's behavior. Ivanka's speech at the convention was essentially a laundry list of things that she would want to accomplish as a politician, not her father's plans.

  14. There was a surge in younger voters in Shelby County (suburban Birmingham), so that definitely helped.

    27 minutes ago, JaneAusten said:

It's primarily a voting issue for white folks. There are lots of black women who are pro life but understand that many don't have the latitude to be one issue voters. And also Jones is not for partial birth abortion because it's illegal.

Indeed. Black voters vote based on economics and civil rights, which is a far more strategic way of voting.

  15. Jones' strategy was better and smarter than that of any Democrat running in a southern state in a long time. He engaged the black electorate heavily and he targeted white educated suburban voters. The path to victory for Democrats just about everywhere now is through minorities and educated whites.
