Oh I remember him. He used to get a ton of media attention in the '00s when they were heavily pushing the narrative that black voters would become Republicans for religious reasons.

That seems like a lifetime ago. It was really a stretch when that narrative was pushed.

  2. The person behind Black Americans for the President's Agenda is the insane Vernon Robinson who is actually crazy. He has called himself the Black Jesse Helms and he has failed multiple times at being elected to Congress with unhinged campaigning.

  3. Kanye West is not far away from a fatal drug overdose or bizarre accident. I'm really not trying to be mean, but he's got mental problems and is the type that will eventually do harm to himself like other troubled celebrities have.

  4. The Midwest is always the swing region in midterms. It came through huge for Democrats in 2006 and will probably come through even bigger this year. One of the critical things about this midterm is that Democrats can secure partial (hopefully full) control of redistricting in key states like Michigan and Wisconsin, perhaps even Ohio.

Looking back I'm amazed that Roy Moore lost.

Only because voters had a direct say in that. If Kavanaugh was running for an elected in a state that had similar political split as the nation as a whole (Nevada is closest to the median) he would have lost.

Dynasties are only a bad thing if Democrats are involved - the Clintons, the Kennedys. I remember the years of breathless press about how Jeb Bush was the "smart" brother and he was sure to be President someday, asking Barbara Bush about what it was like to have a dynasty, hyping Jeb's son George P Bush. And now I see that Trump's bootlickers Mika and Joe are pushing the line that Ivanka Trump will run in 2020, which is ludicrous, yet shows the feverish Beltway need for these bad melodramas.

(you have to laugh at everyone knowing the ugly brothers have no chance)

Ivanka pushed a lot of Democratic sounding initiatives (like paid family leave) that gave Trump a lot of political cover. Her RNC speech was not even remotely Republican. She will never have a political career though with her unethical business practices and unwavering support of her father. Plus, she is too liberal for Republicans to nominate and Democrats wouldn't even nominate her as drain commissioner, so she's a non-factor.

  6. Each woman who has accused Kavanaugh should file civil suits against him. It's a lot easier to get favorable rulings from civil suits. He should be tainted for the rest of his career even if he did make it to the court. He doesn't deserve one ounce of respect.

  7. Democratic Senate candidates can start raising more cash off of this immediately and going into the home stretch more money is always a good advantage. The House is already on track to flip, but the more seats that can be flipped the better. People are really angry about this confirmation and anger drives voters to the polls more than anything else.

  8. Drinking until you get sick is a definition of drinking to excess and anyone who has drank that much has probably blacked out at one point or another. The information that is trickling out is exactly what Republicans were worried about. Kavanaugh is being revealed to be more and more of a liar.

  9. This entire mess is going to help turnout women voters in suburbs. The number of women who have been assaulted or harassed is incredibly high, so women are being triggered. My mom revealed to me years ago that she had been assaulted twice and she just mentioned again a couple of days ago. Further back my great-grandmother and a great aunt both had children as a result of being raped, but of course never received justice because of the era. For Kavanaugh to still even have a chance at being confirmed is infuriating and makes a lot of people even more anxious to vote.

  10. From an HR prospective Kavanaugh wouldn't get hired to stock shelves before a store opened. I took an HR course and learned a lot about how hiring works even for the simplest of jobs. The fact that he is still being given a chance shows how out of control partisanship is right now.

  11. There is some suspense in the room, but these situations can be totally unpredictable. Flake has a visit to New Hampshire scheduled which of course means presidential exploration so he could flip to remain viable but the odds are long of that.

Well, you came awfully close this afternoon! ;)

He went from screeching about the Clintons to sobbing about calendars, so he certainly showed a couple of personalities. That aside, I found the Niki/Viki scene on Youtube and I'm watching it now.

  13. He clearly was on some sort of sedative or mood stabilizer giving that speech because he was speaking slower and less screechy. Of course it couldn't stop him from saying anything stupid, but it was enough to keep him from going completely crazy in a venue where the country could least afford it. This isn't the first time he appeared to be heavily medicated, he looked the same giving a speech at G7.

I think there are more late bloomers than most people realize (I was 21).  It's not unbelievable that some people graduate from college without having sex.  He belonged to a hard partying frat though and that makes it beyond my belief.  There is no way he was accepted into that culture and was a virgin, imo.  I believe the truth will out.

I agree with this that there are plenty of people who make it through college without having sex. It was the fact that he tried to present himself this way while being accused of assault that made it seem quite suspicious.
