  1. I think this change ends the casual viewer…and may cause those who were getting bored or are bored to move on, ofc less likely to get hate watching if you have to pay. The one thing that gets me is the whole Beyond Salem was successful behind paywall, but part of that had to do with people who may not be on Days proper for months to come so they cannot capitalize. Agree if they did post complete library of 20th century episodes, I would be happily surprised.

  2. With individual streamers existing now for major companies, Netflix and Hulu may have issues as they lose back catalog. Hulu may also be in trouble with NBC pulling their shows to Peacock and Disney+ added some shows that are more graphic than GH, so it isn’t the destination that it once was. The European equivalent has everything both Family Friendly and not on Hulu and Disney Plus too, so it goes back to contracts. It may be a known brand, but it may be less for streaming network shows and if there are not enough originals people may unsubscribe if all they use it for is time shifting shows that are now on other streaming sites.

getting back to Days since the show is streaming only in the US thankfully Canadians can still watch, they should start making the format more palatable for online viewing. There is no need to flashback to something that happened a day or week before typically unless they are giving new information. With how far ahead they are we probably won’t get changes for a long time which makes it more annoying.

I do wonder if Days and Peacock will provide help to set up the app, as it is not available on all smarttvs, and if you only have a phone watching something longer is a pain. So they should team with Roku or something….

  3. If they start charging Comcast people for premium they will lose some of them, as Comcast mentions in their bills how it is a part of the subscription and originally it was added when they dumped other movie stations. They eliminated NBCsportsNet and Olympic Channel too, so a lot less events are available on tv as it is.

When it comes to getting rid of recurring younger performers I wonder if this situation was a way to cut the cast and save money. And Corday knew the possibility for some time.

  4. If they said they could not air anything before the show was HD I could accept that excuse. Music being embedded or being paid for one use is a real thing. That is what happened with WKRP in Cincinnati they didn’t have rights beyond airing on regular tv, and stripping out the music cost a lot, so it took years for them to secure the rights to the majority of the soundtrack.

  5. Thank you for getting Erika’s statement Errol.

SID had quotes from Gina Tognoni, Frank Dicoupolous and Robert Newman https://www.soapsindepth.com/gallery/guiding-light/a-special-tribute-to-soap-star-jerry-verdorn

SOD posted a roundup with others already shared and included an email statement from Amanda Setton. https://www.soapoperadigest.com/content/stars-react-to-jerry-verdorns-passing/

soapshub had a long statement from Michael O’Leary who found over the phone from Grant Alexander and one from Kim Zimmer in two different articles.

Sorry my cut and paste is broken…

  6. This years in memory of segment is going to be difficult and I hope they don’t screw it up or else they will have a lot of upset viewers. I think and hope we will hear from certain people eventually through others. I could see Kristen posting for her brother and with his own cancer battle… anyway I am expecting to hear from some of the guys at Gl perhaps Courtney Simon will tweet on behalf of Peter as they shared a dressing room for years and irl friends.

Betterforgotten that clip today is even more poignant than it was back then…

  7. My favorite scene of Jerry on OLTL was the one that aired on the same day where Erika had lines about being a soap fan from the end of the program. I thought it summed up his career in soaps in a way being about the experience and those important people you meet along the way being important even if over the years the relationship had changed. I didn’t see that as about Clint, and well he had to look away, to compose himself.

I don’t know what my favorite Ross scene was, but I appreciate the laughter not that Ross wasn’t a serious character but there were some where you just knew he was having fun whether the material was serious or not.
