  1. In NYC, Santa Barbara moved from the 3 pm time slot years before the cancellation, so it was not against Guiding Light. I was someone who watch GH and SB before dipping my toes in with Guiding Light, and only gave it a chance after SB no longer was on after school and GH the show I watched when I was younger and at the neighbors was truly annoying. Yes I grew up in a house without cable…

the first time we saw Cynthia Watros in Gl, she was a quick hook up of Matt Reardon, but nothing really happened, and was supposed to be an unrelated waitress character. Then she was recurring as Nurse Annie, JFP was forced to bring Zimmer back for a short stint hence the ghost, but then JFP was gone to AW the P&G producer switch and Laibson with McTavish as head wronger (intentionally misspelled) were hired.  Then Annie and Josh became extremely saccharine with LOWHAD land of wishes hopes and dreams carousel set, while Reva was Amish with a family that wasn’t the Yoders. The audience didn’t seem split pro Reva/Josh reuniting and Annie/Josh together as there was another faction of people who just did not like either pairing as they took up a lot of screen time and neither part of the story was all that interesting during the fall of 95.

  2. I doubt the amount of viewers who watch both GH and B&B is very large, as traditionally people were loyal by network or only watched one or two shows, but with only four shows it may be more common than when there were so many more. But as long  as soaps don’t have actors on exclusive contacts it will happen. When Wally Kurth was on contract on Days for a time in the last decade and not recurring, he was not allowed to be on GH too, but if he was recurring he could do both. Due to how far in advance Days episodes are completed he was on both shows at the same time though the actual episodes were done months apart.

  3. Kodak used True Colors in tv ads (late 80s and early 90s) and it was not about the LGBT+ community specifically you could take it to mean what you wanted, as obviously Kodak didn’t use it in that way. Eventually  Cyndi spoke about LGBT issues and became an advocate with a foundation named after the song. I hope what happened makes things better, but certain states need to get old laws off the books just in case.

  4. I still haven’t gotten over how Douglas was conceived, as that trashed the character of Thomas for me, as the show acts like it never happened or that the behavior was okay but dubious consent is still wrong, and when it happened B&B did not understand why people were upset.  If the public knew what he did he would be cancelled and the media would attack the brand especially since Hope for the Future is supposed to be a womenswear brand about real issues. At least that may be interesting unlike Thomas using Douglas.

at the end of the day, I just wish that Thomas and Steffy would realize that Taylor deserves better than their father and find Taylor her own Finn, as it was such a relief to have Steffy finally find someone who puts her first. I want Ridge alone, and not with Brooke either…

  5. Alex was supposed to be like early Justin, who goes around trying and succeeding in getting into many ladies pants until, he falls for the unattainable woman. You can be that way and not be immature…

when Michael Fairman had the official Days podcast, one of the guests interviewed was their acting coach, so they had one in the last five years.

  6. Yes I bet they churn memberships when new Drag Race that is exclusive to their streamer is out of season, like the yearly departures after Big Brother live feeds end.

I want to be optimistic about new Picard but season 2 was disappointing to me and getting excited and then it getting dashed again would be awful especially with the return of beloved characters.

  7. Where I live if you are a senior there is a cable package that for one tv in the 30-40 dollar range. This is mainly local channels, so NBC is included…so I can see someone with that package and no Internet beyond on their phone opting out, if their tv is too old without an HDMI port you can’t even cast from a phone to a Roku..but if your cell package has throttling or is not unlimited Peacock may be out of reach without help and a spend of more than what is advertised.

  8. I said live action, I know Lower Decks is on and then Prodigy. Spending five dollars a month for about 2 hours of entertainment through the end of the year unless they take off time over the holidays and then having another hiatus is not worth keeping a subscription to me. Might as well wait to binge as it will only take a weekend to catch up on the animation. And unlike the live action shows, if I get spoiled I don’t get upset by it.

when they announced unofficially that Picard was only going to be on in 2023, I was annoyed as they made the episodes so long ago. Doing two seasons back to back can mess up the quality, and it felt like the second season suffered from that.

I have lost interest in so many things due to too long hiatuses, mistrust in the powers that be etc. And I am getting that way with Trek after what happened to the international viewers with Discovery and how some still haven’t gotten any Prodigy or all of Strange New Worlds due to the rollout of Paramount Plus. When you own your shows why are you geoblocking yourself?

If they announced that Strange New Worlds was slated for Spring 2023, my reaction would be more positive as they may have wanted jt to air right after or concurrently with Picard like this year. I would hope by now it wouldn’t take more than six months to do post production on 10 episodes of SNW. It sounded like they weren’t far into the next season of Discovery, so will that even be streaming in 2023?

Unless there is another movie with TNG cast this would probably be the last time Patrick would be on stage promoting something Star Trek on September 8, and I was disappointed that there was little made of the 35th anniversary of TNG being this month with Patrick being on stage, without anyone from TNG was everyone else out of town other than Q. John DeLancie was there, so why was he not in the panel as he was on season 2.

Having Tawny and Paul host was fine,  as it meant we got things off script. And even if the Generations joke probably made sense to very few people though the show Paul described was Passions with the doll. That said their podcast being on hiatus for 18 months again was a weird decision, as it wasn’t tied into current episodes.

basically I miss getting excited about new Trek coming and Star Trek day didn’t provide that for me. And isn’t it the point of the event to get people excited for upcoming shows or to buy merch. There was nothing that made me think oh wow I can’t wait to see that in many months from now or nostalgic not counting the short clip package on Nichelle.
