  1. I'm not sure how they'd have explained the accent..but OMG, the diction between Ian and Maeve! The slimy innuendos he tried to come on to Van---*flesh crawl*
  2. Thank you!! Y'know I love Billy bein' a big ol' [!@#$%^&*] to Reva. And now I get it in English! I think the Alex episode was the first episode of 1989.
  3. I just remarked that it was strange Vanessa had no onscreen grandchild, when she'd been on the show forever at that point. And because she's not on the last episode, we don't see her get to anticipate it either. Billy ---Susan, (Bill's unborn child) Reva---Susan, Sarah and Henry (who Shayne had just discovered) Josh---Henry Ed--Jude, Leah, Robbie, Hope Buzz--Susan, Zach, Jude, Marina, Francesca Holly--Kevin, Jason, Clarissa Roger---Kevin, Jason, Clarissa, RJ and Peter Lillian--Lizzie, James, Peyton Alan--Lizzie, James, Zach, Emma, and a great grandchild (Lizzie and Bill's) Ross---none Vanessa--Bill's unborn child
  4. Yes, but the child wasn't born onscreen. Although I do think they say it's a boy. Dinah had at least two miscarriages through the years. One would have been biologically Vanessa and Ross' grandchild. The other (that I recall) was actually Cassie and Edmund's child and no relation to Vanessa. Bill adopted Olivia's daughter Emma, but that was annulled, and the child Bill thought he had with Ava Peralta was Remy Boudreaux's son. The weird (and by that I mean soap opera incestuous) thing is, Bill and Lizzie's child was Vanessa's grandchild and Ross' great-great nephew (or niece).
  5. LOL...Nick and Mindy's non-wedding coincides (or at least kicks off) the Blackout of '92, which fans usually cite as a favorite story (or group of episodes). It coincides with GL's anniversary week. For a while, GL really tried to do a "big" event that week of the year.
  6. Roger and Alex brought Eve to town in '92 to break up Nick and Mindy's relationship. (Eve was an old girlfriend; and she didn't realize she was their pawn) Nick and Mindy were about to get married, when Mindy left town (Mindy had altered Nick's DNA test results; she didn't want him to know he was Alex's son. Alex found out and told Mindy Nick knew and wasn't going to marry her) Eve was suffering PTSD from being a political prisoner in some godforsaken country (she was gang-raped), and glommed on to Nick. Nick and Eve hooked up. When Mindy came back in early '93, Eve realized Nick was still in love with Mindy. She started acting weird, she tore up Mindy's photos of her and Nick, she made it seem like Mindy was stalking her, she trashed her own car with a baseball bat and made it look like Mindy had done it. She even put on a wig and acted like Mindy while on a trip with Nick. It all hit the fan on the night of Mindy's fashion show. Eve stole the show-stopper wedding gown that Mindy was going to model. She also drugged Mindy's water right before Mindy got into her car to drive her and her brother Bill (Billy and Vanessa's son) and they got into a car accident. She then doctored the blood alcohol test to make it appear that Mindy was drunk. By this time Nick and Ed have caught on, and Eve really flips, ties Mindy up and nearly takes a header off the lighthouse. Ed talked her down and got her treatment. I haven't watched much of GL '94, but I assume they were a controversial couple because she was his first relationship after Maureen died (and everyone loved Maureen).
  7. Rick left town in early '91 as part of the community service he was sentenced to. In '90, Phillip had been framed for the murder of Neil Everest, Beth's lover. (Beth had been presumed dead, and came back a mute amnesiac.) Phillip, with Rick's help, faked his death to avoid prosecution. (Rick's "help" was procuring a dead body for them to burn in a car accident I believe). Rick then married Beth, who was pregnant with Lizzie. There was a point where Rick could've testified against Phillip for a lighter sentence (and Ed wanted him to), but he refused. This was a pattern in the Rick/Phillip relationship, with Rick getting pulled into Phillip's crazy life and trying to clean up the mess for Phillip. '95 may have been when they recast teen Michelle (Rachel Miner) with Rebecca Budig.
  8. I guess it depends on what you're looking for?
  9. At least that might've been interesting. Sid had ambition. But yeah, P&G sure wasn't going there.
  10. Jenna was a con artist/jewel thief. She and Buzz had plenty in common. Vanessa was an accomplished, sophisicated woman. It was bad enough when they stuck her with the ex-gigolo.
  11. A) Olivia certainly wasn't Vanessa and B ) by the time that happened, Buzz had at least matured somewhat.
  12. Justin could be sexy. But as written, there was nothing Vanessa would've been attracted to in Buzz.
  13. STOP. IMMEDIATELY, if not sooner. in trying to fantasy cast---Ian Buchanan. Can you see how pretty Ian and Maeve would be together?
  14. They really should've bitten the bullet and brought in someone new for Vanessa. At the time, Fletch was really the only available male on the show. Billy wouldn't have been threatened by Ross, even though I would've loved a true Ross/Vanessa/Billy triangle. I can't even think of anyone GL could've brought back to be an also-ran. Justin might've made sense, if they hadn't recasted so badly.
  15. Well, on GL, just being a Spaulding entitled you to head the business. Phillip runs it with about a semester's worth of college. A-M had a slightly harder road, Alex had picked Vanessa as president before she left in '92. Jenna (with Roger's help) takes Spaulding away from Vanessa and A-M (mostly thanks to A-M losing an important copy of a contract) in '93. When Spaulding's returned, A-M must get the presidency. As Vanessa was running Lewis Oil.
  16. ON OCCASION? Oh, honey....granted it was more after Reva's resurrection, but she never met a chunk of scenery she wouldn't chew. I swear, sometimes it was like Jay was ghostwriting Fletch's attempts at romance. 'Cause I can't recall any other character getting a crack at so many leading ladies. Although honestly, as much as I hate Fletch/Van, her snapping on him is one of my favorite Van moments EVER. I may be wrong, but I thought Mo's crush on Fletch started before Holly's return. Something about them working together on a radio show?
  17. No. Although for a time he did think that Eleni was pregnant with his child. (Marina turned out to be Frank's.) And he never has a child on the show.
  18. ah...Burke Moses! He was doing Broadway too, iirc. Or went on to do Broadway.
  19. Even with Ed in her life, Chrissie had an unstable childhood at best. There's the back and forth between Ed/Holly/Roger, Ed's alcoholism, Roger raping Holly, Holly going to jail for shooting him, Rita resented her during her marriage to Ed, etc. then however they explained Ed losing contact with her after Holly moved to Europe. I thought SS excelled at both sides of Blake, the one that wanted to be "normal" (ie, not Roger's daughter) and the ruthless schemer who was gonna get what she felt she was due. I do agree--LK had a more open vulnerability, if coming off slightly more ditzy (as opposed to outright schemer).
  20. ST:TOS Episode 1 The Man Trap He's the first Enterprise crew member killed ever, IIRC. I just adore Henry, and Henry and Vanessa's relationship. Arguably, one of the best father/daughter duos ever. LOL...while Fletcher annoys me to no end from '92 on (he and Vanessa had a brief, BRIEF fling, and he is the most annoying, clingy and sanctimonious lovah ever...) there was a time that he wasn't so bad. I think they often just didn't know what to do with the character (and much like ATWT's Tom Hughes) whenever Jay Hammer got material, he chewed scenery like he was Kim Zimmer.
  21. YEP. As Contessa mentioned, Sonni/Solita from '87 to late '89. I knew once you mentioned TNG there was something I was forgetting.
  22. I don't think there's anyway to truly evaluate Ryder's tenure, it was so brief. I'm not sure anyone left with that overblown cast full of duds could've done much with it. wait---did anyone tell you Michelle Forbes was also on GL?
  23. LOL...you're gonna get sucked down a rabbit hole yet.
  24. I'm blanking on who they even tried her with---Ed Fry and the dude who played Sean Baxter? (I nearly did a spit take when I read that line about how the audience liked Larry--uh, maybe?) I liked MES, but she wasn't what I'd call a chemistry magnet. She had more chem over on GL playing a cop.
  25. I thought I read that the reason that Marland backtracked was due to Rex Smith's likeability, that they listened to the feedback from fans and changed the story. Unfortunately (just as in Suspicion) it ruins careful plotting and cheated the audience. Frankly, Rex Smith would've made a convincing sociopath, simply because his acting was that shallow.
