  1. Tsurenko retired two games in, so the Muguruza/Sharapova quarterfinal is set. Maria has beaten Garbiñe all three times they’ve played, including once at RG, but they haven’t played since 2014, well before her Garbiñe’s big rise.
  2. She just said she loves playing against Maria. “Her game matches so well against mine.” 😂
  3. They are showing it now on TC. She says it is a pectoral muscle issue, and it has impacted her serve. She says she started to feel it during the Goerges match, and she tried different tapings during the doubles match. She says she’s getting an MRI to see if she’ll be ready for Wimbledon. She is disappointed because she’d been playing well.
  4. An announcement is imminent Sharapova is lucky to get that W/O. Let’s go, Muguruza!
  5. Oh dear.
  6. NYC Season 3 is still the Housewives gold standard for me. Granted, I haven’t watched some of the newer franchises (like Potomac or Dallas), but that was nearly a perfect season, including the reunion episodes. Iconic from start to finish.
  7. Just a shame that we have to wait until 2020 for Chatrier to get a roof, but better late than never. I was thinking about how rain would impact the players. The damp, heavy courts could deaden a bit of Nadal’s topspin, but this isn’t his first time at the rodeo.
  8. Literally the rest of the week looks awful weather-wise in Paris (and I mean through the end of the tournament). Tomorrow and Tuesday look particularly bad. I wonder if we’ll see any play before Wednesday.
  9. Lots of people pissed about the Cecchinato win on Twitter (due to the match fixing allegations that have followed him). Goffin looked completely out of sorts. Great draw for Novak, though.
  10. Serena vs Maria. Monday.
  11. Such a waste. I remember that USO match in which he had Fed on the ropes and just didn’t take it seriously enough to go for the win, which he had in hand.
  12. So it wasn’t just Maria playing out of her mind. I saw Kontaveit beat Kvitova in two tiebreaks. Now she’s a dark horse. Monfils had FOUR match points against Goffin just now and just Monfils’d them away.
  13. I heard that the Fognini-Edmund match was bizarre. Lots of momentum shifts and MTOs, but Fognini came out the winner. Was Karolina really that bad against Sharapova? That scoreline 😯 Seems like the Serena/Maria match is looking almost certain (still awaiting the Serena/Goerges match), and many are scared that this will be Maria’s best chance at a victory over Serena, who is struggling with movement, in 14 years. We do know Serena always brings it 500% against Maria, form be damned, but I would hate to see the doper gloating smugly over finally beating Serena in almost 20 tries. Mugu is really rolling this tournament. Giorgi put up a fight, but Sloane came through.
  14. Ain’t it something that of all the “top” ATP players, Kei Nishikori is the only one who had a straightforward victory today? He *stays* playing five setters, even when he doesn’t need to (letting inferior players into matches due to lapses in focus).
  15. Yeah, what I love about NYC now is that even amongst the tension, there’s real authentic levity like Luann’s snark and the ladies drunkenly dry-humping each other. It’s not forced like the raunchy antics over at ATL. I do think Carole is very slyly and methodically undermining Bethenny in a way that no other HW has successfully done. She’s not as obviously thirsty (Jill, Ramona) or just dumb (Kelly).
  16. She gutted through that win. Her footwork was better, and I think she’d probably get past Goerges, but the opponents in her section only get tougher, and someone is sure to capitalize on Serena’s compromised movement better than Ash did. Pliskova will likely defeat Maria, and Karolina has proven pretty strong on clay. And then there’s Muguruza, who seems to be putting together one of her occasional runs. Happy to see Petkovic back gaining some confidence. And look at Stosur flying under the radar a bit.
  17. Serena is really at war with her own body right now. The movement isn’t there yet. The fight and desire are, though.
  18. A couple episodes ago, everyone was coming for Sonja. Now Bethenny is in the firing line.
  19. ^I could have written that myself. TC’s French Open coverage is DREADFUL. Seeing the Americans slaughtered early is doubly pleasurable because TC actually starts broadcasting other more interesting matches. But Isner and Stevie Johnson are still around. And hell no to buying TC Plus.
  20. I’m hearing that The Talk was pre-taped for this week, which is why Sara hasn’t addressed the Roseanne situation on the show.
